Here are 10 non-Tomb Raider games that fans of the franchise will enjoy just as much, if not more.

10. Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3 is an FPS game that was released in December of 2012, but still holds up today. Players must rescue the protagonists’ friends from pirates after a trip to a tropical island goes wrong. This action-adventure game has RPG elements and can be played in single or multiplayer modes.

With a rich plot and well-developed game world, Far Cry 3 still holds gamers’ attention six years after its release. This game’s long run of success and affiliation with a larger franchise is like Tomb Raider, making the transition from one game to the other quite smooth for fans.

9. Assassin’s Creed Origins

Released in October of 2017, Assassin’s Creed Origins earned favorable critical reception immediately after its publication. This third-person stealth game takes elements of its predecessors and improves upon them, making it a familiar yet wonderfully new experience to Assassin’s Creed fans. With revised combat and a newly added hit-box system, Origins has brought the franchise to a new and improved level.

The narrative of the Assassin’s Creed games is what keeps a lot of players coming back, and Origins does not disappoint. Taking players through historical moments in the Ptolemaic period of Egypt while allowing for a beautiful open world separates Origins from its competition. The game’s voice acting, rich characters, and immersive story are what make Origins a must play.

8. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

This action RPG based on everyone’s favorite fantasy series was released in 2014. This game’s open-world design and combat mechanics were praised by critics and fans alike. While the story is not canon with the Tolkien books, the added characters and narratives play an interesting role throughout the game.

Most notably, Shadow of Mordor included a nemesis system, where some antagonistic “Uruks” that survive encounters with your character will become tracked by the game. These tracked antagonists will be upgraded in the villainous ranks and return as Uruk captains. Combatting with these captains will change the gameplay and lead to higher risks and rewards throughout the game, depending on how you deal with them.

Killing an Uruk that has been tracked by the game helps to debilitate Sauron’s army and provide players with more resources and upgrades.

7. Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is yet to be released, with an estimated publication date of 22 February 2019. [MK1] The FPS game has survival-horror elements incorporated, as your character navigates a nuclear wasteland full of dangerous mutants and threatening NPCs.

Metro Exodus is a continuation of the narrative established by the previous Metro game, Last Light. The game is supposed to have a fun crafting system that allows you to create and upgrade weapons as well as an environment that changes with a day and night cycle. This game should give Tomb Raider fans something to look forward to.

While the game has not met its full potential yet, it has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. In SCUM, your character is a prisoner on a survival reality show, forced to try and survive the grueling environment long enough to figure out how to escape the island they’re on.

SCUM provides an amazingly detailed character customization menu for maximum player control. Players must ensure that their player is eating food to survive, but the nutritional requirements for survival far surpass any other game. Keeping track of your carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and digestive needs all become incredibly important. For gamers up for a challenge, SCUM is the right game.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is also an upcoming game with a release date of 22 March 2019. [MK1] The third-person, action-adventure game is a revenge story of a ninja who was attacked by a samurai. Sekiro takes place in 16th-century Japan and has many influences of the ancient Asian culture throughout the story and gameplay.

The most interesting aspect of Sekiro that has fans eagerly awaiting its release is its combat system. Instead of tracking the damage to an opponent’s HP, the combat mechanics revolve around offsetting your opponent’s balance and poise to then strike a fatal blow. This innovative concept will hopefully make for a great game in early spring of next year.

It’s another post-apocalyptic survival game that takes place in the United States one year after a mysterious disaster known as “The Event” destroyed much of the country.

Tomb Raider fans who appreciate the stealth and environmental aspects of the franchise will like I Am Alive’s gameplay. Like Tomb Raider, this game focuses on exploration. Climbing skyscrapers and walking through destroyed buildings is a common part of I Am Alive. The game can tend to feel like Tomb Raider set in a large, wrecked city.

What is Lorem Ipsum?Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it?It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
