[Top 10] Elden Ring Best Longswords Revealed (Ranked Worst To Best)

[Top 10] Elden Ring Best Longswords Revealed (Ranked Worst To Best)
Longswords are the staple of any RPG game

Since the good old days of Demons Souls, FromSoftware has been adding more and more unique weapon types, yet we can never truly forget the classics. Especially, because the Longsword (or Straight Swords) archetype is perhaps one of the strongest weapon choices. In the days of Dark Souls 3, a normal Straight Sword was the meta to go around with. You could spam the R1 and most of the time, get away with it.

Longswords have been a staple in many RPGs and Elden Ring is no exception. This list goes over my personal opinion on the top 10 best longswords in Elden Ring. Feel free to argue regarding them.

10. Longsword

Longsword

The simplistic weapons are sometimes the most appealing

Longsword is the most basic of basic weapons in Elden Ring. You can’t really go wrong with the classics, after all. Being a normal weapon means you can infuse it with most Ashes of War which is great because the game has them in mass quantity. You can also start with this item if you play as the Vagabond. Now, the key with this weapon is to never use it on its own. You always want to either keep it infused or use an item that allows it to gain elemental damage.

Longsword is great because it’s simplistic. When all else fails, the ol’ reliable always remains. It can be devastating with the right build, albeit needing a bit of investment and player skill. Another power move is to use it with an INT build. It has really good elemental scaling so you can capitalize off of that especially because you don’t get a good INT longsword early on (Don’t worry, we’ll get to those)

Longsword Stats:

  • STR - 10 (D)
  • DEX - 10 (D)

What Longsword excels in:

  • Being an all-rounded balanced weapon
  • Good elemental scaling
  • Very decent in PvP

9. Lordsworn’s Straight Sword

Become one of Godrick’s soldiers

Lordsworn’s Straight Sword is the Longsword but better…kind of. It depends on what angle you’re going with the weapon, really. In terms of elemental prowess, the Longsword beats it. However, raw physical damage? Lordsworn’s Straight Sword any day, any time. With a higher AR, higher critical damage potential, and most importantly, a bigger range, the Lordsworn’s Straight Sword is a very good early-game weapon.

Where this weapon truly shines, however, is with the usage of Ashes of War. Unlike the Longsword where it’s probably better to have an elemental Ash of War, with the Lordsworn’s Straight Sword you want to lean on the more physical ones.

Lordsworn’s Straight Sword Stats:

  • STR - 10 (D)
  • DEX - 10 (D)

What Lordsworn’s Straight Sword excels in:

  • Better AR than the Longsword
  • Bigger Range
  • Higher critical damage

8. Noble’s Slender Sword

Noble’s Slender Sword

A hell to obtain

I love this weapon for how cool it looks visually, but god is it an absolute pain to grind. However, it’s a good investment if you can get it early on. In terms of Longswords, it has one of the highest ranges of those weapons, making it very good to catch other players off guard. It also has a nice possibility of leaning into Keen scaling making it very good.

What’s important about this weapon is that it scales more off of Dexterity than Strength unlike most Longswords out there. This is why I mentioned Keen scaling because,, with that, you can lean even more into the Dexterity scaling. This weapon’s true potential, however, shines with powerstancing it with another Longsword. If you’re going to use one, I highly recommend that you get another Longsword and start powerstancing.

Noble’s Slender Sword Stats:

  • STR - 8 (E)
  • DEX - 11 (D)

What Noble’s Slender Sword excels in:

  • Good DEX scaling
  • Good Keen scaling
  • Higher range than most weapons

7. Lazuli Glintstone Sword

Lazuli Glintstone Sword

One of the best magic weapons

What I truly like about the Lazuli Glintstone Sword apart from its strikingly beautiful design, is the fact that it’s an INT Longsword. INT weapons are generally very rare in this game, with most of them focusing more on FAI. However, this weapon stands as a really good mid-game Longsword to obtain.

Being an INT weapon, obviously, the main scaling is INT, alongside STR making it optimal for anyone looking to invest in both of those stats. Next, there’s the Ash of War that lets you throw Glintstone Pebbles at the enemy which is great because it lets you skip a spell slot for free. I highly recommend it for anyone running an INT build because it’s just that nice of a weapon.

Lazuli Glintstone Sword Stats:

  • STR - 8 (D)
  • DEX - 9 (E)
  • INT - 13 (D)

What Lazuli Glintstone Sword excels in:

  • INT weapon
  • Glintstone Pebble as Ash of War
  • Nice AR

6. Rotten Crystal Sword

Rotten Crystal Sword

A beautiful weapon

While I absolutely adore the Lazuli Glintstone Sword, ultimately, I think I prefer the Rotten Crystal Sword more. In a way, it reminds me of Artorias’s Cursed Sword Variant in Dark Souls 1. Obtaining it is a bit of a pain because it’s situated right at the endgame optional content, but don’t let that deter you. This weapon is a free Scarlet Rot build-up which is absolutely insane against most enemies including, yes, PvP.

Being a Longsword, it’s already a very fast and agile weapon, add Scarlet Rot into that mix and you have a really good weapon. Having two of these for Powerstancing makes it a very viable weapon in PvP.

Rotten Crystal Sword Stats:

  • STR - 13 (D)
  • DEX - 10 (E)
  • INT - 15 (D)

What Rotten Crystal Sword excels in:

  • Scarlet Rot build-up is already very rare in the game
  • A devastatingly powerful combo when Powerstancing
  • Really good INT weapon

5. Golden Epitaph

Golden Epitaph

Striking design begets an awesome moveset

Despite looking like a massive hunk of metal, this weapon is also categorized as a Longsword or Straight Sword, if you will. Golden Epitaph is for the FAI players out there, one of the many FAI weapons that they can find. It’s an excellent weapon that deals a good amount of Holy Damage which is always useful against the Undead, dealing approx. 30% more damage to them.

This weapon is very good early to mid-game because you can use it against most enemies dealing a good amount of Holy damage. Plus, all those annoying skeleton dungeons? Just spam the Ash of War for an even more boost. And you wanna know something even better? The buff applies to allies as well!

Golden Epitaph Stats:

  • STR - 12 (D)
  • DEX - 10 (D)
  • FAI - 14 (D)

What Golden Epitaph excels in:

  • FAI Scaling is very nice
  • Holy Damage to Undead
  • Ash of War applies to allies as well

How to get Golden Epitaph:

4. Coded Sword

Coded Sword

A weapon formed out of nothing

Man, if there’s a list of weapons with the best visual design, Coded Sword would be among the top 10 in that list as well. Coded Sword is unique in the aspect that it’s only FAI scaling and not any other, making it excellent for pure FAI players. What makes this even better is the fact that it can bypass some of the Damage Reduction through shields, making it excellent for those who love turtling behind shields.

Now, let’s talk about why this weapon is ACTUALLY good. The Ash of War is beautiful. Insanely overpowered. It comes off super fast, you can factor it into any combo to take enemies off guard and well it just devastates the unsuspecting enemy in PvP.

Coded Sword Stats:

  • FAI - 20 (B)

What Coded Sword excels in:

  • Enemy of Shields
  • Pure FAI Scaling
  • Excellent Ash of War

3. Sword of St. Trina

Sword of St. Trina

One of the rare means of spreading Sleep

There aren’t a lot of weapons in Elden Ring that does Sleep build-up to enemies, but the Sword of St. Trina is one of them. Sleep is very good. Very, very good. Did you know you can use Sleep on the Godskin Duo to basically make them a joke? Did you know you can use Sleep in PvP to reduce the enemy into a mess of nothingness, so you can buff around?

The Sword of St. Trina is an INT weapon that benefits from it the most. It’s not the best INT weapon in terms of damage, for sure, but the Sleep effect is really rare and incredibly useful. For anyone, who wants to make their enemies slumber as they devastate them with a charged attack or a backstab, then the Sword of St. Trina is their ticket.

Sword of St. Trina Stats:

  • STR - 10 (D)
  • DEX - 12 (D)
  • INT - 14 (E)

What Sword of St. Trina excels in:

  • Sleep build-up is insane
  • Good INT weapon
  • Respectable AR

2. Regalia of Eochaid

Regalia of Eochaid

Remember the Bell-Bearing Hunter? You can be him now

One of the most annoying bosses in Elden Ring is the Bell-Bearing Hunter who goes around ruining your day forever, just for the fun of it. The Bell-Bearing Hunter has a unique weapon that he can use like a Jedi lightsaber to make your life miserable. However, you too can obtain this very cool weapon and start blasting everything with it.

The Regalia of Eochaid is a very unique Longsword, as it has really fun and interesting moveset. Not to mention, it scales off of Arcane which is already a very rare stat to scale in. For those of you who love using Dragon magic, this is a very nice weapon to have. I recommend forgoing DEX and going for ARC completely with this weapon.

Regalia of Eochaid Stats:

  • STR - 12 (E)
  • DEX - 18 (D)
  • ARC - 15 (D)

What Regalia of Eochaid excels in:

  • Good ARC weapon
  • Really awesome Ash of War
  • One of the coolest weapons in the game

How to get Regalia of Eochaid:

1. Sword of Night and Flame

Sword of Night and Flame

A legendary armament

Oh boy, the Sword of Night and Flame is incredibly powerful. It’s one of those weapons the Youtubers make a huge deal out of, and rightfully so. It’s a weapon that can decimate and annihilate most things within seconds. And that’s because it has a free Comet Azur in it. I can not stress how very useful that ability is. With the Sword of Night and Flame, you can invest both into INT and FAI and become a Paladin of amazing magic.

It’s a weapon that can shred enemies in seconds. In a crowd? Use the Fire Ash of War. Fighting a boss? Comet Azur. This weapon is really good if you’re able to invest properly in it. I highly recommend it to anyone who has both INT and FAI leveled up.

Sword of Night and Flame Stats:

  • STR - 12 (E)
  • DEX - 12 (E)
  • INT - 24 (D)
  • FAI - 24 (D)

What Sword of Night and Flame excels in:

  • One of the best weapons in the game
  • Two very excellent Ashes of War
  • Great scaling on all sides

How to get Sword of Night and Flame:

And these are the 10 Longswords in Elden Ring ranked worst to best. Hopefully, this guide helps you figure out which one you want to go for. Ultimately, Elden Ring has an immense amount of weapons. Find one that works best for you and lets you have fun!
