[Top 10] FF14 Best Potions And How To Get Them
Final Fantasy XIV has several potions and medicines available within the game. Potions for healing, negating effects, and increasing stats and all available to you. Many of these are under-appreciated and cause missed opportunities for players. To help new and experienced players alike, a list of the best potions in the game and how to get them is here!
10. Fantasia
Fantasias have made it to tenth on my top ten list. It’s a single-use potion that allows you to change your character’s appearance in ways the Esthetician can’t. The lore behind this potion states, “Legend states that any who drink this mysterious liquid before lying down for the evening will awaken a new man (or woman).”
Potion Details:
- Drink the potion and take off all of your gear.
- Log out.
- When logging back in, use the option to change your character’s appearance.
What makes Fantasia’s so awesome:
- You can change your character’s appearance.
- You can change your character’s race.
- You can change your character’s gender.
How do I obtain a Fantasia? You can buy these from the mog station under optional items for $10 USD for one, $28 USD for 3, or $45 USD for 5!
9. Echo Drops
Echo Drops have made it to ninth on my top ten list. It’s a single-use potion that negates the effect of silence! The lore behind this potion states, “This alchemically crafted restorative instantly cures most instances of silence.”
Potion Details:
- Single-use.
- Clears most instances of silence.
What makes Echo Drops so awesome:
- These clear the silence debuff off of you!
How do I obtain an Echo Drops? You can buy these from several vendors for 99 Gil each or see if there are any for cheaper on the Market Board. The most common vendors being the apothecaries in the starting cities. You can also craft these yourself once you are a level 22 Alchemist. The required materials being: two water shards, one lightning shard, one rock salt, one lavender, and one marjoram. Crafting will yield three for each time crafted.
8. Cordial
Cordials have made it to eighth on my top ten list. They are a gatherer’s best friend. These nifty single-use potions are something you should always keep a stack of if you plan to get into the high end or bulk gathering. The lore behind this potion states, “A sweet, fermented concoction that instantly restores 100 GP (350 if the cordial is of high quality).”
Potion Details:
- The recast timer is 4 minutes.
- Average quality, or NQ, cordials return 100GP.
- HQ cordials return 300GP.
What makes cordials so awesome:
- Return your GP once per item
- Can use the next potion every 4 minutes
- HQ versions have the same recast timer but return x3 the amount of GP.
How do I obtain cordials? The best places to get NQ cordials are by either spending 300 grand company seals with your respective Grand Company or by spending 4 Bicolor Gemstones with any of the gemstone vendors in The First. You can get either NQ or HQ cordials from the Market Board for an inflated price. You can also craft NQ or HQ cordials once you are a level 50 alchemist. The materials required being: seven water crystals, five lightning crystals, one filtered water, one rosemary, one trillium, one aloe, and one apricot. Each time crafted will yield three cordials.
7. Super Potions
Super Potions have made it to seventh on my top ten list. These are the second-best healing potions to have on hand. These are amazing at higher and lower levels both, and they are relatively easy to get a large stack of. The lore behind this potion states, “This concentrated concoction instantly restores a significant amount of HP.”
Potion Details:
- Single-use potion
- Recast timer 1 minute and 15 seconds
- Restores health
What makes Super Potions so awesome:
- They restore health instantly, even in combat.
- Restores up to 12% of HP (4800 points max)
- Short recast compared to other potions.
How do I obtain Super Potions? These can be found in black chests within the Palace of the Dead, the market board, or be crafted by a level 70 alchemist. The required materials being: six water crystals, five lightning crystals, one crescent spring water, alyssum, one nagxian cudweed, and one kudzu root. Yields three, each time crafted.
6. Tinkers Calm
Tinkers Calm has made it to sixth on my top ten list. This is a potion that may not be as commonly used but is a handy potion for extreme level crafters. Tinkers Calm is a single-use potion that boosts your desynthesis skill. The lore behind this potion states, “A tonic commonly used by Disciples of the Hand to increase focus, allowing for enhanced results when deconstructing complex creations.”
Potion Details:
- Recast timer of 5 minutes
- Desynthesis Skill Gain
What makes Tinkers Calm so awesome:
- Increases desynthesis skill gain by +30 (+40 for HQ)
How do I obtain Tinkers Calm? These can only be bought off of the market board or crafted by a level 50 alchemist that has unlocked the second master recipe book. The materials for this being: 2 water clusters, two lightning clusters, two virgin basilisk eggs, two rosemary, and one allagan catalyst. Yields 3 for each time crafted.
5. Eurekan Potion
The Eurekan Potion has made it to fifth on my top ten list. This potion restores health while you are in the land of Eureka. This is a beneficial thing as enemies here can quickly kill you, and cause you to lose experience if you die while here. The lore behind this potion is: “This potent concoction gradually restores own HP.”
Potion details:
- Lasts 40 seconds.
- Only for use in Eureka.
What makes Eurekan Potion awesome:
- Gradually restores health in a place where death means loss of experience.
How do I obtain a Eurekan Potion? You can buy these from a vendor in each part of Eureka for 300 Gil each. These can not be purchased on the Market Board.
4. Hi-Cordial
Hi-Cordial has made it to fourth on my top ten list. Hi-Cordials are gatherer’s best friend. These are a must-have when possible for gathering relics, farming for white or yellow scripts, and bulk gathering. The lore behind this potion is: “A sweet, fermented concoction that instantly restores 400 GP.”
Potion details:
- Recast timer of three minutes
- Restores GP
What makes Hi-Cordial so awesome:
- It restores 400 GP instantly
How do I obtain a Hi-Cordial? These can be obtained as rewards from some gathering class quests, by trading a steel sky pirate spoil to a spoils collector in any of the housing districts, or by trading twenty yellow scripts to any script exchanges. These can not be bought on the Market Board.
3. Grade 3 Tinctures
Grade 3 Tinctures have made it third on my top ten list. Raiders, this one is for you! There are multiple types of these fantastic potions that help boost stats to help you get that clear. The lore behind these potions is, “This diluted brew temporarily increases 'blank stat' for twice the duration of similar potions.”
About this potion:
- There are five different kinds.
- Lasts 30 seconds
- Recast time of 5 minutes
- Normal ones increase a primary stat by 8%, and HQ ones increase by 10%
What makes Grade 3 Tinctures so awesome:
- One for each primary stat in the game
- It increases your DPS significantly.
- Helps bring your purse up
- Can usually use three per raid
How can I get Grade 3 Tinctures? These can be bought on the Market Board or be crafted by level 80 alchemists who have Master Recipes Book 8 unlocked. You would need to have Craftsmanship of 2480 and Control of 2195. The materials required for these vary for each, but the basic ingredients are varying clusters, two dried Hi-Ether, 1 Chiraoglow Aethersand, and one varying item for each type.
2. Cunning Craftsman's Syrup
Cunning Craftsman’s Syrup has made it to number two on my top ten list. Crafters, this one is your bread and butter at end game. This item boosts the stat often most needed for crafters to craft end game items and gear. The lore behind this potion is, “This thick medicinal concoction is believed to improve crafting efficiency.”
About this potion:
- Recast timer 5 minutes
- Normal quality increases CP +5% and HQ by 6%
- Lasts 15 minutes
Why Cunning Craftsman’s Syrup is awesome:
- This boost in CP could be the difference between finishing an item or not.
- CP boost can also be the difference between making an HQ item or not.
- Gives the same CP boost as you would have on a Specialist.
How can I get Cunning Craftsman’s Syrup? You can either buy it on the market board or craft this item. You must be a level 80 alchemist and have unlocked Master Recipes 8. Materials required are: 7 water crystals, seven lightning crystals, one underground spring water, two cubus flesh, two light gerbera, two kudzu root.
1. Spiritbond Potion
Spiritbond Potion is the ace of potions and number one on my list! It helps raise the spiritbond between you and your gear, which allows you to extract materia. This potion is something that any player on any class in the game can benefit from. The in-game lore for this potion simply says, “This concoction enhances the rate at which your equipment gains spiritbond.”
About this potion:
- Single-Use
- Lasts 180 minutes (3 hours)
- Increases Spiritbond by 3%
Why Spiritbond Potion is awesome:
- Increases the rate at which your spiritbond goes up.
- When spiritbond is maxed out, you can retrieve materia for free and start over!
- Every class in the game requires melding and possibly overmelding to be BiS.
- How can I get Spiritbond Potion? You can only get this potion from your Grand Company. Your Grand Company rank needs to be at least Cheif Sergent for you to get this item, and it will cost you 1,500 Grand Company Seals for each potion.
