Subway Surfers changes its location every month, because of its World Tour. With this, the game takes players through different cities across the globe, changing the game’s models and textures (and even music) to go along with it. There are new challenges, characters, and even new items that are available for a limited time. This allows the player to have a fresh new experience, renewing the game’s feel and look in order to keep the players engaged. (Don’t ask why these young teenagers have enough money to go fly to a different location every month, and why there is an international ring of teenage delinquents all seemingly working together to create graffiti to piss off the exact same security guy).
You can’t change the city, and it is dependent on the month/update, meaning every month there is a brand new location, usually based on a real city. The game often repeats some of these cities, however the items and characters available will usually be different. To keep the game from feeling repetitive, one would assume.
According to Sybo, Subway Surfers’ developers, this is the list of the game’s top 10 cities. Keep in mind that this list goes off the most recently released version of the city as of the time of writing (cities tend to get rereleased in the game, with newer characters and limited edition items).

With the game’s variety of locations and representation of different cultures, it always leaves the player looking forward to the next update, on whether or not their favorite cities will return, or if there will be something new. There are still plenty of cities Subway Surfers has not gone to, and it will be a delight to see even more in the future. (And seriously, how does the guard even afford to keep following these kids everywhere? To space?)
