The only good thing that came from Dark Souls 2, was the powerstancing.

With so many classes and weapons in Elden Ring and the Samurai class being as amazing as it is, with a great starting amount of dex and stamina, this list is for all my fellow Samurai starters, as it has some of my personal favorite weapons. With the use of a few great katanas, each Samurai can bring honor to this honorless land. This top 10 list will consist mostly of katanas, with a few added exceptions, like a great seal that will help my katana-wielding players use draconic incantations, if you don't want to use a katana, don't worry as there are a few other weapons also on this list, but also remember that you can also respec into a mage with a Larval Tear at Rennala if you want to switch up your character later on.

10. Dragon Communion Seal

The Dragon Communion Seal will be turning you into the strongest dragon in the Lands Between.

As a samurai, you would expect katanas, daggers, and a lot of blood loss build-up, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. You can use dragon abilities, and with amazing ones like Rotten Breath, you will be poisoning bosses everywhere. The Dragon Communion Seal buffs draconic abilities, with only 10 faith and arcane needed you will be the greatest dragon in the Lands Between.

Why the Dragon Communion Seal is great for Samurai:

• Buffs 15% of Dragon Communion Incantations.
• Seal scaling increases arcane attacks like Rot and Blood loss.

How to get the Dragon Communion Seal:

• Go to Fringefolk hero’s cave.
• Find the Banished Knight at the top and the end of the tunnel.
• After he is defeated the seal will drop.

9. Moonveil

Will be throwing Destruction Discs at all your enemies.

The moonveil, is a very strong, fun weapon. With it requiring 23 intelligence, dex 18, and 12 strength, with this being one of the strongest katanas in the game you will be dealing massive damage and looking amazing.

Why the Moonveil is great for Samurai:

• Amazing weapon art.
• Great damage.
• Fast moveset.

How to get the Moonveil:

• Go to the Gael Tunnel in Caelid.
• Defeat the Magma Wyrm.
• Weapon drops right after.

8. Serpentbone Blade

The Serpentbone Blade will be slicing through all your enemies.

The Serpentbone Blade is a weapon with the requirements of  11 strength and 22 dex you will be using this weapon earlier than you think. The weapon has a great moveset with the added bonus of poison build-up.

Why the Serpentbone Blade is great for Samurai:

• Unique R2 move.
• Causes poison build-up.
• Works great with the moonveil and other katanas.

How to get the Serpentbone Blade:

• Go to Volcano Manor.
• Do Tanith’s quest.
• After the second assassination, the weapon will be given to you.

7. Sword Of Night And Flame

One of my personal favorite swords.

The sword of Night and Flame, the weapon that got most players through the game at day one, till it got patched rest in peace O great one. The weapon requires 12 strength and 12 dex with 24 intelligence and 24 faith. The sword is still one of the best swords in the game in my opinion, and if you’re a samurai (like I was) this weapon is worth checking out.

Why The Sword of Night and Flame is great for Samurai:

• Great damage from the weapon art.
• The most Anime weapon in the game.
• Amazing moveset, and if you add a katana in the other hand you can do bleed damage with the added ranged damage from its weapon art.

Where to get the Sword of Night and Flame:

• Go to Caria Manor.
• From the Manor lower level Grace go to the walkway.
• Go straight across the first one, turn left, and then right.
• From the third walkway, you will see a roof you can jump to.
• Jump down and head towards the hole in the roof.
• Go down the ladder and inside a chest, you will find this legendary weapon.

6. Eleanora’s Poleblade

Be the true Darth Maul.

What’s better than a sword, yes a double-bladed sword. Eleanora’s Poleblade is one of the best-looking weapons in the game with its great damage and moveset you will be obliterating bosses everywhere. With stat requirements of 12 strength, 19 arcane, and 21 dex you can swing your double-sided blade, with the bonus of the weapon's blood loss buildup and fire damage.

Why Eleanora’s Poleblade is great for Samurai:

• Causes blood loss build-up.
• One of the best movesets.

How to get Eleanora’s Poleblade: 

• Go to the Second Church of Marika.
• An invader will spawn called Eleanora.
• Defeat her and she will drop the weapon.
• Alternatively, you can do Yura's quest for the same outcome.

5. Uchigatana 

The best starting weapon.

The Uchigatana, the Samurai’s first weapon, and if you so wish, the last. With an amazing moveset and high damage, with the bonus of blood loss, you can dual wield two of these bad boys all the way till the end of the game, and if you’re feeling cheeky add poison to one of the katanas and bloodhound step as the main ash of war, you will be sliding your way through and past enemies easily.

• Why the Uchigatana is great for Samurai:
• Starting weapon so no need to find a new one.
• Scales with dex and strength, the samurai’s highest attribute.
• Has blood loss build up.
• Can powerstance with other katanas.

How to get the Uchigatana:

• Starting weapon.
• Can be found in Deathtouch Catacombs.
• After turning down the lever, a door will unlock into a previous hallway, the weapon is on a dead body.

4. Rivers Of Blood

An amazing weapon, with an amazing weapon art.

The Rivers of Blood, a beautiful weapon with amazing damage, blood loss, and a great moveset. What else would you want as a Jin Sakai impersonator? With only 12 strength 18 dex and 20 arcane needed, this weapon is worth your time.

Why the Rivers of Blood is great for a Samurai:

• Has blood loss build up.
• Amazing weapon art that can stun bosses.
• Pairs well with the Serpentbone Blade.

How to get the Rivers of Blood:

• At the Mountaintop of the Giants, go to the Church of repose.
• Kill the invader Okina who is wielding the katana.
• After defeating him the weapon will drop.

3. Eclipse Shotel

This isn't your typical curved sword.

The Eclipse Shotel is a curved sword that has amazing damage and a fast moveset. If you want to be the holiest of Samurai, use this weapon as it needs 10 strength, 25 dex, and 30 faith.

Why the Eclipse Shotel is great for Samurai:

• Amazing weapon art.
• Does damage through blocks.

How to get the Eclipse Shotel:

• Go to Castle Sol.
• The weapon is at the Altar of the church.

2. Blasphemous Blade

This sword is great for those who play togethaa.

The Blasphemous Blade is a weapon that needs 22 strength, 15 dex, and 21 faith. The weapon will be one of your favorites, as it looks amazing, has a great weapon art, and does amazing damage. Alternatively, you can die to Rykard, again and again, and join him to devour the very god Togetharr!

Why the Blasphemous Blade is great for Samurai:

• Does fire damage with great physical damage.
• Amazing weapon art.
• Can deal good damage from close-up and at range.
• Weapon art heals 10% of max HP and 150 HP per hit.
• Weapon heals 4% of max HP and 40 HP per enemy death.

How to get the Blasphemous Blade:

• Beat Rykard, the Lord of Togetharr.
• Take his Remembrance to Enia at the roundtable.
• Trade the Remembrance for his weapon.

1. Hand of Malenia

Malenia is nothing if you, well that's a lie, Malenia won't ever be a cakewalk.

The hand of Malenia is a katana that you will need to grind for as it requires 48 dex and 16 strength. As Malenia is one of the hardest bosses in any game you will need to "git gud" to get this weapon. Malenia, the Blade of Miquella, after breaking your TV, having kids, and the release of GTA 6, you will finally beat her and have that amazing weapon.

Why the Hand of Malenia is great for Samurai:

• It is a dex weapon with C scaling.
• Has blood loss build up.
• Waterfowl dance is an amazing skill (except if you’re on the receiving end.)
• Great for PVP.
• Great when paired with another Katana like the Rivers of Blood or Serpentbone Blade.

How to get the Hand of Malenia:

• Defeat Malenia, Blade of Miquella, Blade of, Blade of Miq, Blade of Miquella. ( prepare to hear that name more than you’d like.)
• Trade the Remembrance of the Rot Goddess with Enia at the roundtable.
