Hello, tankers
We know the Japanese are one the parts of axis units in WW2. They fought the USA generally.
In history, there are not many tank battles over there. So Japanese tanks are not in our knowledge much. But in the game, they gained their place. Especially after Japan Heavy Tanks, their popularity increased.
In-game people know, their mediums are paper-thin armored. Heavies are bulky and easy to flank. But are these all of that?
Our today’s topic is them. Let's see what they have, why they gained people’s interest again.
Here are the best Japanese tanks.
Tier VI
Type 4 Chi-To
Image
- DPM— 2140 HP
- Penetration— 155 mm
- Aim Time— 2.01 sec.
- Dispersion— 0.35 m
- Top Speed— 45 km/h
- Camouflage Values— 12.57 / 3.1
Conclusion
- Chi-To is a great all arounder without any piece of armor…
- Its gun is very useful within its tier. Great accuracy, DPM and decent penetration gather this gun. With a great depression angle, you can use this tank anywhere without a doubt.
- Mobility is decent. The top speed is a bit low against other medium tanks, still, acceleration and traverse speeds are good.
- It has no armor and a big hull for a non-armored medium tank. You have to be careful especially for artillery. They can penetrate and deal huge damages.
Tier VII
O-Ni
Image
- DPM— 1720 HP
- Aim Time— 3.16 sec.
- Dispersion— 0.4 m
- Top Speed— 25 km/h
- Turret Armor— 200 mm
- Hull Armor— 175 mm
Conclusion
- O-Ni is a dream tank for the Japanese army. It was just on a plan, never built just on the blueprint. It's a bit absurd to take these tanks to tech-tree. But it's a Wargaming Problem.
- O-Ni is a dangerous beast face to face.
- It has a 100 mm gun with very poor accuracy and a bit of poor penetration. The gun is bad because of balancing factors.
- The factor for balancing is its armor. It’s almost impenetrable within its tier. Very high HP points support survivability. Lower tiers can’t penetrate it even with gold shells.
- Mobility is as expected. Very bad top speed and traverse speeds. But acceleration is not bad for a tank like that.
- The problem is getting flanked, side armors like a wall and has very thin armor. With poor mobility, it is very vulnerable to flank positions. Sometimes little turrets can be easy to hit points.
- Arty and gold shells won’t leave you the entire game. It affects gameplay very badly.
- It has the worst camouflage values in the game, you will get spotted before you spot enemies and poor mobility won’t let you change position.
Tier VIII
STA-1
Image
- DPM— 2310 HP
- Penetration— 219 mm
- Aim Time— 2.11 sec.
- Dispersion— 0.36 m
- Top Speed— 45 km/h
- Camouflage Values— 15.47 / 3.68
Conclusion
- STA-1 is an improved version of Chi-to. They both have the same characteristics.
- It's a great 90 mm gun doing its job very well. Great DPM, penetration, aim time, penetration. Bit poor accuracy by the way. Depression is excellent on the front, but at the rear arc, there is no depression.
- Like before it has great mobility. Top speed is a bit low but acceleration and traverse speeds are great.
- With excellent camouflage values, you can be a tank destroyer with no doubt. But be wise before taking a position.
- Because it has paper-thin armor, it is very vulnerable against HE shells. Anybody can penetrate, should avoid getting spotted.
- Save distance with enemies always.
Tier IX
Type 4 Heavy
Image
- DPM— 1896 HP
- Penetration— 257 mm
- Aim Time— 2.78 sec.
- Dispersion— 0.4 m
- Top Speed— 25 km/h
- Turret Armor— 250 mm
- Hull Armor— 250 mm
Conclusion
- One of the real beasts of tier IX. Very huge, very strong, very slow. Here is the Type 4 Heavy.
- Its 140 mm gun is like a good penetrating howitzer. Excellent alpha damage, depression and penetration. But aim time, DPM and accuracy are very poor.
- Its main thing is its armor. 250 mm in front. Excellent thickness even against tier X’s. With very high HP, it’s born for survivability.
- Mobility is very poor. Hardly reaches its top speed, which is already bad. Very poor traverse speed makes these tank players very patient.
- It is one of the biggest tanks in the game. This means, arty and gold shells will be all over you.
- The flat surface of armor can’t hold all of the shells, especially gold shells. The huge cupola on the turret is easy to hit.
Tier X
STB-1
Image
- DPM— 3173 HP
- Penetration— 258 mm
- Aim Time— 1.92 sec.
- Dispersion— 0.35 m
- Top Speed— 50 km/h
- View Range— 400 m
Conclusion
- STB-1 is a single Japan tank that has a hydraulic suspension. It’s like a masterpiece.
- Especially its 105 mm gun. Excellent DPM, penetration. With the hydraulic suspension, depression angles will be excellent too. Hills will be your friends with this tank.
- Accuracy is decent, sometimes it can mislead. But last of all its gun is very useful.
- Armor is a bit of a different story. Turret armor is very good, especially on hills. But other than that, there is no armor. Very vulnerable without turret armor. You have to use the hull down position every time.
- HP is a bit high for better survivability, but it's better to not get shot.
- Mobility is great. The top speed is a bit low like other Japanese mediums I mentioned. But acceleration and traverse speed are great.
