A video game running smoothly on 60+ FPS is every gamer's dream. The higher, the better. It's a no-brainer when playing video games to have better gameplay. But sometimes you might want to play your favorite game like CSGO, and it may suddenly start to stutter, or have lag or have low FPS because of new updates.
Well, fear not, my friends. Today, we will discuss and show you which settings you should tweak to achieve smooth, high FPS gameplay in CSGO. The majority of the settings that we will discuss are Advanced Video settings. Every game takes resources from the hardware. The graphic card has the most impact on High/Low FPS in video games.
This guide will help your CSGO run as smoothly as possible. Everything will work out great, and you will be happy to see a considerable number of changes in your FPS. This will help you achieve the best possible FPS for CSGO to be satisfied with everything you do in-game. Sadly it won't increase your luck with opening cases. I hope it did though. I need it!
10) Global Shadow Quality
I have a lot of experience playing video games, and let me say this straight off the bat: Shadow quality takes lots and lots of resources. I mean, even the game I have developed takes a massive impact on FPS when it's set to even just High than medium. The same is for CSGO, and the shadow quality setting is of great importance to tweak. And it would help if you changed it to have a massive boost in FPS.
Don't worry. It won't make your experience less fun because, in CSGO, even the lowest possible option for shadow quality is acceptable and pleasant to look at.
How Global Shadow Quality Fixes The Problem
- Reduces massive stress on your Graphic Card
- Boosts FPS a lot
- In some cases may help spot enemies easily
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Advanced Video settings>Global Shadow Quality. If it is on a high by default, change it to the lowest possible option.
9) Multicore Rendering
When you first launch CSGO, this setting might be off by default because CSGO may not enable it at first. Almost every gamer nowadays has at least a quad-core CPU in their gaming rig. Turning on this option lets you take advantage of all those multicores in your CPU, thus solving many problems such as low FPS.
With the disabled option, the cores of your CPU are asleep and are not using the full potential, so enable it to unleash the best performance it is capable of.
How Multicore Rendering Fixes The Problem
- Make your multi-cores usable
- Increases FPS by a small percentage
- Let you take advantage of more speed to have smoother gameplay.
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Advanced Video Settings> Multicore Rendering. If it is disabled by default, Enable it.
8) Model/Texture Detail
If you have a high-end graphics card, I am sure you will want to play games with maximum detailed graphics as possible. I mean, everyone wants to play every game @4k on 60 FPS. But right now, most gamers don't have access to such high-end graphic cards. And for that reason, the models/textures are sometimes taking lots of juice from the graphic card when set to ultra or high, which leads to low FPS.
How Model/Texture Detail Fixes The Problem
- Makes the models/textures in-game of lower quality to enhance FPS
- Reduces the polycount of every 3d model in-game putting less stress on the graphics card
- Make the gameplay smooth and fast
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Advanced Video Settings>Model/Texture Detail. Make it to the lowest possible option for the most increase in FPS
- If you have a high-end card, then use a medium to High for spotting enemies better
7) Multisampling Anti-Aliasing Mode
From what I understand is the multisampling anti-aliasing mode sharpens the edges of 3d models. It makes the scenery of the world crisp and sharp, thus giving a beautiful eye-catching view. But in a competitive game like CSGO, no one plays it to see the scenery but to get frags and win the match. And that can't happen when you have low FPS. Multisampling Anti-Aliasing mode has a significant impact on FPS and performance in CSGO.
How Multisampling Anti-Aliasing Mode Fixes The Problem
- Remove some sharpness from game maps
- Reduces lag and improve FPS drastically
- Fixes stuttering issues on some machines
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Advanced Video Settings> Multisampling Anti-Aliasing Mode. Click on "None" to turn it off completely.
6) Motion Blur
Motion Blur in CSGO is a big NO from all pros and the overall majority of the CSGO community. The reason is to have a better experience of fast-paced matches, quick decision-making, and clear imagery when playing. Motion blur causes extra lag and lowers FPS on certain occasions, which is not something we want.
How Motion Blur Fixes The Problem
- Boosts FPS
- Turned off can help spot opponents much better
- All pros have disabled this option to have better gameplay.
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Advanced Video Settings>Motion Blur. Choose the disabled option from the drop-down.
5) Effect Detail
Video games have various effects such as particle effects, bullets effects, smokes and grenades, explosion effects, etc., which all relate to FPS in games. Every effect has its impact on FPS, such as some players may experience lag while explosion happening or while making fire with a Molotov, which doesn't sit well with competitive gamers. Even a tiny lag or FPS drop can cause a whole match to be lost.
How Effect Detail Fixes The Problem
- Lowering Effect Detail will increase FPS
- High Effect detail might help to see through effects more clearly but with the cost of losing FPS.
- It makes gameplay much smoother and fast.
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Advanced Video Settings>Effect Detail. Choose "Low" from the drop-down menu.
4) FXAA Anti-Aliasing
FXAA stands for Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing, and it analyzes pixels on the screen. But what does it do to them? Well, it's a nifty little shader program that runs every frame in the smallest of milliseconds. Wherever it sees a pixel, it creates an artificial edge and smoothens them, thus giving the sharp look of 3d models. All that fancy talk is fine but what it does is hugely impact our FPS in games.
How FXAA FXAA-Aliasing Fixes The Problem
- Disabling it increase FPS
- The temperature of graphic card underuse may decrease
- Smoothens the gameplay to have a better experience
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Advanced Video Settings>FXAA Anti-Aliasing. Select disabled for increasing FPS.
3) Shader Detail
Shader in a video game is how the game world looks in a certain way. For example, if you play a video game that looks like an anime, it has an anime shader. For a cartoonish look, it's a cartoon shader, like that. CSGO also has a unique shader that was programmed and made using many different filters and tweaks and nodes and extra nerdy stuff. The better-looking shader is, the more complicated it runs in the background. Everything needs to be calculated fast to create an optimized world. But for low-end PCs, increasing shader detail might cause low FPS.
How Shader Detail Fixes The Problem
- Reduces the shader detail level to boost FPS
- In some cases might help body parts easier to spot
- Creates a simple world in minor Detail but fast performance
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Advanced Video Settings>Shader Detail. Select "Low" from the drop-down menu for more FPS
2) Wait for Vertical Sync
Vertical Sync should be disabled. Simple as that. It adds input lag in CSGO, and that is something we never want in competitive matchmaking. If you have a higher RTX card, then sure you can enable it, but even I have an RTX 2080 ti, and I have disabled it because it caused issues. It should be disabled in both In-game settings and Nvidia or AMD graphic options. Disable it entirely and see the difference in FPS.
I got 90 FPS on CSGO with such a card, and I got 300+ instantly after disabling it. That’s HUGE!
How to Wait for Vertical Sync Fixes The Problem
- Hugely increase FPS
- Fixes stuttering on some machines
- Enabling it might not help with much
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Advanced Video Settings>Vertical Sync. Select disabled, and you are good to go.
1) Resolution
Resolution is the main culprit of having low FPS in video games. The higher it is, the lower FPS will be. High resolutions stress out your graphic card, which may cause heat issues. To avoid that, we must always play on optimized resolutions that don't just rev up our graphic card fans all the time. Playing on 4k is like a Jet Plane going off right on your desk.
Lower resolutions have fewer problems and may not be ideal for some gamers as they enjoy playing better graphics. But in CSGO, almost all pro players play on 720p Resolution, even with their best gaming PCs.
How Resolution Fixes The Problem
- Put less stress on Graphic Card when lowered
- It makes the model bigger in CSGO, thus easier to spot
- Massively increase FPS in-game with one change in settings
How To Apply Settings
- After launching the game, click on the gear icon to go into CSGO settings
- From there, click on Video Settings>Resolution. For best results, play on the 4:3 aspect ratio and 1024X768 Resolution. For 16:9 Ratio, play on 1920X1080.
