[Top 10] AC Odyssey Best Lieutenants In The Game (Ranked)

The Sea Battle in Odyssey

Are you finding it hard to win the battles during the ship warfare in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? I got you covered. With this ranking you will see some of the best lieutenants you can get in the game, some of them, you will be able to get right off the start of the game.

Lieutenants are the special members of your ship, Adrestia. They vary from common, rare epic to legendary and differ in the number of skills they have. The common and rare lieutenants have the least skills, only one, while obviously, the legendary lieutenants have the most, three in total.

You can recruit them in different ways. Some of them are available very easily, some through some quests, and others you will have to battle to later ask them to join Adrestia. You can recruit a lot of enemies in the game as well and you can use Ikaros to see their rank first. If you decide you want to recruit them, fight them, knock them out, when their health is low use Sparta Kick and you might be able then to enlist them.

The most important reason to recruit powerful lieutenants is that it makes sea battles much easier. They will boost your ship’s power with their unique skill and when you board the enemy’s ship, the fight will be much easier. There is a huge difference, believe me, between boarding the enemy ship with and without great lieutenants.

For instance, when you want to target any member of the Gods of the Aegean Sea, you will have to battle them on the sea. Having a great lieutenant is a must-have in such a situation. So, let’s see some of the best lieutenants in the game, shall we?

1. Dido (Good)

Lieutenant Dido on board of Adrestia

Dido is a good example of a strong lieutenant that you can get fairly quickly in the game. He has some great skills that will benefit your ship and your sea combat. Moreover, you can already recruit him around the 10th level.

In my opinion, Dido is a great lieutenant to recruit at the beginning of the game. Getting him onboard is easy and his skillset is decent. His boosts add to the ship’s offensive power significantly.

Dido’s Strengths:

  • boosts Ramming Damage
  • increases Fire Power when Ramming
  • can be recruited at the early stage of the game

How to get Dido:

Dido’s will be found in the Snake Temple which you visit during a quest called “Snake in the Grass.” Fight him and while his HP is really low, try using Sparta Kick Ability to knock him down. Afterward, come up to him and you will be able to recruit him.

Dido’s details:

  • Epic Lieutenant
  • +18% Ramming Damage
  • +23% Fire Power when Ramming

2. Odessa (Good)

Lieutenant Odessa on board of Adrestia

Odessa is probably the first epic lieutenant you will encounter and be able to recruit. You will first meet her when Elpenor asks you to go to Ithaka at the beginning of the game. Then, you will encounter her again in Megaris.

Odessa is certainly a strong lieutenant that can benefit you in sea combat. Her boosts are great and it is very easy to recruit her. Overall, a great choice at the beginning of the game is to get her on board.

Odessa’s Strengths:

  • boosts Fire Buildup with Arrows
  • boosts Fire Power per Javelin Hits
  • easy to recruit
  • you can get her on board very early in the game

How to get Odessa:

To recruit Odessa you will have to finish her short questline in Megaris. When there, you can find Odessa in the Valley of King Lelex. She will be in a house between the city and Port Nisaia. After finishing the last quest “The True Story” you will be able to recruit her.

As you can see, the son has surpassed the father. I believe that Stentor is a better pick for a lieutenant than Nikolaos, even though both are great. Stentor is another great addition to the power of your ship. Fierce and brave, he will aid you a lot during your sea conquests.

The skills that Stentor possesses are just great. They are very offensive, they increase your power significantly and they really improve your combat strength. Altogether, Stentor is a must-have member of your crew.

Lieutenant Kantor on board of Adrestia

At the end of the ranking, we have Kantor, the Spartan. He is certainly a force to be reckoned with and a feared opponent to anyone battling Adrestia. By far this Spartan is one of the best lieutenants in the game.

Kantor’s abilities increase your offense a lot. His skills influence the Weak Point Creation, which allows you to create it more often and hence destroy ships more easily. What’s more, he boosts the Arrow Damage, the most used attack in sea combat, which is a great feat.
