Since the beginning of PokeTime, Ghost types have been a true staple throughout the Pokemon generations. Throughout the years, the world of Pokemon has made great progress to keep these ghoulish creatures interesting. By changing the abilities and effectiveness from game to game, it’s sure to draw you in!
Although Ghost type Pokemon are weak to themselves (Ghost against Ghost incurs double damage), they are probably one of the coolest and most valuable types. These Pokemon can perform moves well, have great appearances and are the rarest type of Pokemon you can catch!
What’s perfectly wicked about them is that they can’t be prevented from switching out of battle by any effect (for example, the move Mean Look).
They are also a rare type of Pokemon, enticing players to collect them all!
Some of their strengths include:
- Being strong against Ghost and Psychic

- Is immune to Fighting and Normal types
Ranked from strongest to most powerful: here is the list of strongest Ghost type Pokemon.
1. Houndstone
Houndstone consists of a great character design and fantastic learnsets and abilities. With a stat total of 488, Houndstone doesn’t rank the most powerful of the Ghost type, but with the right learnset, use of Feathers, Vitamins, Choice Items and Raid Build: it is a worthwhile Pokemon to have.
Houndstone’s Strengths:
- By leveling up to 46, he learns Phantom Force (90% Accuracy and 100% Damage)
- His Hidden Ability, Fluffy reduces damage from contact moves by 50%.
- His Ability, Sand Rush, doubles its speed during a Sandstorm.
- By giving it a Choice Band or Leftovers, Choice Band can increase the holder’s attack by 1.5 and Leftovers makes it so at the end of every turn, the holder restores 1/16 of its max HP.

2. Sinistcha
Introduced for the first time in the Scarlet and Violet DLC, Sinistcha has a very unique and quirky design!!! It evolves from two forms of Poltchageist: Counterfeit or Artisan. Your Poltchageist will either need an unremarkable or masterpiece teapot to evolve into Sinistcha. Each form has a different location and different Pokedex entries.
Sinistcha’s Strengths include:
- It is partially resistant to Ground, Water, Grass and Electric types.
- Sinistcha has the ability to learn Poltergeist. This move incurs 110 Damage at a 90% Accuracy.
- Grass is one of the best Tera builds for this Pokemon
- Its Hidden Ability, Heatproof, halves the damage taken from Fire-type moves.
- With its Ability, Hospitality, once Sinistcha is in battle, it showers its ally with hospitality, restoring a small amount of the ally's HP.

- With its Hidden Ability, Weak Armor, if it's hit with a physical attack, Defense is lowered and Speed is raised.

- Its Speed and Sp. Atk are no joke
- Moves like Giga Impact and Hyper Beam have extremely high power and accuracy that pair great with its abilities.

- Its Ability, Flash Fire, makes it so that if the Pokémon is hit with a Fire-Type move, it absorbs the flames and uses them to power up its own Fire-type moves.
- Its Hidden Ability, Infiltrator, makes it so Chandelure is unaffected by the target's barriers, substitutes, etc.
- Also resistant to Steel, Fire, Grass, Ice and Fairy types.

7. Dusknoir
Dusknoir’s Strengths:
- Strong Special Defense and Attack stats
- Great moveset versatility
- Its ability, Pressure, makes the enemy use twice as much PP. Which can be great for outstanding strong moves in battle.

8. Basculegion-F
Basculegion-F’s Strengths:
- Resistant to Steel, Fire, Water and Ice types.
- Her Ability, Adaptability increases STAB moves.
- Very unique evolution process: In order to obtain Basculegion-F, you will need to track down a white striped Basculin instead of red or blue striped. Then it needs to lose at least 294 HP from recoil damage.
- Her Hidden Ability, Mold Breaker makes it so her moves bypass her opponent’s Abilities. For example, if the opponent has the Levitate Ability, your attacks will hit anyway.

Decidueye’s Strengths:
- It is resistant against Ground, Water, Grass and Electric types.
- With its Ability Long Reach, Decidueye can use its moves without making contact with the target.
- Its Ability Overgrow powers up Grass type moves when Decidueye’s HP is low.

Flutter Mane is a strong go to for both the ghost and fairy types alike. It dominates the playing field among powerful Pokemon. With a 570 total stat rate, it will crush the competition.
Flutter Mane’s Strengths:
- Stellar is the best choice of Tera Form for this Pokemon. It’s best to do a match-up against Bug, Normal, Fighting and Dragon types.
- It is immune to Dragon, Fighting and Normal types.
- Through its ability, Protosynthesis and by having your Pokemon hold Booster Energy, it activates the Ability and increases its highest stat.

If you like folklore and mythical creatures then this Legendary Pokemon is for you!!! Known for its ghastly appearance and mystical strengths, its signature move, Calm Mind, increases its already powerful Special Attack and Defense.
Keep an eye out for Spectrier– its ghoulish charm and compelling moveset, will leave a lasting impression.
Spectrier’s Strengths:
- Its ability, Grim Neigh has its Special Attack boosted if it knocks out a target.
- Give Spectrier a Life Orb to boost the power of Spectrier's moves by 30%, leading to some residual damage.
- Focus Stash is a great item for Spectrier to hold as well as it prevents it from fainting in battle.
- Mild is the best nature for this Pokemon because its highest IV is Special Attack. Due to Spectrier’s 3 Special Attack EV Yield, this nature is best suited.

14. Pecharunt
Capturing this Ghost/Poison type Pokemon is a super exciting adventure that gives Pokemon lovers one last kookie adventure after you have completed the base game and DLCs. This mochi-like creature can be found by completing the Mochi Mayhem quest. As the prize at the end of the quest, you get to battle and catch this high ranking base stat critter of 600!
Pecharunt’s Strengths:
It is an amazing Defense while also having pretty good stats. If your Pecharunt holds Leftovers, they will gradually restore HP during battle.
Toxic, Mean Look and Recover are great moves for Pecharunt to learn as you can poison the opponent and then keep them from switching out during battle. Recover is great for when it runs low on health and needs a pick-me-up.
It uses its toxic chains in battle to unleash deadly poison on foes, and is the only known Pokemon capable of learning the move Malignant Chain.
Only known Pokemon to have the Ability Poison Puppeteer. If a Pokemon is poisoned by the Ability, then it will also become confused!
From Pecharunt’s strengths and abilities to its undeniable strength, this is a must have for any team. With a stat total of 600, check out its stats,

Pecharunt does not lack in the strengths department and should be considered wisely when choosing your team: its abilities are hard to come by.
15. Dragapult
Found in 5 and 6 star Tera Raids, Dragapult is terrifyingly strong and hard to come by. From its dazzling good looks to its sharp competitive play– it is number 15 on the list of strongest Pokemon.
Dragapult’s Strengths:
- Resistant to Electric, Grass, Water and Fire Types.
- Its Ability, Infiltrator, ignores substitutes and protective moves like Light Screen or Aurora Veil.
- Its Hidden Ability, Cursed Body may disable a move that has dealt damage to the Pokemon.
- Dragon Darts is a strong STAB move to utilize!
- Fairy Tera Type is the best for this Pokemon! It flips its Dragon weakness (Fairy is super effective against Dragon types), into an immunity and grants a Dark resistance.

Given all of Dragapult’s abilities, this makes it a S-tier Pokemon. Being one of the best in the overall game, you should keep a look out for this dangerous dragon!
