[Top 10] Raft Best Tools And Weapons (And How They Compare To Their Early-Game Versions)
Player about to chop down a tree.

In Raft, you can craft better tools and weapons as you progress in the game. Metal tools and weapons don’t require finding a blueprint before crafting them, but some titanium ones do. You will eventually find all the blueprints needed to upgrade to titanium tools and weapons as you progress through the story. Better tools have better durability, while the weapons have better durability and attack damage. In this article, we will be discussing the top 10 Raft tools and weapons and how they compare to their earlier versions.

10. Metal Fishing Rod

Player fishing for some yummy fish.

The metal fishing rod is a significant upgrade from the simple fishing rod. The metal fishing rod has better durability, and with it, you’ll have a better rate of catching big fish such as salmon and catfish. To obtain the metal fishing rod, players need to research and unlock the recipe in the research table.

Why it’s a Great Item Compared to its Early Version:

  • Durability is 30 uses instead of 10.
  • Has a much higher chance of catching big fish.

How To Get Metal Fishing Rod:

  • The recipe unlocks once scrap, bolt, and rope are researched at the research table.
  • Craft a metal fishing rod with 3 scrap, 1 bolt, and 8 rope.

9. Scrap Hook

Scrap hook mining scrap.

The scrap hook is a versatile tool that can be used for pulling in floating debris and mining the seabed. Players can craft the scrap hook using scrap metal, rope, and planks. The scrap hook is much faster than the plastic hook and has more than twice the durability.

Why it’s a Great Item Compared to its Early Version:

  • Durability is 100 uses instead of 40.
  • It mines much faster than the plastic hook.
  • The recipe is fairly simple to craft with easy-to-get material.

How To Get Scrap Hook:

  • Craft a scrap hook with 6 scrap, 2 rope, 4 plank, and 1 bolt.

8. Metal Arrow

The Screecher goes down after being shot with a metal arrow seven times.

The metal arrow is a stronger and more durable version of the simple arrow. It can take down bigger and tougher enemies with fewer shots. To craft the metal arrow, players need planks, metal ingots, and feathers. Arrows are the only reason I keep feathers in my storage. Otherwise, they go straight to the recycler.

Why it’s a Great Item Compared to its Early Version:

  • 15 attack damage instead of 10.
  • Same amount of attack damage as the machete.
  • A great use for all those feathers.

How To Get Metal Arrow:

  • The recipe unlocks once plank, metal ingot, and bolt are researched at the research table.
  • Craft a metal arrow with 3 plank, 1 metal ingot, and 6 feather.

7. Metal Axe

Player chopping down a palm tree.

The metal axe is a significant upgrade from the stone axe, allowing players to cut trees faster and more efficiently. To obtain the metal axe, players need to research and unlock it in the research table.

Why it’s a Great Item Compared to its Early Version:

  • It swings faster than the stone axe.
  • The recipe is fairly simple to craft with easy-to-get material.

How To Get Metal Axe:

6. Metal Spear

Player with their weapon out in case something shows up around the corner.

The metal spear is an upgrade from the wooden spear, allowing players to take down enemies, dealing more damage. To craft the metal spear, players need metal ingots and rope.

To slay a bear, it takes 10 hits with the metal spear, while it takes 20 hits with the wooden spear.

Why it’s a Great Item Compared to its Early Version:

  • 10 attack damage instead of 5.
  • Durability of 40 uses instead of 20.

The machete is a multi-purpose tool that can be used for chopping down trees, clearing paths through the jungle, and defending against enemies. It is an upgrade from the simple knife and can be crafted using metal ingots and rope.

To slay a bear, it only takes 7 hits with the machete, while the metal spear takes 10 hits and the wooden spear takes 20 hits.

Why it’s a Great Item Compared to its Early Version:

  • 15 attack damage, while the metal spear inflicts 10.
  • Durability of 40 uses, which is the same as the metal spear, but more than the wooden spear.

How To Get Machete:

  • Craft a machete with 3 scrap, 2 rope, 2 metal ingot, and 2 bolt.

4. Titanium Arrow

Player on Caravan Island with a bow and arrow.

The titanium arrow is an even stronger and more durable version of the metal arrow, capable of taking down the toughest enemies. It also has a better chance of being retrieved after being shot. To craft the titanium arrow, players need titanium ingots and feathers. The blueprint for the titanium arrow is found on the very last story island, Utopia. To obtain the titanium arrow recipe, players need to research and unlock it in the research table.

Because they’re fairly expensive, I recommend only using titanium arrows on easily targeted enemies that you don’t want to get too close to, like the bear or hyena. That way, you can ensure retrieval of the arrows once the enemy is killed. If you go for the screecher and miss, you may never find your arrow again.

It takes 5 hits with the titanium arrow to slay a bear, while the metal arrow takes 7 hits.

Why it’s a Great Item Compared to its Early Version:

  • 20 attack damage, while the metal arrow inflicts 15.
  • Same amount of attack damage as the titanium sword.
  • A great use for all those feathers.

How To Get Titanium Arrow:

  • The blueprint is found on Utopia.
  • The recipe unlocks once plank, titanium ingot, and feather are researched at the research table.
  • Craft a metal arrow with 3 plank, 1 titanium ingot, and 6 feather.

The titanium axe is an even more efficient version of the metal axe, allowing players to cut down trees faster, and it has high durability. The blueprint for the titanium axe is found on the very last story island, Utopia. To obtain the titanium axe recipe, players need to research and unlock it in the research table.

Its durability is double that of the metal axe. It can cut down 48 trees, while the metal axe can cut down 24.

Why it’s a Great Item Compared to its Early Version:

  • Durability is 240 uses instead of 120.
  • It swings faster than the metal axe.

How To Get Titanium Axe:

  • The blueprint is found on Utopia.
  • The recipe unlocks once plank, rope, bolt, and titanium ingot are researched at the research table.
  • Craft a titanium axe with 8 plank, 2 rope, 2 bolt, and 2 titanium  ingots.

The titanium hook is the last upgrade for the hook tool. It has more range and durability than the previous hooks. And it mines copper and metal faster than the scrap hook. The blueprint for the titanium hook is found on the very last story island, Utopia. To obtain the titanium scrap recipe, players need to research and unlock it in the research table.

Why it’s a Great Item Compared to its Early Version:

  • Durability is 200 uses instead of 100.
  • It mines copper and metal ore much faster than the scrap hook.
  • Can be thrown further than the scrap hook and plastic hook.

How To Get Titanium Hook:

  • The blueprint is found on Utopia.
  • The recipe unlocks once plank, rope, bolt, and titanium ingot are researched at the research table.
