One of the biggest reasons for Valheim’s unique experience isn’t just limited to the freedom of weapons to use, nor is it the pace in which you control the game, but rather the seed or world you start the game with. No run feels the same as the seed can vary even if you change a letter or number on the world’s seed option at the start of your game menu. For a more visual understanding of how seeds can give you luck or a really bad time, this list is made for those wanting ideas or exact seeds to the best seeds currently.

As with all Valheim lists, this was written at the time of the games’ latest version (Hearth and Home Update, version 0.205.5) with the list only including seeds with YouTube videos, and having links that contain a single seed in the video, meaning compilation videos are excluded. This list isn’t also in any particular order.

Beginner Seeds:

12. HHcLC5acQt (4 Boss Starter Island) (Nizar GG)

Starting the list with, well, a starter map. This central continent is perfect for those wanting to try all of what Valheim has to offer, and with relative safety as well.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• Nearly all the bosses are on the starting island
• A lot of relatively safe biomes like Meadows and Black Forest
• Dangerous areas are on another island relatively near

This is a map designed for those who just started Valheim as the relative safety of the areas could not be overstated. Having this much Meadows and Black Forest gives you room to breathe and not worry about dying, especially when you go beyond mid-game items like Iron.

11. IX7JpLYpLd (All Boss Starter Island) (ConCon)

If you think that the first seed was basic, then this seed should be even more so. With a great world generation at the start, the more you explore it the more you’ll see the convenient nature this world provides.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• All bosses are in one close area
• A cluster of islands also house most of the location stones
• Spawn point doesn’t house dangerous biomes up until you move farther

All 5 bosses near each other? Check. Good space and variation between biomes? Check. Resource-rich map? It depends. This map is definitely one of the best beginner’s maps out there and it doesn’t need a boat for a large majority of it.

Advanced/Hard Seeds:

10. PiyDBQ59uT (Maypole Spawn) (Karac Avalron Gaming)

Now we start going into the more challenging territory, with the only notable change being the presence of a rare thing for this game, the Maypole.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• A nearby Maypole to give 1 energy
• A relatively fine spread of islands
• Some challenging areas are nearby

This is a map designed for those who just started Valheim as the relative safety of the areas could not be overstated. Having this much Meadows and Black Forest gives you room to breathe and not worry about dying, especially when you go beyond mid-game items like Iron.

9. kh643a5C2k (Maypole Spawn 2) (1NESSPLAYS)

Another rare Maypole spawn with this one, but with this seed, the rewards are more hidden (or rather farmed).

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• A somewhat near Maypole to give 1 energy
• A more challenging spread between bosses
• Lots and lots of crypts

If you want a challenging map but have the ‘unfair’ benefits of the Maypole and a ton of crypts for Iron, then look no further than this seed.

8. Cw52vP3ayw (Double Island Resource Seed) (AliFunandJames0)

Another single island seed but this time, it’s a lot more extended and has a bit of both beginner ease of exploration and hard progression of biomes.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• A nice medium between challenging terrain and boss area convenience
• The trader is somewhat close
• Lots of crypts to be looted

From black forest crypts to outright silver clusters underground, this seed is resource-packed and loaded for any crafting ideas you’d take in the long term. Traversing this seed is also a mixed bag as the main island is possible to explore by foot, but also requires a boat to maximize what this seed has to offer.

7. equinox (Mountain Island) (Video Game Databank)

Turning up the difficulty, we have this seed, which thankfully is spellable, ‘equinox’. This seed puts you squarely on disadvantage territory which we’ll get to in a minute.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• Great challenging map as safety isn’t ensured when starting
• Lots of spaced-out islands, making boats necessary
• Very spaced-out boss locations

This map puts you on an island and makes you stay there for a good while as the Black Forest is just within walking distance, making mobs overwhelm you at night a possibility, and that’s without considering the Mountains biome in the middle of it. To make matters worse, you’ll need a boat almost immediately to get out of the island as the spawn is a sizeable length away from a nearby continent, making you drown trying to swim a very real possibility. This is one for those who want to make themselves a rough spot to get out of.

6. 8tEKNJ04AM (Trader Island) (04AM)

A unique seed where the resources are plenty, the trader is alone, and the word generation is fairly far apart.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• The trader is on an island
• Plentiful Swamp crypts
• Meadows between Swamp can make for an interesting base perimeter

There are still plenty of places left unexplored from the video which will be for you to enjoy and check (or find using a seed generator online). This is more for those wanting to get more enjoyable views with uncommon biome generations and or just wanting to see our friendly shopkeeper on his lonesome.

Speedrun Seeds

5. E7c9Vdpqmd (Eikthyr Speedrun Seed) (Onion Knight)

Now we get to the unique seeds people use to achieve a certain goal. Welcome to the first of many speedrun seeds.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• Eikthyr Spawn is a few steps away
• Wide Meadows to hunt the prerequisites on
• A fine seed for normal gameplay

Not much to say as the video doesn’t elaborate further into the world, but given how conveniently placed the deers are at spawn, it also shows why this seed is good for some simple big deer hunting.

4. xbZHXSe86c (Elder Speedrun Seed) (Onion Knight)

Looking at another beginner boss to go for, Elder is now possible to speedrun thanks to this seed

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• Somewhat short proximity to the Black Forest
• Nearby spawners allow for the faster gathering of Ancient Seed
• Walkable distance from spawn to the summoning point

It’s tough to find a Black Forest that has worthwhile additions early on, but having the option to get Ancient Seed and the platform to summon Elder is one relatively straight sweep makes this a good speedrun seed for killing the thing that can spawn poisonous ones that can end you. Added bonus also is the presence of crypts and abundant Pine Trees to gather Core Wood with this early on.

3. ypjjpRXXFM (Bonemass Speedrun Seed) (Nilsibus)

This speedrun seed not only includes the first two bosses but also happens to show how to kill them and the 3rd boss, Bonemass.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• A relatively straightforward path for all 3 bosses
• A decent number of crypts for a Swamp
• Can work well as an advanced difficulty seed

While the video is long, it shows how speedrunning Valheim is a combination of good seed, some crafty techniques (aka no skill drain from dying a lot), and lots of maneuvering. This seed will take you a long time in normal playthrough hours, but for the essence of going to the mid-game as fast as possible, you couldn’t go any better than this, for now.

2. xtqGXsdJ5J (All Boss Speedrun) (NickRawcliffe)

While the last entry is admittedly pretty long, this one truly shows what a perfect speedrunning seed can look like.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• Incredibly close boss spawn proximity to one another
• A generous mix of biome sizes for explorations
• Can work well as a hard, difficult seed

With how Valheim’s seed generation is randomized, seeing a seed where you can finish all the bosses within someone’s lunch break time is possible is insane. Not only that but being able to see all the main biomes in one go is also a great way to see (and maybe die from) the different dangers each part of the world has to offer. Truly, this is a seed for those who know what they are doing.

1. LKTjZ4NyLA (Hearth and Home Speedrun) (NickRawcliffe)

Last for this list is a new generation seed that Hearth and Home introduce.

What’s Great About This Seed:

The great standouts for this seed are the following:

• Boss spawns are still somewhat close to one another
• Biomes are spaced by water, making traveling to each other enjoyable by boat.
• Can work well as a hard, difficult seed

This one is pretty much a random seed wherein the bosses are much closer to each other. The main difference being is that the changes are more or less guaranteed, but again, with every update, chances are any seed will be able to apply the new mobs and challenges this world brings. Though, it’s nice to know that every area is just a nice boat ride away from one another, unless, the Serpent changes any of that plan for you.

Conclusion:

With countless combinations available to make yourself, Valheim’s gameplay will always be unique from one person to another, assuming you don’t use the same seed code. What is shown here is barely anything compared to seeds that aren’t shown on video such as a seed named ‘FLOrida’, which gives you a hard time in the beginning. As a personal suggestion, I’d take your best Viking mates and let them choose a letter or number to make your unique seed, that way you and your friends can choose your heaven or hell seed together. The seeds are planted, now make your gameplay grow from it.
