The Devil has to be the most menacing big bad in all of pop culture and what’s a better way to celebrate this alluring yet mysterious beast than to watch these Top 15 Best Horror Movies About the Devil. From horror comedies to outright disturbing-fest, these fifteen films won't let you down if you’re looking for a great time.

15. Shake Rattle & Roll XI: Diablo (2009)

Shake Rattle & Roll XI tells three unique tales; a doctor possessed by the devil, a woman haunted by a murderous wedding dress and a group of friends stalked in the middle of the woods by an unknown creature.

Filipino horror movies have always had a knack for supernatural films, however, this segment of the long-running franchise is a unique and visually stunning take on the familiar Devil possession concept. It takes the familiar trope of the sub-genre and gave them tweaks to make them truly their own.

If you don’t mind watching your films with subtitles then definitely give this film a try.

14. We Summon the Darkness (2020)

In 1988, three best friends who had gone to a secluded country home for a party following a heavy metal performance come face to face with sadistic killers.

We Summon the Darkness might be exactly what you're looking for if you want some cruel nostalgic fun. It's a great movie that celebrates metal rock while infusing it with a touch of satanic dread to create an intense movie with incredible gore.

The film is particularly compelling to watch as it also includes the gorgeous Alexandria Daddario as the seductive Alexis. You shouldn't pass up watching this movie.

13. Devil (2010)

The Devil is eerily present among a group of people who are confined in an elevator.

M. Night Shyamalan’s films are often hit or miss, though this hugely underappreciated film from back in 2010 is worth every second of your time. It’s got one claustrophobic setting to keep you on the edge of your seat as tension and mysteries build up. On top of that, it also got Shyamalan's signature plot twist that will take you by surprise.

12. Little Evil (2017)

In this hilarious horror-comedy, newlywed Gary (Adam Scott) starts to think that his 5-year-old stepson is the spawn of the satan.

It’s not often that we get a comedy horror film about the devil himself, but Netflix's Little Devil succeeds in doing so flawlessly, making it one of the funniest horror movies you'll ever see. It's got tons of references to classic horror films like the movie Omen, making it such an entertaining watch for horror fans.

11. The Sect (1991)

The only Italian horror film on the list focuses on a kindergarten teacher (Kelly Curtis) who discovers a hidden well in her basement and soon finds herself being followed by a murderous Satanic cult.

Italian horror never fails to deliver such visually stunning films packed with unique and bizarre moments, as well as some incredible gore effects. Dario Argento's unique take on the sub-genre is filled with hypnotic scenes that will make you fall in love with it. Its satanic cult is also among the strangest and most unique I've ever seen yet.

10. Starry Eyes (2014)

A hopeful young actress strikes a terrible deal in exchange for fame and money after uncovering the sinister history of Hollywood's elite.

Starry Eyes does a great job of forcing its viewers to partake in an uncomfortable situation, which makes viewing the film such a powerful yet horrifying experience. It's also a film that's not for the squeamish as it's gone an amazing body horror that will leave an impact on you.

9. Don’t Deliver Us From Evil (1971)

Two bored Catholic schoolgirls named Anne and Lore decide to become Satanists and participate in a series of gruesome games throughout the summer.

If you think you’ve seen "bizarre" then you definitely haven’t seen this 1971 film. It’s a depraved and mean-spirited film that almost feels like a dream at times due to its ludicrousness. It has a rather grim depiction of worshiping Satan itself, and in some ways, it's even superior to Rosemary's Baby in some regards.

It’s a French film so you will have to watch it with subtitles to understand its story, but I guarantee you that by the end you still wouldn't understand a thing.

8. Ready or Not (2019)

Let’s take a break from utterly depressing and terrifying films and take a look at this highly entertaining film starring Samara Weaving as Grace whose wedding night takes a sinister turn when her eccentric new in-laws make her participate in a terrifying game.

Ready or Not takes many of the genre's familiar tropes and combines them all to create a fun film that will make you both chuckle and tense from fear. It doesn’t try to be an overly serious film with a deep story, instead, it just wants to provide you with a good time, which it accomplishes admirably.

7. Prince of Darkness (1987)

The movie centers on a group of quantum physics students in Los Angeles who are asked to help a priest look into an old cylinder of liquid found in a monastery and discover that it is a sentient, liquid embodiment of Satan.

This underappreciated masterpiece from 1987 is only one of many outstanding and fantastic horror movies directed by John Carpenter. It has a lot of frightening elements that make it such an enjoyable movie to watch for hardcore horror fans. It even goes as far as to present itself as a bizarre dream due to the many well-put imageries that the film offers.

If you enjoy John Carpenter’s films then you will definitely love this film.

6. The Conjuring (2013)

Ed and Lorraine Warren, who specializes in investigating paranormal activity, assist a family who lives in a farmhouse that is being frightened by a mysterious presence.

James Wan’s supernatural film is one that you should watch if you enjoy your film that’s full of thrills and chills. Its many scares are well-executed thanks largely to the slow tension that the film builds up, making each of them genuinely unexpected.

Although the film may not be as genre-defining as any of the classic horror films, it's one that you will never forget any time soon.

5. The House of the Devil (2009)

In 1983, financially struggling college student Samantha Hughes accepts a strange babysitting job that coincides with a full lunar eclipse. She gradually learns that her clients may be hiding a secret behind their walls.

What makes this film such an enjoyable watch despite it being one of the most haunting films on the list is its gorgeous presentation that perfectly recreates an 80s era, making you completely immersive throughout the whole duration. And although the movie may take a while to build up suspense and tension, you'll be absolutely terrified when it finally unveils its terror.

The House of the Devil is a slow-burning film that is well worth your time.

4. The Blackcoat’s Daughter (2016)

In the midst of winter, a troubled girl played by Emma Roberts sets out on a mysterious journey to a remote prep school where two stranded classmates (Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Boynton) encounter a frightening threat

There is no other movie like The Blackcoat's Daughter. Its bleak, somber, and frequently strange atmosphere makes it one of the most heartbreaking horror movies I've ever seen. It also has a ton of shocking moments that surprised me, and its conclusion is possibly the most depressing I've ever seen.

This slow yet disturbing movie is very interesting to watch because of the outstanding acting work by Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Boynton, and others.

3. The Omen (1973)

In one of the classic movies on the list, Gregory Peck investigates strange killings that might or might not have something to do with his son Damien.

Due to its eerie and occasionally disturbing atmosphere, which takes its time to build mystery and tension, The Omen will leave you feeling uneasy. Given its age, the movie is very impressive. Many remarkable situations were produced by it, such as the scene with the nanny, which is still startling to this day.

Also, it has a great cast, including Harvey Spencer Stephens as Damien, who really makes the film such an eerie watch. The Omen is an all-time classic that cannot be missed.

2. Rosemary’s Baby (1968)

A young couple trying for a baby moves into an aging, ornate apartment building where they find themselves surrounded by peculiar neighbors.

Rosemary's Baby is still regarded as a masterpiece because of its compelling two-and-a-half-hour story. Watching Rosemary as she is overwhelmed by the cult is both captivating and unsettling, and this is made even more so by Mia Farrow's outstanding performance as the sympathetic Rosemary.

This movie makes you use your imagination while it portrays its horrors subtly, in contrast to other movies on the list. If you haven’t seen this amazing film yet then what are you waiting for? Go watch this film now.

1. The Exorcist (1973)

In this all-time horror classic, two priests are called in by the mother of a 12-year-old girl who is being held captive by an enigmatic force.

The Exorcist is a classic film that every horror fan should have watched by now. It’s got so many shocking moments that are rather shocking to see today considering the time of its release. Its third act is also a memorable sight that has defined the horror genre.

The Exorcist is a genre-defining film which is why it’s easy to say that it's the best devil movie you'll ever see.
