[Top 10] Pillars of Eternity 2 Best Weapons And How to Get Them

Shine bright like a... sword!

Live by the sword!

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is the successful sequel to the critically acclaimed Pillars of Eternity. It takes place five years after the original where our Watcher finds themselves once again at the mercy of the gods.

Like in the first game, there are endless amounts of different weapon types to choose from. Everyone has their own preferences for weapons but there are some of them that simply stand out from the rest for one reason or another. Now while it wasn’t easy to narrow down, here is a list of some of the most unique weapons in Pillars of Eternity 2 and how to get them

10. Pukestabber

Here we have a weapon with a less than flattering name, but fret not for names can be deceiving. When this dagger is paired with an enchantment it becomes a formidable weapon. Drink some liquor and you’ll be even more unstoppable! Provided you don’t puke on your enemy first.

The basic stats for Pukestabber:

  • Damage: 15-20
  • Accuracy: 5
  • Penetration: 10

Why this weapon is awesome:

  • If you use the mean drunk enchantment, you get a bunch of benefits to your character.
  • 20%+ Action speed
  • 20%+ Melee damage while under the effects of alcohol.
  • - 10% damage taken from melee attacks while under the effects of alcohol.
  • If you use the Epic Hangover:
  • 33 percent chance for Kith or Wilder enemies to vomit for up to 3 seconds.
  • Hangovers won’t cause vomiting and nor will bad food sicken you.

Where to get it: Koro River Delta, Island west to Fort Deadlight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj3N-2_QeqQ

9. Rust’s Poignard

A stiletto which, despite its name, is impeccably clean. It's so clean you can practically see the glistening from a mile away. As with all weapons, if you add some enchantments, Rust’s Poignard is sure to shine and metaphorically blind some enemies.

The basic stats for Rust’s Poignard:

  • Damage: 13-19
  • Penetration: 13

Why this weapon is awesome:

If you use the Unseen Killer enchantment, it will grant Unseen killer, which is self explanatory. Temporary, of course.

Where to get it: Delver's Row which is carried by the unfortunately named Rust. As you can imagine, you acquire it by killing him. Talking it out simply isn’t going to work this time… or really at all. Have you seen the types of characters that hang out at Delver’s Row? It’s a blackmarket for maker’s sake so best to have some potions on hand.

8. Kitchen Stove

A blunderbuss (no you didn’t read that wrong and yes you can laugh at it) that is far more dangerous than the name implies. While this weapon is a reward for completing a quest, it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth getting. It will serve you well in battle-- provided you are the right class.

The basic stats for Kitchen Stove:

  • Damage: 4-8
  • Penetration: 8
  • Projectiles: 4

Why this weapon is awesome:

  • I mean besides the name, the awesome parts about this weapon have to do with the benefits of adding enchantments (as they often do so I would certainly suggest looking into that)!
  • One such enchantment is the Thunderous report enchantment. This ability creates a strong blast which is definitely sure to not only cause a lot of burn damage, but also knock or daze your enemy.

Where to get it: This is a simple weapon to get. You get it as a reward for completing the Cornett’s Call quest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpRzExWZUWA

7. Essence Interrupter

Despite the name of this hunting bow, it is not and nor will it ever be soulbound. However, don’t let this deter you from acquiring it. It has a decent amount of accuracy and, as the name hopefully suggests, interrupts your enemies from attacking you. Saves you some health potions that way!

The basic stats for Essence Interrupter:

  • Damage: 18-31
  • Penetration: 8
  • Range: 12m

Why this weapon is awesome:

  • All you have to do is purchase it. (A simple reason, yes but if you have the money to spend, why not?)
  • One possible enchantment you gain from using this weapon is Experimental Souls which makes creatures allies.

Where to get it: This weapon is extremely easy to get, but just because this is the case doesn’t mean it isn’t an extremely effective ranged weapon. In order to acquire this bow, go to the merchant Henric in Port Maje and buy it.

6. Grave Calling

Now don’t let the name of this sabre frighten you. It isn’t actually going to call out to the dead and cause them to attack. At least, not until you add an enchantment. Add one to this sabre and the dead will be ready to work just for you!

The basic stats for Grave Calling:

  • Damage: 22-32
  • Penetration: 11

Why this weapon is awesome:

  • This weapon is easily attainable by just purchasing it from a merchant.
  • With the calling enchantment/upgrade you can summon a grave imp. Probably one of the only times you’ll want to encounter something dead and animated!

Where to get it: You can acquire this sabre in two ways. The easiest way is to buy it from the merchant on the beach in Crookspur. However, if you feel up to some danger (and excitement) you can also steal it from the crate behind him… provided you have the skills to back it up.

5. Lord Darryn's Voulge

Ah Lord Darryn’s lyrical pollaxe. I say lyrical because a sea song accompanies this weapon in it’s description. Is it a good sea song? Probably not. Does it have anything to do with how the weapon performs? Nope, but of the many weapon descriptions it certainly stands out.  I’d recommend not singing the song in battle though. Just use the weapon. It can quite literally shock your enemies!

The basic stats for Lord Darryn’s Voulger:

  • Damage: 18-29
  • Penetration: 9

Why this weapon is awesome: The most interesting thing about this weapon is the fact that it deals shock damage towards your enemies. Also, the more you upgrade it The more powerful electric attacks you get such as:

  • Static charge
  • Static Thunder
  • Ball Lightning

Where to get it: Found at a shipwreck which is southwest from Neketaka. Guide to acquiring it can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17EAl1fVmFM

4. Frostseeker

Here we have the Frostseeker: A regal name for a lovely and top tier war bow. Now, aside from how beautiful it looks (I mean look at it!), this weapon can inflict freeze damage on your enemies. The former owner of this bow is probably not very happy that their gorgeous weapon is in the hands of some god’s plaything, but if you die, you’re fair game for looting. Am I right or am I right?

The basic stats for:

  • Damage: 4-8
  • Range: 12m
  • Penetration: 10
  • Projectiles: 3

Why this weapon is awesome: The biggest reason this weapon is awesome is because of the Garland’s Breath upgrade/enchantment. Garland’s breath uses the breath of an ice troll which can do the following to enemies:

  • Encase them in ice
  • Deal general freeze damage
  • Petrify them

Where to get it: Found at Maukotu's Canopy. You are able to loot this war bow off a deceased archer during a scripted interaction.

3. Chromoprismatic Quarterstaff

A quarterstaff is a must for everyone who wields magic. A grimoire in one hand and a staff in another is the best way to take down enemies-- especially the Chromoprismatic staff. Not only does it have a nifty name, but a nifty backstory as well! An animancer made this staff out of copper and prismatic adra in order to bind blights. How cool is that?

The basic stats for:

  • Damage: 29-38
  • Penetration: 11
  • Range: 1.8m

Why this weapon is awesome:

Okay, obviously the backstory is pretty darn awesome, but you seriously have to look at the enchantments/upgrades for this weapon.

  • Elemental Induction which gives you 15+ damage when you attack with different elements.
  • Enthralled Blights give 1+ on four different elemental power levels and 3+ damage on burn, freeze, shock, and corrode.

Where to get it: Can be looted below a statue of Nemnok the Devourer in the Drowned Barrows. You literally can’t miss the statue. It’s quite ugly and memorable. No offense to Nemnok the Devourer, of course.

2. The Eye of Wael

I’m sure the name Wael stands out to you PoE players, but don’t let this name turn you off of this scepter. While this weapon isn’t soulbound, it can give you the power to cast illusions on your enemies. Who doesn’t like confusing the heck outta the bad guys?! Hey, look at the cat. Psych! It's my staff!

The basic stats for:

  • Damage: 13-19
  • Penetration: 11
  • Range: 8m

Why this weapon is awesome:

There are a lot of enchantments available for this scepter so that alone makes it stand out. Some include:

  • Form Phantastic which casts an illusion spell when the caster is bloodied.
  • Lidless Graze which has a cast time of 0.7 seconds and causes an enemy to become petrified.
  • Shrouded Strike, a 10+ chance for affliction to get a crit score.
  • The Hundred Visions, a +2 on power levels.

Where to get it: You acquire this after completing the puzzle in the Hall of the Unseen. A guide on how to complete the puzzle here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZLdjiGmi7c . I prefer using a guide because puzzles are the devil. Almost literally.

1. Modwyr

Finally we have reached, what I believe, is to be the best weapon in Pillars of Eternity 2. If you are guessing that one of the biggest reasons this is in the number one spot is because it is a talking weapon, then you are correct. Not only does it talk, it is quite a dirty minded sword, which makes interactions with it even more enjoyable.

The basic stats for:

  • Damage: 15-22
  • Penetration: 7

Why this weapon is awesome:

All right, you know the top reason is that this is a talking weapon and you can get quite a few funny moments when engaging with this sword. It just makes for entertaining game play.

Where to get it: Found in the Old City Ruin’s hideout in the northeast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4GJSu4yHFo

Details: https://pillarsofeternity.fandom.com/wiki/Modwyr

And there you have it, party people! Here is my top ten list of weapons in Pillars of Eternity 2. Some may not be for you, but that's okay. There are plenty more to choose from!
