[Top 10] Genshin Impact Best Cryo Characters That Are Amazing

Eula protects her city from darkness

Hydro, Electro, Pyro, Geo, Dendro, and finally Cryo. The power of this gelid element is bestowed through Visions to some chosen ones in Teyvat. The Tsaritsa is the Cryo Archon who gives away these Visions, and she has a particular taste.

All of these chosen ones are people with grievances, people who deny the world and want a change. In this guide, we’ll rank all these pitiful but powerful people, so you know who to wish for.

10. Aloy (Enabler)

We start with a special case. Aloy is, as the main characters, a traveller from another world. Born in the world of the game Horizon Zero Dawn, she came to Teyvat and was given a Cryo Vision to take part in your battles.

She’s an incredible support, in particular, increasing the damage of allies. She can buff their ATK and debuff the enemies. Moreover, she has various ways to infuse enemies with the Cryo element, readying them for powerful reactions.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • High Cryo Elemental Burst DMG with low Energy Cost.
  • Can convert her own Normal ATKs into Cryo.
  • Debuffs Enemy ATK while buffs Party Members' ATK.

9. Rosaria (Sub-DPS, Enabler)

Rosaria is a nun from Mondstadt. Well, half a nun. She has to do the prayers, but her main work is done in the shadows. She performs dark deeds to protect the city of Mondstadt. This double face is what made her a Cryo holder.

In battle she also can infuse Cryo element to her enemies, preparing them for freezing or melting reactions. However, thanks to her buffs, she can also act as a sub-DPS and deal sufficient damage to these enemies.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Elemental Skill and Burst are strong against mobs
  • Talents provide consistent Cryo DMG and CRIT Rate
  • Passive Talent increases party's Movement SPD at night (18:00-6:00)

8. Kaeya (Sub-DPS)

This ex-prince from the fallen kingdom of Khaenri’ah now calls himself a Mondstadter, working hard as a Knight of Favonious. The truth of that statement, only he knows. But still, he can help you in battle.

Half-Cryo, half-Physical DPS, he can deal decent damage both with his skills and with his normal attacks. Together with his burst, which can help teammates even if he’s off-field, he’s a powerful sub-DPS.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Short cooldowns for easy Cryo application.
  • Decent Auto-Attack and Elemental Skill DMG multipliers.
  • Elemental Burst persists after swapping characters.

7. Chongyun (Sub-DPS, Enabler)

On Liyue you can easily find Chongyun if you start asking about demons and exorcists. Although powerful, he’s never been able to exorcist anything because demons don’t even go near him. Poor thing.

Even so, he can apply his strength when battling your enemies. His two most powerful weapons are his Cryo field, which makes normal attacks deal Cryo damage; and his burst. That elemental burst is a total nuker that you will be afraid of.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Elemental Skill converts melee damage into cryo for the team.
  • Low Elemental Burst energy cost
  • Elemental Skill allows him to move across water.

6. Shenhe (Sub-DPS, Enabler)

She’s really similar to Chongyun, isn’t she? A lot of people say she’s probably something like her aunt. Her backstory of being raised by adeptus leaves much to the imagination, so we don’t know.

Moreover, her skills are really similar to Chongyun’s, with the exorcist's patterns and so on. She’s an enabler who can deal tons of damage in wide areas while applying Cryo and buffing other Cryo characters. A really cool aunty.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Provides large amounts of Cryo and Physical resistance shred.
  • Tailor-made for mono Cryo teams.
  • Elemental Burst covers a wide area.

5. Diona (Healer, Enabler)

Now onto the second half of the guide. Diona is the next character on the list, a half-human, half-cat character, whose Cryo Vision comes from her denial of her father’s defect: his love for alcohol.

Even though she blames wine, she’s a pro bartender even without training. She can infuse her cocktails with the Cryo element to create damaging areas as well as healing areas. Moreover, her shield can be created in seconds.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Health Recovery and Shield Strength both scale with her HP.
  • Elemental Burst can apply constant Cryo on enemies.
  • Passive Skill allows her to create more restorative food when cooking.

4. Qiqi (Healer, Enabler, Sub-DPS)

Qiqi is an amazing character with a duality that it’s very rare in Genshin Impact, where characters have really defined gameplays: she can be both a healer and a DPS! This is thanks to her Cryo Vision.

Both her damage dealt and her healing increase with her ATK stat, so she can use both at the same time. Her healing is super powerful as well, and she can even become an enabler and create powerful reactions.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Strong Overall Healing
  • Elemental Skill provides heals over time
  • Elemental Burst provides great healing, especially in Co-op.

3. Eula (DPS)

The first one on the podium is Eula. Her cold demeanor, which seems to go hand in hand with her Vision, comes from a long time of being the center of Mondstadter’s hatred. This was all caused by her family, but she shoulders their blame years later.

Even though she’s mainly hated, she still does her best for the city as a Knight. Her battle prowess is amazing, being the character who can deal the most Physical damage. Moreover, her burst is a nuker worth fearing.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Grimheart prevents interruptions while getting attacked.
  • Elemental Skill deals massive AoE DMG, which is effective at clearing mobs.
  • Elemental Burst provides Grimheart and Physical DMG AoE.

2. Kamisato Ayaka (DPS)

The silver medal goes to Kamisato Ayaka, the crane princess of the Kamisato Clan. Her Cryo powers which accompany her hand fan dance seem pretty and pure. However, they come from her shouldering the responsibility of her clan after her parents’ death.

This dance is not the only place her Vision can shine, it’s brilliant in battle as well. She changes her fan for a katana, which is always infused with the element, increasing her attacks’ damage. Her burst’s even one of the most powerful in-game.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • High Base CRIT DMG.
  • Uses a special sprint that's useful for both exploration and combat.
  • High Elemental Burst DMG.
  • Easy Cryo Application with all her Talents.

1. Ganyu (DPS)

Finally, at the top, we find the character who is usually at the podium: Ganyu. This half-human, half-adepti character works for the Qixing in Liyue. This secretary's work doesn’t make her powerful adepti arts disappear.

Fusing the adepti powers with her Cryo Vision, she can launch charged arrows that explode, dealing tons of damage. This makes her one of the best DPS in the game, even without any other characters supporting her.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • High base CRIT DMG.
  • Multiple AoE Skills.
  • Deals massive damage even at C0
  • Provides Cryo DMG Bonus Support.

As you can see, all of these characters received a Vision to help with a problem they had to face, like Qiqi’s death or Kaeya’s deception. However, it has given them the strength to face those problems, and to help you in battle as well. Choose wisely who you want to wish for because all of them are amazing and worth it.
