[Top 10] Bloodborne Best DLC Weapons And How To Get Them
Updated:

The Old Hunters DLC is probably one of the best expansions and best overall gaming experiences in recent history. It adds rich lore, interesting characters, a myriad of enemies, and a wide selection of weapons to choose from. The new weapons are going to be the focal point of this list. They encompass all that it meant to be an original hunter, finding ways to battle the beastly scourge, and ultimately see the light of day.

10. Beast Cutter

The Beast Cutter is the strength equivalent of the Threaded Cane. It is definitely less elegant than the cane, seeing as the untricked form is a rigid club, and the tricked form is a whip with jagged blades. Both forms of the weapon offer very good crowd control attacks, utilizing wide sweeping slashes and slams, boosted by good stagger potential.

What makes the Beast Cutter great:

  • High stagger potential
  • Solid Strength scaling
  • Good crowd control moveset
  • Serrated damage, good against beasts

Beast Cutter stats:

  • Base: 92 physical damage | Strength scaling: C
  • Beast Cutter +3: 119 physical damage | Strength scaling: C
  • Beast Cutter+6: 146 physical damage | Strength scaling: C
  • Beast Cutter +10: 184 physical damage | Strength scaling: B

9. Beasthunter Saif

The Beasthunter Saif is very similar to the Saw Spear and Saw Cleaver since it is basically the “prototype” of the more efficient Serrated weapons. Unlike the other two, the Beasthunter Saif offers combat similar to a dance, with wide, sweeping slashes and an extremely high potential for mobility. The tricked R1 combo is one of the fastest in the game, and it has surprisingly decent Arcane scaling.

What makes the Beasthunter Saif great:

  • Very quick attacks
  • Tricked form offers slower, but wider attacks, good for crowd control
  • Decent Arcane scaling
  • High mobility moveset

Beasthunter Saif stats:

  • Base: 90 physical damage | Skill scaling: D
  • Beasthunter Saif +3: 117 physical damage | Skill scaling: D
  • Beasthunter Saif +6: 153 physical damage | Skill scaling: C
  • Beasthunter Saif +10: 180 physical damage | Skill scaling: B

8. Bloodletter

The Bloodletter is the most metal weapon in Bloodborne. Plain and simple. The wielder used their own life essence to transform this thing from a one-handed mace to a gigantic Morningstar. I don’t think I have to justify it anymore. Aside from that, it is a very effective weapon, capable of both physical and Blood damage in a neat little package. The moveset is dynamic and aggressive, allowing you to mash enemies into pulp effortlessly.

What makes the Bloodletter great:

  • Very high strength scaling
  • Extremely high Bloodtinge scaling
  • AOE L2 attacks
  • Charged R2 adds a Blood explosion

Bloodletter stats:

  • Base: 90 physical damage | Strength scaling: C
  • Bloodletter +3: 117 physical damage | Strength scaling: B
  • Bloodletter +6: 144 physical damage | Strength scaling: B
  • Bloodletter +10: 180 physical damage | Strength Scaling: A

7. Simon’s Bowblade

Simon’s Bowblade is one of those weapons that completely transform the way you approach the game. In the untricked form, it is a scimitar-like weapon capable of swift slashes and thrusts. Tricked, however, it turns into a bow that consumes QS bullets with every use. The untricked form deals physical damage, but the bow form is pure Blood damage. It is especially useful against large bosses with specific weak points, such as Ebrietas or Amygdala.

What makes Simon’s Bowblade great:

  • Dynamic gameplay
  • Ranged combat
  • High Skill and Bloodtinge scaling
  • Untricked form is quite fast

Simon’s Bowblade stats:

  • Base: 80 physical damage | Skill/Bloodtinge scaling: C/C
  • Simon’s Bowblade +3: 104 physical damage | Skill/Bloodtinge scaling: B/B
  • Simon’s Bowblade +6: 128 physical damage | Skill/Bloodtinge scaling: A/A
  • Simon’s Bowblade +10: 160 physical damage | Skill/Bloodtinge scaling: S/S

6. Kos Parasite

Upon defeating the Great One manchild, the Orphan of Kos, you will be gifted one of the parasites that reside in his mother. Disgusting, but cool. This weapon should be used in tandem with the Milkweed Rune, which will add a new layer of gameplay not available in the base game. With the Parasite and rune equipped, you can become a Lumenwood and wreak havoc with Arcane-based explosions and slimy tentacle attacks.

What makes the Kos Parasite great:

  • Very fun moveset
  • Higher mobility
  • Good synergy with Arcane
  • Charged L2 is an explosion
  • Wide tentacle attacks are good crowd control

Kos Parasite stats:

  • Base: 30 Arcane damage | Arcane scaling: A
  • Kos Parasite +3: 39 Arcane damage | Arcane scaling: S
  • Kos Parasite +6: 48 Arcane damage | Arcane scaling: S
  • Kos Parasite +10: 60 Arcane damage | Arcane scaling: S

5. Boom Hammer

A slow, but effective weapon. The Boom Hammer excels at crushing foes and setting them alight. A great way of dealing with beasts, at least in the eyes of the Old Hunters. The knee cap crusher is a staggering machine with a mixture of physical and Arcane damage, as well as Blunt damage, ideal for charged attacks. The moveset is not like other weapons. Tricking the weapon makes the next attack deal additional fire damage, some even explode.

What makes the Boom Hammer great:

  • Very strong charged attacks
  • Added Fire damage
  • Mixed types of damage
  • Solid Strength scaling

Boom Hammer stats:

  • Base: 90 physical damage | Strength scaling: C
  • Boom Hammer +3: 117 physical damage | Strength scaling: B
  • Boom Hamer +6: 144 physical damage | Strength scaling: B
  • Boom Hammer +10: 180 physical damage | Strength scaling: A

4. Church Pick

Here we come to the favorite of many PvP players. The untricked version is a crude sword but tricked it transforms into a large war pick with a more defined moveset. Aside from the Righteous bonus, it also has the Serrated modifier in the tricked form, making it more useful against enemies who are weak to Serrated damage. The moveset is quite easy to grasp and satisfying to execute.

What makes the Church Pick great:

  • Vertical reach in the tricked form
  • Good moveset
  • Both Righteous and Serrated damage bonuses
  • Good stagger potential

Church Pick stats:

  • Base: 88 physical damage | Skill scaling: D
  • Church Pick +3: 112 physical damage | Skill scaling: C
  • Church Pick +6: 136 physical damage | Skill scaling: C
  • Church Pick +10: 176 physical damage | Skill scaling: B

3. Holy Moonlight Sword

The elusive moonlight is a weapon that is found in many FromSoftware games, and for good reason. In each iteration, the sword is exceptionally strong, and Bloodborne is no different. A standard longsword in the untricked form but tricked, it becomes a Moonlight Greatsword. This blade features mixed damage (physical and Arcane), a straightforward moveset, and the ability to shoot projectiles of concentrated moonlight. Nourishing blood gems are a great option for this weapon.

What makes the Holy Moonlight Sword great:

  • Good Arcane and Strength scaling
  • Moonlight projectiles
  • Solid moveset
  • Fun to use

Holy Moonlight Sword stats:

  • Base: 90 physical damage | 50 Arcane damage | Arcane scaling: C
  • Holy Moonlight Sword +3: 117 physical damage | 60 Arcane damage | Arcane scaling: B
  • Holy Moonlight Sword +6: 144 physical damage | 80 Arcane damage | Arcane scaling: A
  • Holy Moonlight Sword +10: 180 physical damage | 100 Arcane damage | Arcane scaling: A

2. Rakuyo

Inside the well, in the middle of the Fishing Hamlet, you will find two sharks guarding a nigh-legendary blade – the Rakuyo. Lady Maria used this weapon with deadly efficiency, but troubled by the actions of the Healing Church, she threw it into a well. The moveset it has is a mix of elegance and aggression, making sure that your enemies will never have a second to retaliate. It is one of the best general weapons in the game, due to the Skill scaling and overall efficiency.

What makes the Rakuyo great:

  • Very good, dynamic moveset
  • Fast attack speed
  • Very good Skill scaling
  • Smooth transformation attacks

Rakuyo stats:

  • Base: 82 physical damage | Skill scaling: C
  • Rakuyo +3: 106 physical damage | Skill scaling: B
  • Rakuyo +6: 130 physical damage | Skill scaling: B
  • Rakuyo +10: 164 physical damage | Skill scaling: A

1. Whirligig Saw

An absolutely brutal weapon, the Whirligig Saw is a powerhouse made for rending beasts to shreds. It is one of the two weapons in the game capable of reaching an S rating in Strength, so the damage output it has is quite high. Aside from this, it is best suited for Strength builds focusing on raw damage, staggering, and breaking limbs. It is found in the area under the Nightmare Church in the Hunter’s Nightmare.

What makes the Whirligig Saw great:

  • Extremely high damage output
  • High stagger potential
  • Serrated damage
  • Very high Strength scaling
  • Tricked L2 is a constant buzzsaw

Whirligig Saw stats:

  •  Base: 95 physical damage | Strength scaling: B
  • Whirligig Saw +3: 122 physical damage | Strength scaling: A
  • Whirligig Saw +6: 149 physical damage | Strength scaling: A
  • Whirligig Saw +10: 190 physical damage | Strength scaling: S

There we have it, 10 of the best weapons from the Old Hunters DLC. Each of them is a monster capable of carrying you through multiple playthroughs effortlessly. Your job is to figure out which one you like the most and give it a whirl (heh). Just go out there and kill a few beasts, it’s for your own good.
