Alistar has always been a strong warrior with a reputation for being scary. He wants to get back at the Noxian Empire for killing his clan.
Even though he was a slave and had to be a gladiator, it was his strong will that kept him from becoming a real beast. Now that he is free from the chains of his former masters, he fights for the weak and the poor, using his anger as much as his horns, hooves, and fists.
This is a full article on how to place Alistar in TFT to make sure that no one misses with the horn.
You can't milk those.
No civilization has withstood Noxus longer than the Great Barrier mountain tribes. These powerful minotaurs had maintained the overland trade routes to the old city of Zaun for ages, but they avoided Valoran's greater battles.
All clans admired Alistar's bravery. His roar on the mountaintops scared off even the toughest trespassers, leaving only the reckless to fight him. In the moot rooms, he constantly urged his clan to strengthen connections with other mortal races. Minotaurs were considered animals, which soured interactions and kept them as outsiders.
Noxus promised better. The House Tewain matriarch announced that the empire will conquer Basilich, a seaside city to the east. She swore that they would not do this without the cooperation of the major mountain tribes and requested neutral ground negotiations. Minotaurs eagerly accepted her offer. Joining Noxus gave them power and recognition.
Alistar was cautious since he had met numerous Noxian scouts recently and knew they were deceitful. His clan dispatched him and fifty of their strongest warriors to Tewain to refuse any alliance. Alistar would not submit to a faraway "Grand General" like the other clans. His family was betrayed during the truce.
The major clans had already pledged themselves to Noxus, and their delegates turned against him when he announced his stance. Alistar shattered Lady Tewain's skull with his own hands, but he and his remaining soldiers were soon chained and sent to the Noxian capital, accused of instigating revolt.
These poor minotaurs were sent to the Reckoning arenas as part of the city's dark gladiator festival, "The Fleshing." The savage crowds' yelling horrified Alistar. He encouraged his clanfolk not to fight back, not to give these Noxians the horrific spectacle they desired.
Alistar was the last tribe member left twenty-one days after the celebration. He was pelted with rocks and rotten fruit from the mob and had to combat Reckoner after Reckoner. He killed till his memories of home were bloody.
When he encountered arena servant Ayelia, Alistar had fallen far. He shouted and stormed the cage bars, expecting Ayelia to dread or goad him like the others, but she did neither.
She visited him daily and spoke respectfully till Alistar reciprocated. Ayelia saw Noxus's pain and decided they should escape this awful city together. She whispered her ideas through the bars, and for the first time in years, Alistar could think about home without remembering how it was ripped from him.
Ayelia gave Alistar his cell key one night. He promised to compensate her tenfold for her sacrifice to escape.
They ran to a cargo vessel in the river. Noxian agents emerged as they boarded. Alistar charged into fight with anger, ignoring Ayelia's calls.
Alistar escaped south on foot after killing their attackers since the boat and Ayelia were gone. The servant girl eluded him. Was she taken? Killed? No hints remained.
The arena minotaur's escape was forgotten as a political upheaval shattered the empire weeks later.
Alistar now travels alone, silently and anonymously, inciting opposition in Noxian-held territory and battling for the oppressed. Alistar won't return to the mountains until he's paid back every kindness and cruelty.
He queries Ayelia in every city.
