The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom reinvented the metaphorical Zonai Wheel when they added a crafting system to their open world. The Zoanite powered mechanic gives players the ability to fuse objects together and then power these objects with the battery cells collected by exploring the depths.
Thanks to the social buzz that is constantly hovering around any title that carries the Zelda name, players have been overwhelmed with images of mecha constructs, videos of stealth bombers, and the occasional clip of a new vehicle that defies the laws of physics and speeds through the fields of Hyrule faster than you can say Epona.
5. The Breezer Cart
Follow the Breezer Cart and Upgrade your gear!
The freedom created by TOTK’s new crafting system cannot be overstated, but it hasn’t completely erased the traditional forms of transportation that have been a part of the Zelda franchise since before the days of Fuse Hand. One of the traditional vehicles that fans will learn to love is the Breezer Cart.
The famous horse-drawn carriage of the Musical Troupe goes through more than one make-over in TOTK and makes its claim to fame by leading players on a quest to open the fairy fountains. Every mile traversed by the Breezer Cart is a mile closer to maximizing a player's armor inventory. This alone makes the vehicle something to remember, but a wise gamer will find a way to bring the Breezer Cart with them for future adventures.
- Artfully designed to ferry the Musical Troupe through the fields of Hyrule
- Surprisingly versatile
- Leads players through a Quest to unlock the fairy fountains and upgrade their gear.
- Save it as an auto build to gain instant access to the Breezer Cart
Breezer Cart Parts:
- Breezer Cart
- Wood Wheel X4
4. Hot Air Balloon
Elevate your TOTK experience with a Hot Air Balloon
The Hot Air Balloon is one the most reliable early game vehicles in TOTK and quickly becomes the most accessible after players rekindle their relationship with Mr. Hudson in Tarrey Town. When players first enter the world of Hyrule created for TOTK, they will be shocked by the scale of the new map. While the fields of Hyrule might not stretch any further than they did in BOTW, the new map reaches up into the sky, making air traversal one of the most important early game puzzles to work through.
Before mastering the hover bike or building a small bomber plane, players should familiarize themselves with a vehicle build that will increase their altitude without testing their knowledge of aerodynamics. Insert a balloon, flame emitter, cart, and portable bundle of wood and you have a vehicle that can traverse the skies even when your battery cells are depleted.
- Gain altitude with only 3 Zonai Devices
- Hot Air Balloons can be fuelled by fire or battery cell
- Can be found near settlements after completing the Mattison’s Independence Quest.
Hot Air Balloon Parts
- Balloon
- Flame Emitter
- Cart
3. Speeder Bike
Speed through Hyrule on a homemade Speeder Bike!
Regardless of the new crafting systems intentions or depth, fans of The Legend of Zelda franchise are not quick to let go of their attachment to Link’s history as a mounted Knight. Epona and the other legendary horses roaming the fields of Hyrule can’t be easily replaced, but there is something truly valuable about the way players speed cut through Hyrule’s open fields with the new Speeder Bike build.
By combining a stabilizer, small wheel, and steering stick, players will find themselves with a reliable vehicle that can quickly carry them to their destination. The controls can be a bit touchy and climbing on top of it is frustratingly difficult without Recall, but once it is moving the Speeder Bike proves to be one of the most versatile and simple builds in TOTK.
- Quick Ground Transportation for only 3 Zonai Devices
- No need to stop by the stable in the middle of a quest.
- Efficient use of Battery Cells
Speeder Bike Parts
- Small Wheel
- Stabilizer
- Steering Stick
2. Stealth Bomber
Link prepares to stock up on Zonai Devices
Since the earliest days of Tears of the Kingdom, players have been pushing the game’s new crafting mechanic to its limit. We’ve seen player controlled mecha builds, flaming crucifixes, and even a handful of stealth bombers. The last of these three builds is one that players should take a moment to familiarize themselves with if they ever hope to maximize their combat potential in TOTK.
When players consider the power of the bullet time mechanic, it becomes increasingly obvious that the best way to begin a battle is from above. With this in mind, a flying bomber that can swoop in from above and deal damage to enemies below is incredibly useful. Not only will the Stealth Bomber help you gain the high ground, it will do a decent amount of damage in the process.
- Limited aerial mobility paired with AoE damage
- Enter combat from the stealth bomber to destroy enemies from above
- Use a Large Zonai Charge to end the fight from the sky
Stealth Bomber parts
- Wing X3
- Fan X3
- Cannon X3
- Steering Stick

Link soars above the clouds on a hoverbike
Few who have dedicated their time to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have missed out on the Hover Bike hype. Two Fans and a Steering Stick will give players instant control over the skies for as long as their battery cells hold out.
There is a good reason that this homebrew Zonai build has pulled the attention of the masses. It’s efficient use of battery cells, speed, and maneuverability make it invaluable in the extensive world of Hyrule. Just make sure to line up the wheels right or the vehicle's maneuverability will suffer for it.
