SWBF2 Best Heavy Cards

With the huge number of different Boost Cards and card combinations you can have in Star Wars Battlefront II, you may be wondering which are the best. If you’re struggling for Battle Points or even to stay alive, read on for a list of the seven best Star Cards for the Heavy Class in Star Wars Battlefront II.

Top 7 best cards (worst to best)

7) Improved Combat Shield

If you enjoy using the Combat Shield, you will find this Ability Card to be essential. I find the original to be too weak for common use, so the improved health with this card is certainly more useful.

Effect(s):

  • “An improved version of the Combat Shield featuring additional health and quicker recharge. RETRIGGER ACTION: undeploy shield.”

Stats:

  • Common: Shield Health 200
  • Uncommon: Shield Health 225
  • Rare (unlocked at Heavy Level 22) : Shield Health 250
  • Epic (unlocked at Heavy Level 35): Shield Health 300

Best builds / combinations:

  • Improved Combat Shield + Survivalist + Resourceful or Expert Weapons Handling - good for games with many players
  • Improved Combat Shield + Bounty Hunter + Expert Weapons Handling - good for games with fewer players (e.g. Blast)

6) Expert Weapons Handling

This Boost Card allows you to fire your weapon for longer before needing to cool it down (reload). This makes it very useful in Supremacy / Galactic Assault, especially when you use a blaster with initially poor cooling power.

Effect(s):

  • “Your weapon cooling success states are longer”

Stats:

  • Common (unlocked at Heavy Level 25): Super success cooling duration 7
  • Uncommon: Super success cooling duration 8
  • Rare: Super success cooling duration 9
  • Epic (unlocked at Heavy Level 35): Super success cooling duration 10

Best builds / combinations:

  • Expert Weapons Handling + Survivalist + Resourceful - good survival build, especially in Supremacy / Galactic Assault

5) Bounty Hunter

I like using this Boost Card when I do not want to play with the standard troopers as much. Equipping it earns you Battle Points at a faster rate. It can be useful in all game modes; however, I find it more useful in modes with fewer players such as Blast, where earning Battle points is slower. While you can’t play as a hero in this mode, this card ensures you unlock the stronger troopers (e.g. Enforcer) much faster. If you prefer playing with heroes or special units, this card is a necessity.

Effect(s):

  • “Gain Battle Points at an increased rate.”

Stats:

  • Common (unlocked at Heavy Level 20): Increased Battle Point gain 5%
  • Uncommon: Increased Battle Point gain 10%
  • Rare (unlocked at Heavy Level 22): Increased Battle Point gain 15%
  • Epic (unlocked at Heavy Level 35): Increased Battle Point gain 20%

Best builds / combinations:

  • Bounty Hunter + Survivalist + Expert Weapons Handling or Resourceful - good survival build, especially useful for earning Battle Points to spend on heroes or stronger units
  • Bounty Hunter + Resourceful or Barrage + Supercharged Sentry or Barrage - damage dealing build for gaining Battle Points

4) Barrage

I find this Ability Card is a massive offensive improvement over the Combat Shield it replaces. It’s essentially a grenade launcher, and it’s especially useful when shooting at multiple enemies in close spaces, such as the corridors in Death Star II. When playing Supremacy or Galactic Assault on a map like this, I always equip it.

Effect(s):

  • “In the Barrage configuration, this MPL (Multi-Purpose Launcher) fires multiple small grenades.”

Stats:

  • Common (unlocked at Heavy Level 20): Recharge time 40 seconds
  • Uncommon: Recharge time 38 seconds
  • Rare (unlocked at Heavy Level 22): Recharge time 36 seconds
  • Epic (unlocked at Heavy Level 35): Recharge time 32 seconds

Best builds / combinations:

  • Barrage + Supercharged Sentry + Resourceful or Survivalist - good in Supremacy / Galactic Assault

3) Survivalist

This card reduces the time you have to wait for your health regeneration to begin. It is especially useful in fast-paced combat where you do not have much time to regenerate health. If getting high kill streaks or earning Battle Points is important to you, make sure you equip this card!

Effect(s):

  • “Your health regeneration delay is shorter than normal”

Stats:

  • Common (unlocked at Heavy Level 30): Health regeneration delay reduction 20%
  • Uncommon: Health regeneration delay reduction 25%
  • Rare: Health regeneration delay reduction 30%
  • Epic (unlocked at Heavy Level 35): Health regeneration delay reduction 40%

Best builds / combinations:

  • Survivalist + Supercharged Sentry + Resourceful or Barrage - good for Supremacy / Galactic Assault modes
  • Survivalist + Bounty Hunter + Expert Weapons Handling or Resourceful - good survival build, especially useful for earning Battle Points to spend on heroes or stronger units

2) Resourceful

This Boost Card reduces the cooldown of all three trooper abilities. This is very useful in intense game modes such as Supremacy where there are many players.

Effect(s):

  • “All of your abilities have shorter recharge times.”

Stats:

  • Common (unlocked at Heavy Level 15): Increases ability recharge speed by 10%
  • Uncommon: Increases ability recharge speed by 15%
  • Rare (unlocked at Heavy Level 22): Increases ability recharge speed by 20%
  • Epic (unlocked at Heavy Level 35): Increases ability recharge speed by 28%

Best builds / combinations:

  • Resourceful + Supercharged Sentry + Barrage or Survivalist - meta heavy card combination. Good for Supremacy / Galactic Assault

1) Supercharged Sentry

This Ability Card replaces the Sentry (middle ability) with an improved version that deals much more damage. I find this card is a must, especially in game modes with heroes, vehicles, or many players such as Galactic Assault.

Effect(s):

  • “A supercharged version of Sentry with a small explosive blast added to each shot. In this version, besides taking reduced explosive damage, your health regeneration starts as you deploy into Sentry mode.”

Stats:

  • Common (unlocked at Heavy Level 30): Recharge time 25 seconds
  • Uncommon : Recharge time 23 seconds
  • Rare: Recharge time 21 seconds
  • Epic (unlocked at Heavy Level 35): Recharge time 18 seconds

Best builds / combinations:

  • Supercharged Sentry + Resourceful + Barrage or Survivalist - meta heavy card combination. Good for Supremacy / Galactic Assault

Conclusion

The Star Cards you equip can massively change your playing experience, so it’s essential to have the right combination to match the scenario and your playing style. If you enjoy getting stuck into the heat of combat with the Heavy trooper, then I recommend looking at the Supercharged Sentry, Survivalist, Resourceful, and Expert Weapons Handling cards. If you like being further away, or playing games with fewer players, consider the Improved Combat Shield. Or, if you’re only after Battle Points, ensure you equip the Bounty Hunter card.
