Just upgraded to TH13 or you never really cared about using different Army Compositions? Well, then I am glad you are reading this article as I will explain in it what are, in my opinion, the best compositions for Town Hall 13.
So obviously, when upgrading your Town Hall you unlock new buildings, traps, and Heroes and you can upgrade each to a higher and better level. Because of that, the best army compositions may differ at different town hall levels.
At TH13 you will be able to train 300 troops, have 11 Spells, and request to your Clan Castle an additional 45 troops and 2 Spells. This gives you a huge flexibility to choose a great Army Composition that suits you best.
Having a good army composition is vital in Clash of Clans. Depending on your goal, whether it is to earn trophies, or win in your Clan Wars or Clan War League battles, you need to have a good army. With each level, you will have to face stronger enemies, as the loot from weaker opponents will only get smaller.
Because of that, you will need a good army composition that will allow you to overcome stronger or similarly powerful opponents.
7. Blizzard Dragon (Clan War)

Let’s start this ranking with this Army Composition, a very effective and deadly one to use in a Clan War. The use of the Invisibility Spells can make this attack very deadly and very useful to you.
I believe that any attack with the huge number of Dragons and Balloons is a force to be reckoned with. This is also the biggest strength of Blizzard Dragon’s composition. An additional combination of Battle Blimp and Invisibility Spells is certainly another big advantage of this Army Composition.
The two most crucial things you need to keep in mind are to use Invisibility Spells at the correct moments and to allocate your troops well. If you manage to do that, then you can be calm about the outcome of your attack. What’s more, use Rage Spell at the correct time as well.
How To Use This Composition:
- use your Battle Blimp with Lava Hound and before you pop it next to the Town Hall use your Rage and Invisibility Spells
- use your Invisibility Spells every 4 seconds to make sure that your troops take out the Town Hall and most of the core defenses
- from one side of the base send in the Barbarian King and Archer Queen
- send in your Blizzard from the other side of the line
- use all your Balloons, Dragons and send Grand Warden and Royal Champion as well
- use Rage Spell when your troops enter the base
- with the help of the Royal Champion try to make sure that your troops stay on target with the main defense inside the base
- use Warden Ability when necessary
- try to send your troops behind the Air Sweeper

Overall, Dragon Attacks are always fun to use. That is my personal opinion and I often use such Army Compositions. The Clone Dragon Attack takes this a notch further and adds a nice spin to regular Army Composition dependent on Dragons.
The major power of this Army Composition is that it heavily relies on huge offensive power and rapid attack. You inflict huge damage on the enemy’s base and you can quickly get the win with this particular composition.
Keep in mind that the use of Clone Spells is very important with this composition. Moreover, aim your Lightning Spells well and use the Rage Spell at the correct moment. If you do that, then you should be able to get the most out of this strategy.
How To Use This Composition:
- use your Lightning Spells to destroy Air Sweepers
- deploy your Archer Queen and use her ability to destroy Air Defense
- on the other side of the line deploy your Barbarian King to create a funnel for your troops
- deploy your troops along with Battle Blimp and your Grand Warden
- use an early Rage Spell as well as Grand Warden Ability to make sure that your troops get the most important defenses
- when Blimp reaches the enemy’s Town Hall use your Clone and Rage Spell
- if needed then use Clone Spell again
- use your Royal Champion from the last side of the base
- use for trophy push on square-type bases

One of the most popular types of composition involves Super Witches. When using this ability “Zap” is probably the most important factor if you want to succeed. Overall, a great composition to use.
When it comes to powers and capabilities, this composition isn’t on my top but it can be really successful regardless. If you maxed out your Lightning and Earthquake Spells, then you can certainly use this composition.
Remember to aim your spells well when you begin your attack. Also, make sure to perform the Warden Walk well and create a funnel so that your troops enter the base. These points are crucial if you want to succeed.
How To Use This Composition:
- use your Lightning and Earthquake Spells to destroy as much of major defenses as possible
- deploy Grand Warden for Warden Walk
- when Warden starts to take damage then deploy all Healers and create the pathing for your troops
- on the other side of the line deploy Barbarian King, Archer Queen, and your Siege Barracks
- once you created a funnel try to make sure that you deploy your troops where Grand Warden’s Ability encompasses them
- use Super Wall Breakers to break inside the core of the base
- use an early Rage Spell and use your Warden Ability once deep inside the base
- to get through the next walls use Jump Spell
- use for Trophy Push

4. Queen Charge LavaLoon (Trophy Push)

This Army Composition is like most LavaLoon-type compositions. You need to make sure that your Queen Charge is successful and clears major defenses. Once you do this, then it is just the question of performing a successful LavaLoon attack combined with Heroes and spell use.
I consider this Army Composition as one of the most powerful in the game. If your Queen is maxed out, then you can clear out a huge and important chunk of the enemy’s base. Combine it with a successful LavaLoon offensive and you get three stars easily.
There is obviously one thing you need to make sure to successfully use this Army Composition - do the Queen Charge correctly. Get as much damage as possible. Also, activate Warden’s ability right before you trigger the Giga Inferno.
How To Use This Composition:
- create the pathing for the Queen, deploy on one side of the line Baby Dragon and on the other Sneaky Goblins
- once you deploy Archer Queen and Healers, use Balloons to target Air Defense so that it doesn’t target your Healers
- try to create a funnel anywhere where you would be able to destroy Eagle Artillery and, if possible, Royal Champion
- from the other side of the base deploy your Balloons along with your Barbarian King and Grand Warden
- along with your attack send in Stone Slammer as well
- try to have at least 5-8 Balloons left at this point
- before the Giga Inferno activates use Warden’s ability on your troops
- use Haste Spell to speed up your Balloon attack
- from the other side of the base use your remaining Balloons and Minions to target the remaining defenses
- use for Multiplayer Battles

This particular Army Composition is all about Smash and Splash. Your major point is to get your Super Bowlers inside the base and from here they will do the rest. When you add the use of spells and other troops, you get this awesome Army Composition.
I think that this particular strategy is one of the easier ones and is very fun to use. When Warden Walk is successful and you manage to get inside the enemy's base, then it’s easy from here. If you keep your troops alive, the damage they deal is incredible.
The thing you need to keep in mind is that your Grand Warden cannot be placed where he will get hit severely. You need to keep the Warden Walk for about a minute, clear the buildings, create a funnel, and allow your Super Bowlers to enter directly into the enemy’s base. If you do that, then you will have completed the most difficult task.
How To Use This Composition:
- perform the Warden Walk, deploy your Grand Warden out of the range of defense
- clear out most of the buildings, follow the Warden with all Healers
- create a funnel by using a Yeti on one side of the Warden and a Baby Dragon on the other
- use Siege Barracks and Barbarian King on one corner to cut off one side of the funnel and let the Super Bowlers later enter the base easily
- send in your Ice Golem, Super Bowlers, and Apprentice Warden
- send in Super Wall Breakers to open up the base a bit
- use early Rage Spell and Warden’s Spell when approaching Town Hall to boost your Bowlers
- use Jump Spell to get inside the core of the base and Freeze Spells when needed
- on the back of the base send the Royal Champion and the rest of your troops to clear out the defenses and remaining buildings
- use for Trophy Push

2. Hero Dive LavaLoon (Clan War League)

In my opinion, Hero Dives are one of the best strategies to do. It is quite an easy yet very effective Army Composition that can guarantee you great results. When you get experience using it, it will become a great asset for you.
If the Hero Dive is performed well then this composition is unstoppable. If you manage to take out major defenses, especially the splash damage ones, and the enemy’s Town Hall, then there is no way you can’t three-star a base.
I would recommend you only try using this Army Composition when your Heroes are all maxed out. They are after all the major point of this composition. Other than that, try practicing the Hero Dive as much as possible in Single Player Battles to use it proficiently during Clan War League.
How To Use This Composition:
- send in the Golems in the direction where you want to head
- deploy your Sneaky Goblins on one side when you can and Yeti on the other to create a funnel for the troops
- deploy your Log Launcher, Barbarian King, and Archer Queen to get inside the base and move toward the center
- you can use Haste Spells and Skeleton Spells when needed
- send the Royal Champion to the side of your Hero Dive attack to clear additional defenses
- make sure you deal with some major defenses, Clan Castle troops, and Town Hall during Hero Dive
- send Lava Hound first and then the Balloons and Minions to target the major defenses first
- keep sending the Balloons around the perimeter of the base
- use remaining Haste Spells to get your Balloons to the Wizard Towers and other splash damage defenses
- use for Clan War League

1. Miner / Hog Rider Hybrid (Clan War)
The Miner / Hog Rider Hybrid Army Composition
My personal favorite Army Composition at TH13. The Miner / Hog Rider Hybrid is a very offensive tactic that will guarantee you great results in any Clan War. When you become an expert in using it, you will see just how great this composition is.
I think that the best part of this composition is that it relies on Queen Walk at first which isn’t very offensive and is rather slow-paced. However, as you clear out a good chunk of the enemy's base, you suddenly go all out and deploy a huge wave of attack which completely demolishes your opponent. When you master this composition, you will become a real force to be reckoned with.
As always when using Queen Walk or Charge, you have to make sure that it is successful. You need to make sure that your Archer Queen enters the enemy's base and that it clears out some major defenses preferably Clan Castle’s troops. If you succeed in doing this, then the rest of your attack should be much easier.
How To Use This Composition:
- deploy your Archer Queen on one side of the base with Healers and do the Queen Walk
- before deploying Healers use one Balloon to check for any Air Mines
- Use wall Breakers to get the Queen inside the base and support her with one Head Hunter
- try to take out as many major defenses as possible and Heroes, also try to lure Clan Castle troops
- use a Poison Spell on CC troops and a Rage Spell on Archer Queen
- on the opposite side of the base deploy Barbarian King and Siege Barracks
- once the funnel has been created use the Hog Riders and Miners supported by the Grand Warden and Royal Champion to sweep through the base
- use Heal Spells when your troops encounter major defenses
- deploy Freeze Spell on TH13 once you approach it and later right before destroying it use the Warden’s Ability
- use for Clan War
