[Top 10] Diablo 3 Best Armor Sets for Wizard

Diablo 3 Best wizard Armor Sets
Wizard practicing control over the Arcane

The wizard boasts incredible range, crowd control, and area damage which makes it incredibly popular as a build for both new and experienced players.  The idea of dealing damage while remaining way away from the action was inviting enough to make this my first class in the game.  With all of that being said, at higher levels, your gear is truly what will make or break you and like the other classes, the wizard’s armor options are nearly endless.  Once again, I will be saving you the footwork of deciding which armor sets to be on the lookout for as you max out your mage.  Below are my top 10 armor sets for level 70 wizards and beyond.

10. Captain Crimson’s Trimmings (Good for Crafting and New Players)

I typically craft a Captain Crimson’s Trimmings on my new wizard builds for the sake of cooldown and cost reduction in addition to life per second. This is advantageous for new players who may not have enough paragon points to decrease costs and cooldowns.  The life per second is always nice as it will help soak up increased damage in the Torment levels.

9.  Born’s Command    (Good for new players in need of XP)

Similar to Captain Crimson’s, this set is designed for use by newer players who’s stats are not as developed and are looking to gain XP fast.  This set has a cooldown reduction of 10%, a life increase of 15%, and grants a 20% bonus experience.  Additionally, this set is relatively small, requiring only 3 pieces, which makes it ideal to pair with other sets and the Ring of Royal Grandeur.

8.  Cain’s Destiny (Good for Farming and Gaining XP)

This set, when crafted by the Blacksmith does 2 things very well for only being a 3 piece set.  1. 25% chance to drop an additional Greater Rift Keystone.  This is highly beneficial for farming legendaries and set pieces that are not craftable.  2.  Bonus Experience.  This set grants 50% increased Bonus Experience.  Okay, it does 3 things well as it is easily combinable with other sets to make viable farming builds in the early end game.  I ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS run this set when I am farming early into a new character.

7.  Aughild’s Authority(Great addition to RGK builds)

Aughild’s is a “go-to” of mine when I need to boost damage to Elites and bosses.  The three-piece bonus for this set adds 15% damage to Elites and reduces damage from Elites by the same amount.  Once again, being a 3 piece set makes Aughild’s ideal to combine with another set and the Ring of Royal Grandeur.

6. Delsere’s Magnum Opus (Great for Crowd-control builds)

The first Wizard only set in the list is Delsere’s Magnum Opus, which focuses on the use of Slow Time to control enemies and then deal multiplied damage to those affected enemies.  This set is further enhanced by the Legendary Gem, Bane of the Trapped.  Casting Explosive Blast, Wave of Force, Arcane Orb, Energy Twister, Magic Missile, Spectral Blade, or Shock Pulse reduces the remaining cooldown of Slow Time by 3 seconds.  Additionally, Wizard takes 60% less damage while a slow time sphere is active and enemies affected by slow time spheres receive 8500% more damage from Arcane Orb, Energy Twister, Explosive Blast, Wave of Force, Magic Missile, Spectral Blade, and Shock Pulse for up to 5 seconds after exiting the sphere.

5.  Tal Rasha’s Elements (Great for Speed Farming)

This set is one of my favorites for the wizard because it causes elemental meteors to rain from the sky as frequently as every 8 seconds.  The coolness of this intensifies as the meteors change with the elements of the attacks you cast because every elemental attack generates a meteor. Attacks also increase total damage output by 2,000% which can stack per element (up to 4 times) and lasts 8 seconds. Furthermore, resistances are increased by 8 seconds per element that you attack with.

4.  Firebird’s Finery (Great for Trash Clearing)

This set also incorporates a really cool Meteor effect.  This time, when you die, instead be healed by a falling meteor.  More importantly,  all fire attacks cause enemies to take 1000% damage as fire per second which can stack up to three times from different fire-based attacks.  Enemies that are under this effect from three different attacks ignite and receive 3000% damage per second until they die.  For every ignited enemy, this set grants a 200% damage increase and receives a 3% reduced damage.

3.  Typhon’s Veil (Great for Hydra Based Builds)

The Typhon’s Veil is excellent when combined with The Serpent Sparker wand which allows for an extra Hydra in this Hydra based set.  The set adds 2 heads to multi-headed Hydras and increases the duration of the summon.  Damage taken is reduced by 8% and Hydra damage dealt is increased by 1300% per head.

2.  Vyr’s Amazing Arcana (Best Armor Set)

This set is 50% of the top tier Archon Build for Wizards.  Vyr’s stat buffs are based on Archon form which gains the effects of all of the runes for the skill.  Archon kill stacks raise Attack Speed, Armor, and Resistances by 1% per stack in addition to reducing damage taken by 0.15% each, and their damage bonus increases to 100% per stack.  These Archon form buffs would not be complete without the next item on the list, Chantodo’s Resolve.

1.  Chantodo’s Resolve (Best Set)

While not technically an armor set, I cannot leave out Chantodo’s Resolve because it is incredible when paired with the already awesome buffs from the Vyr’s set.  In Archon form, you expel Wave of Destruction which deals 4000% damage and reaches out 30 yards.  Even more impressive is that while not in Archon form, every attack stacks the 4000% damage on your next Wave of Destruction when you return to Archon form.  This combination makes the Chantodo’s Vyr’s build truly the best option for Wizards in Season 21.
