[Top 15] Genshin Impact Best Beginner Characters With Powerful Late Game

We’ve already been through which characters are the best to play with when you start the game. They are all free-to-play characters because, of course, when you’re just starting you don’t have enough primogems to pull for a special character.

In this guide, however, we’re both updating the last one with new information and filtering the character to those that have powerful late game. What do we mean by this? Well, some characters are useful at the start but not so much after progressing. This doesn’t happen with these 15 characters.

15. Barbara

First, we start with Barbara. She’s both an idol and a deaconess of Barbato’s church. Barbara is a free character every Traveler gets when they start the game. This idol girl from Mondstadt is the best 4-star healer in the early game, combining easy gameplay and versatility.

With her Hydro Vision`, she can heal your team in three different ways. You can use her elemental burst for a chunk of healing for all your members. You can use her elemental skill which will make her normal attacks also heal. Or you can change character after using the skill so that the one that is in the field keeps being healed for some time.

• Can auto revive characters at C6.

14. Chongyun

The fourteenth is one of the two exorcists from Liyue. Chongyun with his Cryo vision is a great enabler as well as DPS, with multiple gameplays depending on the rest of your team. His vision is not the only powerful thing, his weapon is a claymore, the one who deals the most damage in the game.

Chongyun’s elemental skill creates an icy area after a powerful nuke. In this area, all of your characters’ basic attacks will be infused with Cryo. Not only does this amplify your damage, but makes it easy to use elemental reactions as well. If you pair him with his friend Hydro Xingqiu they will make a deadly couple.

13. Razor

The boy who grew up in the forest of Wolvedom is 13th. His animal instinct combined with his powerful Electro vision makes him one of the best 4-star damage dealers in the early game. 

With a little bit of energy recharge, you can spam his summoned wolf and destroy everything in your way. After using his elemental burst your damage will double, making additional Electro damage with every hit. It’s also easy to recharge that burst after using twice his elemental skill, which packs a punch as well.

• Naturally high Physical DMG
• Combines Physical DMG and Electro.

12. Beidou

After Razor comes another claymore user character. This pirate woman is a free-to-play 4-star character that is powerful enough to kill a hydra in her sea adventures. Apart from being powerful, she’s charismatic as well, being able to get Kazuha into her crew and Ningguang’s best friend.

Her main ability is a shield, which is really helpful for clumsy beginner players. Moreover, that shield can reflect the damage it receives so that you can both protect yourself and attack your enemies. That’s why she can act as a support and as a damage dealer!

11. Sucrose

Albedo, the 5-star special character, isn't included in this list. However, his assistant and student, Sucrose, is. She is a catalyst user, contrary to his sword-user teacher. That doesn’t make her less powerful in controlling her Anemo element.

Instead of being a full on DPS, she’s mostly a battery support and crowd controller. Having constellations make her even more powerful. Most of all, her elemental burst can pull in enemies from any weight and ready them for their death.

10. Diona

Our little cat-eared bartender who, by the way, doesn’t like alcohol. She’s an archer that wasn’t too liked when she was included. However, after realising her full potential, both beginners and late game players began to use her.

She’s a battery, a shielder. and a healer. First, she has tons of energy recharge. Second, her elemental skill creates a shield that can also attack with little paws. And thirdly, her elemental burst can create a healing and damaging area. She’s really an all-round character.

• Health Recovery and Shield Strength both scale with her HP.
• Elemental Burst can apply constant Cryo on enemies.
• Passive Skill allows her to create more restorative food when cooking.

9. Fischl

Fischl was considered the best support in early-game for a long time. Her fantasy made real, the bird Ozvaldo can launch Electro projectiles once summoned. He stays in the field even if you switch Fischl out. Moreover, you can resummon him without wasting a cooldown if the enemies move.

The way to use Fischl is fairly simple. Although she can be used as a damage dealer, the best way to play with her is as an enabler. Summoning Oz to the field makes it a lot easier for your main DPS, like Diluc, to make elemental reactions and amplify his power.

8. Xiangling

Now onto the last 3 4-star characters, also called National Trio, because of their Liyue +Mondstadter origin. Xiangling’s main use is applying Pyro in a huge range, buffing your team thanks to her constellations, and recharging tons of energy. Apart from her AoE burst, she also has her friend Gouba who (spoiler!) is a god. He can spit flames that burn enemies and buff Xiangling in tons of ways.

7. Xingqiu

Another one of the National Support Trio. Xingqiu’s main ability is his elemental burst, which creates water swords that attack the enemy. His chivalrous spirit, learned from his reading (and writing) of fantasy novels, has been passed to his Hydro vision and shows in the form of those swords. Together with his skill, which can heal, apply Hydro, and stop attacks, he makes a great support both in early and late game.

6. Bennett

Finally, as the last 4-star character in this guide, we find the clumsy adventurer Bennett, who encounters danger just by breathing. He’s, by popular opinion, the best 4-star character, and as such, the most used. 

Why? Well, because of his kit. It’s a bit similar to Diona’s, but his multipliers are overwhelmingly higher. He can recharge tons of energy with his skill to activate his burst constantly. This gives your player lots of healing in seconds and an attack buff that can change the tide of the battle increasing your damage by leaps and bounds.

5. Keqing

Still, in Liyue, we enter the Qixing to look for the cat-eared girl. Keqing has the looks, intellect, and battle skills to defend her 4th place at the top. Her Electro Vision abilities make her fun to play while also being easy to use.

Her elemental skill has a low cooldown, with a passive that reduces it even more, allowing skill spamming. After using it, she gets teleported to where her enemies are (or where you manually decide to) and infuses her weapon with Electro. Her powerful Electro infusion (as well as her fast recharging burst) makes her one of the best DPS in early-game.

4. Qiqi

This little zombie from Liyue has a really bad memory. But that doesn’t mean she forgets how to fight. Although mainly a healer, her healing scales from ATK, so her damage dealing increases along with the healing. This versatile character can also apply Cryo consistently for powerful elemental reactions.

Remember Barbara? Qiqi is similar. After using her elemental skill the character in the field will receive healing for some time. If Qiqi is in the field, her normal attacks will also heal the rest of the team. Moreover, using her elemental burst inflicts Cryo damage to her enemies and makes every character’s normal attacks heal.

3. Jean

Now in the top 3, we find Jean. She’s the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonious. And the Dandelion Knight. And Lionfang Knights. She’s too busy. However, she still finds time to help you win your battles against the Abyss.

She’s flexible. As her healing scales with attack and is done by normal attacks, she can be both a DPS and a healer at the same time. Her elemental skill and burst can control enemies, while also providing her with energy. She’s basically a jack of all trades.

2. Diluc

In second place we find Mondstadt’s Batman. Although Diluc officially left the Knights of Favonius, he still patrols the city at night, preparing for any Abyss threat. Being a bartender is a side job. His powerful sense of justice makes him unable to stop protecting what he loves.

The low cooldown from his elemental skill helps him recharge energy for his burst easily. That way you can have your weapon infused with Pyro element almost all the time. This makes way for heaps of damage and easier elemental reactions.

• Can imbue weapon with Pyro for repeat Elemental Reaction triggers.
• Elemental Burst has a large effect area.
• One of few characters whose CRIT Rate increases with Ascension.

1. Tighnari

Tighari is in first place, and he deserves it. He’s the first character born and raised in Sumeru, the new region of Teyvat. Moreover, after having his special banner, he was included in the permanent free-to-play banner, which is the reason why he was included in this guide.

Well, not the only reason. The other is because he’s really powerful. Shockingly, Dendro (the new element) is powerful because of its elemental reactions. Tighnari being able to apply Dendro with auto-targeted attacks makes him a really easy-to-play ranged DPS. Moreover, his numbers are sky-high.
