Are you a fan of Star Wars Battlefront II, but have no idea which Assault class weapons to use? Need more Battle Points? Or do you simply want to get more eliminations? Lucky for you, you've come to the right place. Read on to find a ranking of all Assault weapons and attachment combinations, along with meta recommendations and which ones to avoid.

Weapons, stats, and analyses (ranked worst to best)

5) CR-2 - worst - unlocked after 200 kills with the Assault class

The Force is not strong with this one. Or at least I can’t use it. The range is poor, and the damage is weak. While the rate of fire is good, it takes almost an entire magazine to get an elimination on even a standard trooper. By this time, your opponent will typically have dodged out of the way, and if you keep the trigger held, you will just over-heat the blaster. So forget eliminating a Hero or an Enforcer with it. And the Ion Shot attachment does not deal enough damage to pose a threat to vehicles or Heavy troopers with a shield. Even in close-quarters, where this blaster is better, it is hard to use.

CR-2 5th Best Assault Weapon SWBF2Stats:

  • Cooling Power: 8/10
  • Range: 3/10
  • Rate of fire: 10/10
  • Damage: 3/10

Attachments:

  • Reduced Recoil - unlocked after 25 kills with CR2
  • Ion Shot - unlocked after 75 kills with CR2
  • Night Vision - unlocked after 150 kills with CR2

Recommended builds and use:

  • Reduced Recoil + Night Vision (SMG type build - good in cramped / nighttime scenarios where visibility is low, and you have a better chance of close-quarters combat. Un-equip night vision if not needed. Can be effective in Blast and Strike/Extraction game modes)

4) A280 - unlocked after 50 kills with the Assault class

I have a love / hate relationship with this blaster. The range is great, and the recoil isn’t bad, making it decently accurate. However, the burst firing mode really does it for me. You can only get four, maybe five bursts before needing to cool the blaster down. And it’s semi-automatic, meaning you have to press the trigger after every burst (gross). The good news is, a single, three-shot burst is usually an elimination on standard troops. But since it’s not fully automatic and the cooling power isn’t great, I would not recommend it in close-quarters combat.

A280 4th Best Assault Weapon SWBF2Stats:

  • Cooling Power: 6/10
  • Range: 6/10
  • Rate of fire: 4/10
  • Damage: 5/10

Attachments:

  • Dual Zoom - unlocked after 25 kills with A280
  • Improved Cooling - unlocked after 75 kills with A280
  • Improved Range - unlocked after 150 kills with A280

Recommended builds and use:

  • Improved Cooling + Improved Range (all round build - better if you’re playing fast-paced combat, e.g. Blast, Supremacy and Galactic Assault modes)
  • Dual Zoom + Improved Range (sniper / long-range build - make sure you’re on target and watch out for the recoil)

3) Default Assault blaster

Yes, I know. The default blaster? Top three? Really? While there is a different blaster for each Assault trooper type (Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, etc.) the stats of each are the same. Surprisingly, these stats are the same as the base E-11D, and it is easy to use. Since you cannot equip attachments, I would not recommend using this blaster in long-range scenarios / maps. It was, however, my main blaster of choice when I was completing milestones to unlock the other blasters, even after I unlocked the A280 and CR-2.

DC-15A 3rd Best Assault Weapon SWBF2Stats:

  • Cooling Power: 7/10
  • Range: 5/10
  • Rate of fire: 5/10
  • Damage: 6/10

Blaster for each Assault trooper type:

  • Galactic Republic: DC-15A
  • Separatists: E-5
  • Rebel Alliance: A280C
  • Galactic Empire: E-11
  • Resistance: EL-16
  • First Order: F-11D

2)  EL-16HFE - best long-range blaster - unlocked after 400 kills with the Assault class

I find the slow firing rate of this blaster to be a little annoying. However, this can be mitigated by using it at long range. The high damage and long-range capabilities of this blaster make it effective in maps with wide, open spaces like Geonosis, and, if the Force is with me, I can usually achieve a two-shot kill on standard troops. If you like sitting back from the action a little and picking off opponents from (relatively) afar, this blaster is for you. Beware the recoil and slow rate of fire though!

EL-16HFE 2nd Best Assault Weapon SWBF2Stats:

  • Cooling Power: 8/10
  • Range: 7/10
  • Rate of fire: 3/10
  • Damage: 8/10

Attachments:

  • Reduced Recoil - unlocked after 25 kills with EL-16HFE
  • Improved Range - unlocked after 75 kills with EL-16HFE
  • Dual Zoom - unlocked after 150 kills with EL-16HFE

Recommended builds and use:

  • Improved Range + Dual Zoom (sniper / long-range build - short bursts of fire more accurate than holding trigger down, play like a Specialist class trooper)
  • Reduced Recoil + Improved range (all round build)

1) E-11D - best overall - unlocked after 50 kills with the Assault class in Co-op

The base stats and handling of this blaster are the same as the default Assault blaster - it is useful all around and easy to eliminate with. The cooling power especially is good in fast-paced combat, as you don’t have to reload often. Decent range and firing rate mean you can deal good damage, and you don’t have to get too close while doing so. Add the reduced recoil and improved range attachments and this easily becomes the best Assault blaster. Battle Points and kill streaks on their way!

E-11D Best Assault Weapon SWBF2Stats:

  • Cooling Power: 7/10
  • Range: 5/10
  • Rate of fire: 5/10
  • Damage: 6/10

Attachments:

  • Reduced recoil - unlocked after 25 kills with E-11D
  • Flashlight - unlocked after 75 kills with E-11D
  • Improved Range - unlocked after 150 kills with E-11D

Recommended builds and use:

  • Reduced Recoil + Improved Range (Assault meta all round build, especially effective on maps with medium - long-range combat, e.g. beginning of Star Killer base, and in intense game modes, e.g. Galactic Assault)
  • Improved Range + Flashlight (long-range build - Flashlight reveals enemies while zooming, making locating your target much easier compared with other blasters)

Conclusion

The E-11D is the most effective Assault weapon in Star Wars Battlefront II, and with the added attachments it is certainly the meta weapon for this trooper class. If you’re more of a sniper, or often play with the Specialist class, using the fully automatic EL-16HFE might be a refreshing change of pace. If you’re new to shooting games or still working on unlocking all the blasters, I recommend sticking to the standard blaster until you’ve unlocked the E-11D or EL-16HFE.
