Terraria Best Accessories Modifiers - Which is Best?

An accessory with a good modifier

Having the best accessories in the game is good, but modifiers are what make your build unique. Your must accessories have the best prefixes as they offer everything from increasing your offensive capabilities to better survivability. There are over 20 different modifiers that accessories can get, that’s why we’re here to give you a comprehensive guide to Terraria’s best accessories modifiers that are guaranteed to help you win the game.

6. Movement Speed

Gotta get that flow!

Movement is one of the best things to have in terms of dodging and staying out of trouble. That’s why boot-type accessories are a MUST in this game. But what do you do if you just can’t get enough speed going? The answer is: movement speed modifiers.

What’s good about Movement Speed modifiers:

  • Helps improve maneuverability
  • Breaks the cap of max movement provided by boot accessories
  • If you modify all your accessories with move speed, you can get up to 20% in Journey and Normal mode and up to a maximum of 28% in Expert and Master mode.

List of Movement Speed modifiers:

  • Brisk - 1% movement speed
  • Fleeting - 2% movement speed
  • Hasty - 3% movement speed
  • Quick - 4% movement speed

5. Mana

Gives you extra juice for your magic spells.

Being a mage is troublesome if you run out of mana. Even with the help of Mana Regen potions, sometimes, it just ain’t enough. The best way to counter this would be to add the Arcane modifier to any of your accessories. It gives you a whopping increase to your max mana, making you able to fire more spells for more damage!

What’s good about the Arcane modifier:

  • Gives you more Mana for spells, comparable to more ammo for ranged weapons.
  • If you modify all your accessories with mana, you can get up to +100 mana in Journey and Normal mode and up to a maximum of +140 mana in Expert and Master mode.

Arcane modifier stats:

  • +20 mana

4. Melee Speed

More slashes mean more damage

Increasing your attack speed when using melee weapons is a very good way to increase your DPS. However, there aren’t really that many ways to do this aside from the glove-type accessories. If you really need that extra ‘umph’ to your melee speed, modifiers are the way to go.

What’s good about Melee Speed modifiers:

  • Offers a significant increase in DPS
  • If you modify all your accessories with melee speed, you can get up to 20% in Journey and Normal mode and up to a maximum of 28% in Expert and Master mode.

List of Melee Speed modifiers:

  • Wild - +1% melee speed
  • Rash - +2% melee speed
  • Intrepid - +3% melee speed
  • Violent - +4% melee speed

3. Critical Strike Chance

Warning: Does not increase drop rates.

For classes that already have high attack speed, having more Critical Strike Chance is the way to go. Almost all classes benefit from this modifier, with the only exception being the summoner class due to the inability of minions to do natural crits.

What’s good about Critical Strike Chance:

  • Provides a huge increase in overall damage done.
  • If you modify all your accessories with critical strike chance, you can get up to 20% in Journey and Normal mode and up to a maximum of 28% in Expert and Master mode.

List of Critical Strike Chance modifiers:

  • Precise - +2% critical strike chance
  • Lucky - +4% critical strike chance

2. Damage

More damage means…uhhh…you get the idea.

If attack speed and critical strike chance are not your thing, the next best thing would be to increase your overall damage. Damage modifiers apply to all sources of player damage and are one of the best choices when it comes to accessory modifiers.

What’s good about Damage:

  • Applying a percentile increase in damage makes enemies and bosses melt faster.
  • If you modify all your accessories with damage, you can get up to 20% in Journey and Normal mode and up to a maximum of 28% in Expert and Master mode.

List of Damage modifiers:

  • Jagged - +1% damage
  • Spiked - +2% damage
  • Angry - +3% damage
  • Menacing - +4% damage

1. Defense

Defense is the best offense. Trust me.

Survivability is one of the best ways to guarantee success in Terraria. Aside from armor, there are only a handful of items that increase overall defense, and trust us when we say that every point in defense counts. A difference of 4 points of armor is enough to survive 1 more hit that would allow you to get one more heal in. Awesome, right?

What’s good about Defense:

  • Applying a percentile increase in damage makes enemies and bosses melt faster.
  • If you modify all your accessories with damage, you can get up to 20% in Journey and Normal mode and up to a maximum of 28% in Expert and Master mode.

List of Defense modifiers:

  • Hard- +1 defense
  • Guarding - +2 defense
  • Armored - +3 defense
  • Warding - +4 defense
