[Top 5] Final Fantasy 7 Remake Best Summons

[Top 5] Final Fantasy 7 Remake Best Summons
They're like Pokemon but much deadlier!

Are you having a hard time with a boss or a group of enemies? Well, if you are, then use your summon materia to spawn monsters that aid you in battle. There are a total of 9 summon monsters. These summons can cast spells, and you should cast them as much as you can before your summon disappears. As each summon has a spawn timer.

The most powerful summons are those who deal non-elemental damage, of which there aren’t a lot. Moreover, these summons can’t be controlled directly; all you can control are their spells. These summons are important as they will make a fight easier for you. In today's article, I'll be ranking the best 5 summons by their strengths and usefulness. So with that, let's get into the article.

5. Carbuncle

Look how cute this lil fella is!

Carbuncle focuses more on supporting your whole party as every single one of his abilities is for supporting purposes. Best part is that you don’t you don't need any MP to cast these spells, only ATB, so use them as much as you can before his timer runs out.

Additionally, once his spawn timer runs out, he doesn't deal any damage to enemies but instead heals your whole party for 9999 HP, which turns a losing battle into a winning one. He is amazing if you don’t have anyone in your party that specializes in healing spells or a general support member.

Carbuncle Is Great For:

  • For your supporting whole party with his abilities.
  • Healing your party for 9999 health once his spawn timer runs out.
  • Acting as a support party member who doesn’t use MP.

Carbuncle Stats:

  • Max HP: +2%
  • Max MP: +2%

4. Ifrit

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

The first summon materia that you obtain is Ifrit. You get him fairly early in the game from Jessie. Additionally, you can use this summon for the entirety of the game as a lot of enemies are weak to fire. He has two spells that cost one and two ATB.

His damage output is decent and can consistently damage enemies. Alongside that a few early game bosses such as Abzu and the whole sewer section enemies have a weakness to fire so Ifrit will come in handy. Also, once his spawn timer runs out Ifrit will leave multiple fiery tornados that damage enemies.

Ifrit Is Great For:

  • Dealing a huge chunk of damage to a lot of enemies who have a weakness to fire.
  • Killing bosses quickly who have a weakness to fire such as Abzu.
  • Dealing AoE damage as when his spawn timer runs out he spawns fiery tornados that damage enemies.
  • Great for the sewer section portion of the game as enemies most of the enemies have a weakness to fire.

Ifrit Stats:

  • Max MP: +2
  • ATK: +4
  • DEF: +2
  • STR: +2
  • VIT: +2

3. Shiva

I am the queen of ice!

Shiva is the complete opposite of Ifrit. She is the Ice Queen and as you might guess she deals AoE blizzard damage. Such as the “Icicle Impact” that shoots an icicle that deals blizzard damage to a target and damages everyone around. While “Heavenly Strike” drops a block of ice on a target and deals damage to anyone in the area.

When her spawn timer runs out she groups enemies and turns them into an ice cocoon which then shatters, damaging everyone. The way to acquire Shiva is to defeat her in a battle simulation that Chadley offers in Chapter 8. She has a weakness to fire so make sure to equip fire spells and bring Ifrit along with you.

Shiva Is Great For:

  • Great for dealing AoE damage with all three of her abilities.
  • Dealing a high amount of damage in a short time.
  • Dispatching a group of enemies quickly.

Shiva Stats:

  • Max MP: +3%
  • MATK: +4
  • MAG: +2

2. Leviathan

It’s a water dragon.

Here's a summon that you also obtain through a combat simulation although this one is much stronger than Shiva so beware. The Leviathan deals non-elemental damage so it's able to pass any elemental resistances that enemies might have. Although that also means it can’t directly attack their weaknesses.

His abilities are powerful but cost 2 ATBs to cast. The “Gyro Spume '' deals damage in an area and the “Briny Bellow '' deals immense damage and increases stagger. When the spawn timer runs out the Leviathan summons a massive wave that damages your enemies.

Leviathan Is Great For:

  • Dealing an insane amount of damage in a short time.
  • Dealing non elemental damage.
  • Bypassing elemental resistances.
  • Has the highest damage dealing ability once the spawn timer runs out.

Leviathan Stats:

  • Magic Attack: +4
  • Magic Defense: +2
  • Spirit: +2
  • Magic: +2
  • Max HP: +2

1. Bahamut

Time to perish!

For the best summon in the whole game, we have a badass dragon. But obtaining such a beast will be a chore and a half, as you have to complete all of the battle reports for Chadley. Once you complete that, you will unlock the VR battle to obtain Bahamut. Once you do defeat Bahamut and obtain him, all of your enemies will perish in battle.

Also, Bahamut deals non-elemental damage, which means he can bypass any elemental resistances. Both of his abilities cost 2 ATBs. When his spawn timer runs out, Bahamut will summon a ball of energy from his mouth that damages anyone alive. Additionally, all of his abilities also deal non-elemental damage.

Bahamut Is Great For:

  • Killing single targets like huge bosses or strong enemies.
  • Dealing huge chunks of damage due to his attacks being non-elemental.
  • Eliminating anyone who is left alive after his spawn timer runs out..
  • Great for offensive characters in your party like Cloud or Tifa.

Bahamut Stats:

  • Max MP: +5%
  • ATK: +4
  • MATK: +4
  • STR: +2
  • MAG: +2
