[Top 5] Terraria Best Weapons Against Plantera

I'm going to need more than gardening shears for this!

Plantera is considered to be one of the most difficult bosses in the game. At this point, you've already faced off with the mechanical bosses, but then you're shoved into a plant fight that makes all three of the mechs look like a joke. If you're struggling against this plant-filled tentacle monster, you're in for a treat. Here are our top 5 Terraria best weapons for Plantera!

5. Optic Staff

Summons a set of mini Twins

The Twins fight is considered one of the most difficult mech boss fights in the game. But after beating them, you're rewarded with the ability to craft a staff that summons mini-versions of them. And let us tell you beforehand that they're absolutely strong. Each minion slot will summon 2 minions, making it possible to have 22 total minions with the game's maximum 11 summon slots.

What makes the Optic Staff awesome:

  • The pair of eyes attack at both ranged and melee
  • Since you're getting a 2 for 1, it's easier to have enough summons to take care of all of Plantera's parts

Weapon stats:

  • Damage - 30 (Summon)
  • Knockback - 2 (Very weak)
  • Mana - 10
  • Use time - 36 (Very slow)
  • Velocity - 30

4. Rainbow Rod

Fires magical heat-seeking rainbows

The Rainbow Rod is considered a direct upgrade to the Flamelash and Magic Missile. It launches a rainbow projectile that can be controlled by holding down the attack key, or just sent to its own devices by click-tapping. A good trait of the weapon is that once its projectile pierces twice then explodes shortly after.

What makes Rainbow Rod awesome:

  • The rod provides excellent single damage and crowd control at the same time.
  • The item's accuracy solely depends on the angle you fire it, which in this case would be mostly point-and-click towards the enemy

Weapon Stats:

  • Damage - 50 (Magic)
  • Knockback - 6 (Average)
  • Crit Chance - 4%
  • Mana - 21
  • Use Speed - 25 (Fast)
  • Velocity - 6

3. Dart Pistol

Does not deal bonus damage to Dripplers

The Dart Pistol is one of the most underrated weapons in hardmode, being often ignored since 'evil' weapons are often outclassed at this point of the game. When combined with hardmode darts, the Dart Pistol is an excellent weapon against Plantera. All three hardmode darts have their own shine when it comes to dealing with this vine-ridden beast.

What makes the Dart Pistol awesome:

  • Shooting hardmode darts do different things
  • Crystal Darts bounce, home, and pierce
  • Ichor Darts split into smaller projectiles and reduce defense
  • Cursed Darts do massive area of effect and damage over time

Weapon stats:

  • Damage - 28 (Ranged)
  • Knockback - 3.5 (Weak)
  • Critical chance - 4%
  • Use time - 22 (Fast)
  • Velocity - 13

2. Death Sickle

I just borrowed this from Death. I'll return it, probably

The amount of pseudo-ranged melee weapons in this game is plenty with some of them offering decent overall DPS. The Death Sickle, dropped by Reapers during the Solar Eclipse, is a great weapon when 'weeding' out Plantera. It's pure irony that one of the best weapons to kill a plant is a sickle.

What makes the Death Sickle awesome:

  • Shoots out projectiles that hover in place that can pierce up to 4 times
  • Can have multiple projectiles on-screen at once

Weapon stats:

  • Damage - 57(Melee)
  • Knockback - 7 (Strong)
  • Critical chance - 4%
  • Use time - 25 (Fast)
  • Velocity - 9

1. Megashark

Made with real shark parts, in the game at least

Terraria veterans will vow towards the greatness that is the Megashark. This machine gun is the best fast-firing gun you can get until Golem is defeated. This weapon works exceptionally well against Plantera if used with Chlorophyte and Crystal bullets. Pair this with defense-reducing items such as the Sharktooth Necklace or any ichor-inducing weapons and Plantera will be done in moments.

What makes the Megashark awesome:

  • Has the highest DPS in ranged damage at this point in the game
  • Ammo switching makes this gun very versatile

Weapon stats:

  • Damage - 25 (Ranged)
  • Knockback - 1 (Extremely weak)
  • Critical chance - 4%
  • Use Speed - 7 (Insanely fast)
  • Velocity - 10
  • 50% chance of not consuming ammo
