Once you’ve got the hang of the raft, it’s time to start automating your raft. There's no need for the sail that takes you where the wind goes. With an engine, you'll finally be able to travel in any direction you want. But first, you need to obtain biofuel to power your engines.
5. Pineapple
Pineapple found on a tropical island.
Pineapple is very easy to farm, and it’s a very good source of raw food for biofuel. It’s a great resource to use early on in your biofuel-making journey.
Of all the kinds of resources to use for biofuel, pineapples are the fifth best because you only need five to start making biofuel.
Pineapples can be found on tropical islands, and can also be easily farmed using the medium crop plot. Five pineapples produce one biofuel, so if you can fit three medium crop plots on your raft, you can go pineapple farming for your biofuel resource.
How it works:
- Place honey in your biofuel refiner. You always need to mix honey with one other raw food item.
- Place 5 pineapples in your biofuel refiner. This will make 1 can of biofuel.
- After 3 minutes and 30 seconds, you will have your biofuel.
4. Beets and Potatoes
A beautiful layout for a fruits and veggies farm.
Beets and potatoes are so easy to farm. Once you’ve got your veggie farm going, you’ll have more beets and potatoes than you’ll ever need. So, why not use the excess for biofuel?
Even though it takes a higher quantity of resources to make biofuel, using beets and potatoes is much more worth it due to its potential for mass production. Beets and potatoes have a value of 10/200, so it takes 20 to make biofuel.
Beets and potatoes can’t be found in the wild. You can find them in barrels, loot boxes, vacated rafts, and abandoned huts. Then it’s your responsibility to farm them yourself.
How it works:
- As usual, make sure there’s honey in your biofuel refiner.
- Place 20 raw beets or potatoes in your biofuel refiner. This is equivalent to 1 can of biofuel.
- After 3 minutes and 30 seconds, you will have your biofuel.
3. Watermelon
Watermelon found on a tropical island.
The watermelon is an excellent source of raw food material for biofuel. If you noticed in-game that it takes two bites to finish a watermelon, well, guess what? You can use the watermelon two times to fill your biofuel refiner.
Both the watermelon and the pineapple have a value of 40/200, which is why it takes 5 pineapples to fill up a biofuel refiner.
But one watermelon can be used twice, so technically, its value is 80/200. You only need 2.5 watermelons to fill a biofuel refiner.
How it works:
- As usual, make sure there’s honey in your biofuel refiner.
- Place 2.5 watermelons in your biofuel refiner. This will make 1 can of biofuel.
- After 3 minutes and 30 seconds, you will have your biofuel.
2. Raw Catfish and Salmon
Player holding a raw salmon.
Raw catfish and salmon are the biggest fish you can catch with your fishing rod. Catfish can also be made into Catfish Deluxe, and salmon can be made into Salmon Salad. But these dishes are quite expensive to make, so if you aren't too late into the game at this point, I would just grill them or use them for biofuel.
They have a value of 100/200, so it only takes 2 of these to fill up your biofuel refiner.
How it works:
- As usual, make sure there’s honey in your biofuel refiner.
- Fill your biofuel refiner with 2 raw catfish or salmon. This is equivalent to 1 can of biofuel.
- After 3 minutes and 30 seconds, you will have your biofuel.
1. Shark, Warthog, Screecher and Bear Heads
A shark coming after player.
Animal heads are something you will build up a collection of throughout the game. They may be exciting trophies in the beginning of the game, but the further you get in the game, the more you’ll find that they're only useful as a biofuel resource.
When a shark, warthog, screecher, or bear is killed, their heads become a drop. They each have a value of 200/200, so it only takes one head to produce one unit of biofuel.
How it works:
- As usual, make sure there’s honey in your biofuel refiner.
- 1 shark head should be placed in your biofuel refiner. This yields 1 can of biofuel.
- After 3 minutes and 30 seconds, you will have your biofuel.
