If you try to run into battle with a spud gun, you have no chance. In this article I will be showing you the most powerful assault rifles in Battlefield 2042, guaranteed to make you a force to be reckoned with.

1. AM40

AM40 Breakdown - Battlefield 2042

Starting off this list will be the AM40. Intended for mainly close-quarter combat, I call this weapon the “room sweeper.” Although it does lack firepower, the fast rate of fire and excellent handling make up for it. After getting 360 kills with the AM40, you can attach a standard issue drum magazine to it. Having so many bullets in such an easy to control weapon is deadly. The Am40 is absolutely perfect for rushing an objective.

2. AK-24

AK-24 Breakdown - Battlefield 2042

The AK-24 is one of the hardest-hitting and most versatile guns on this list. Some people don’t like the recoil, but with a little practice, the AK-24 is easily one of the best weapons in the game. After you achieve 360 kills with it, you unlock the drum magazine, which holds a hefty 51 bullets. So go pick up the AK, hold down the trigger finger, and enjoy.

3. AC-42

The AC-42 may technically be the least versatile weapon on this list, but don’t let that fool you. This gun has the potential to be the most lethal assault rifle in the game Primarily used for medium-distance engagements, the AC-42 is the most accurate assault rifle. I recommend sitting back from the objective a little bit and focusing on picking off the enemy. A couple of good bursts from a distance and your enemy will never even reach the objective.

The AC-42 is the last assault rifle that is unlocked, you must reach level 40 to use this beast.

4. SFAR-M GL

SFAR-M GL Breakdown - Battlefield 2042

The SFAR-M GL is the only assault rifle with a built-in grenade launcher and absolutely should not be overlooked. With many people weary of the gun's base magazine that only holds 20 bullets, I promise just stick with it and you will be throwing lead all over the battlefield. After getting 330 kills with this weapon, you unlock the high-power drum magazine! That's right, high-power drum magazine. With 40 bullets and an insane amount of fire power, once you tame the recoil, it's a wrap.

The SFAR-M GL is unlocked upon reaching level 27.

5. M5A3

M5A3 Breakdown - Battlefield 2042

My personal favorite assault rifle in Battlefield 2042 is the M5A3. Being one of the most balanced weapons in the entire game, firing the M5A3 feels so smooth that you should never have problems with accuracy. Once you unlock all the attachments for this weapon, the versatility is unbelievable. Being able to act as an SMG in close combat situations and switch over to a high-powered assault rifle at medium range is something only the M5A3 can do with such grace.
