10. Chalet

When choosing a map for a 1v1 match, the first consideration would be the map size. Obviously, with a 1v1 match, you and your opponent would not want a huge map because that would just make it harder for the two of you to find each other and you’d just end up wasting a lot of time. And when it comes to maps that don't really have a big size, Chalet is one of the best. It does feature three stories like most Siege maps, but its area is not that wide.

It also has a lot of wide spaces in its interior which will make finding each other inside the mission building easier. With that said, even in a 1v1 match, cover or hiding spots still play an important role. Rainbow Six Siege is still a tactical game even in a 1v1 match, so the fundamentals in a normal match would still be important. And when it comes to that, Chalet’s interior offers a lot of cover and destructible walls that players can creatively use to outsmart their opponent.

Why Chalet is Great for 1vs1:

  • The map size, whether it’s the interior or the outside area, isn’t that big, so players having a 1v1 match won’t waste a lot of time trying to find each other
  • Both the outside and the interior of the mission building offers a lot of cover and destructibility that players can take advantage of when trying to outsmart their opponents
  • The interior of the mission building, while still offering a lot of cover, also has a lot of wide angles that makes it so that it’s easier for two players to see each other

As mentioned before, one of the first things that players think of when they’re deciding a map for a 1v1 is the map’s size. Obviously, they don’t really want to waste a lot of time trying to find each other. But even if the size of the map is big, 1v1s also has objective sites like normal games. So if the two players go by how most Siege matches go, then one could expect that the one on the defending side would be around the objective site. That’s important to note because Clubhouse is actually a pretty big map.

However, the interior of the mission building mostly has narrow angles or tight rooms, which in a way makes it not really a huge map. This map is a good map for a 1v1 because of those tight angles that an attacker has to take when pushing the objective spot. In a 1v1, when defending the objective spot, the defender may have the advantage at first glance, but in reality, there are also many cover that the attacking player can use when trying to engage the defender inside the objective spot.

Why Clubhouse is Great for 1vs1:

  • The map’s interior has a lot of tight angles which makes both defending and attacking quite challenging for either side, especially in a 1v1 match, which adds a lot of fun.
  • Even though the defending player may have the advantage at first glance, the attacking player can also take advantage of the many cover inside the building when approaching the objective spot
  • The objective spots inside the mission building has a lot of destructible walls that both players from each side can creatively take advantage of when trying to outsmart each other

 

8. House

House might be the most “casual” map in the game.  The devs deem it to be too imbalanced to be in ranked, but thankfully, it’s of course available for 1v1s. And that casual atmosphere of the map is actually what makes it a great map for 1v1s because let’s face it, most 1v1 matches are for fun, and House is easily one of the most fun maps to play in. The defending player can take advantage of its many spawn peeking spots at the start of the round as well as the spots where they can run out and kill the attacking player.

With that said, the attacking player can also take advantage of the many cover outside the mission building to avoid being spawn peeked. You just know that a map is good for a 1v1 when gunfights happening outside the mission building is also exciting. As for the interior, if the objective spot is on the highest floor, the defending player may have the advantage, but the attacking player can instead rappel from the outside and use the terraces to harass the defending player from the windows.

Why House is Great for 1vs1:

  • Engagements even at the very start of the round can be fun in this map because it has a lot of spawn peek spots that could make for some great gunfights outside of the mission building
  • When the objective spot is on the highest floor, the defending player can take advantage of choke points like the stairs as well as the many destructible walls for creating more lines of sight
  • The attacking player on the other hand can take advantage of the many windows of the map and its terraces to harass the defending player from the outside
 

7. Bank

Bank is another map in this list that is not exactly small. It may not be that wide, but it’s huge vertically. However, if the players are going by how most Siege matches are approached, meaning defending and attacking the objective spot, then the size of the map shouldn’t be that much of a problem. That’s because players could expect to meet each other around the objective spot, or they could also use the map’s size to ambush the other player from an unexpected place.

Certainly, the Bank map will allow players a lot of creativity when it comes to how to approach their 1v1 match. It’s actually one of the most balanced maps in this list because there won’t be a clear advantage for either side. If the objective spot is on the top floor, the defender might find it hard to watch out for all the open angles that the attacker could use, but if it’s on the lower floors, the attacking player will be the one that’ll have to watch out for so many angles, not just horizontally, but from above as well.

Why Bank is Great for 1vs1:

  • It’s one of the most balanced maps in this list while still providing a lot of fun. In this map, either side won’t really have a clear advantage over the other, it just depends on where the objective spot is.
  • If the objective spot is on the highest floor, the attacking player should take advantage of the many open angles it’ll have and harass and confuse the defending player
  • If the objective spot is on a lower floor, the defending player can take advantage of the map’s huge verticality to outmaneuver the attacking player or ambush them from unexpected angles
 

6. Hereford Base

Like the Bank map above, Hereford Base features a lot of verticality. It actually has four stories which makes it one of the largest maps in Siege, at least vertically. But that verticality can actually provide a lot of fun and creativity to the players that are having a 1v1 match. That’s because with its high verticality, players from each side will have a lot of ways to approach the match. As for the map’s size horizontally, it’s actually not that wide and is full of wide angles inside the mission building.

It also has a lot of destructible walls. The wide angles and the destructible walls inside the mission building can make for a lot of interesting gunfights and tactical ways to outsmart your opponent. Engagements outside the map can also be very fun because of all its long angles. As shown in the video above, if you and your Siege buddy are trying to improve your sniping skills, this map is one one of the best ways to practice with a 1v1 match using only marksman rifles.

Why Hereford Base is Great for 1vs1:

  • Its huge verticality offers players from both sides a lot of ways to creatively approach the match and outsmart their opponent while also not wasting a lot of time trying to find each other
  • The interior of the mission building has a lot of wide angles and destructible walls which could provide for a lot of interesting and tactical ways to frag an opponent
  • The exterior of the map has a lot of long angles which, as the video above shows, is perfect for a 1v1 match with sniper rifles only. This map is also great for spawn peek spot exchanges.

 

5. Lair

Lair is the newest map in Siege and it’s in this list mainly because of that reason. As mentioned before, 1v1 matches are generally just for fun. That’s of course if the players aren’t having a grudge match or something because they got pissed off at each other online. Regardless, since 1v1 matches aren’t generally considered as serious as ranked or competitive matches, it will be great for players to hold their 1v1s on the newest map in the game.

That’ll allow them to learn the ins and outs of the map faster, as well discover tricky angles for outsmarting their enemies. With that said though, even if the two players having a 1v1 already know the Lair map well. It’ll still be a great map for a 1v1 match because of how it’s structured. Its interior has a lot of wide angles but also has a lot of destructible walls which players can use to create more lines of sight or rotation holes which are important for ambushing or outmaneuvering your opponent both in a 1v1 match as well as a normal match.

Why Lair is Great for 1vs1:

  • Lair’s interior has a lot of wide angles but also offers a lot of cover and destructible surfaces that players from either side can use to outwit their opponents
  • The exterior of Lair is also excellent for gunfights because the many windows of the map can provide for interesting spawn peek exchanges as well as straight up engagements outside the mission building
  • If both players still haven’t learned the map’s ins and outs, then it’s perfect to hold their 1v1 match in it because that’ll allow them to familiarize themselves on the map faster

 

4. Kanal

Kanal is one of the smallest maps in the game. It may have two buildings, yes, but its interior is quite small, so most angles inside the mission building are tight. In a normal match, as well as a 1v1, tight angles can make for some very intense encounters, and high tension is what makes Siege a fun game. A lot even describe it as sweaty. If the objective spot is on the second floor Radar and Server, it can be disadvantageous to the defending player because they’ll have to watch out for a lot of angles.

So in this map, it’s best for the defending player to choose an objective spot on a lower floor. That way, they can use the map’s higher floors for ambushing the attacking player. The attacking player on the other hand can use the map having two buildings and a wide rooftop to penetrate the mission area with much less chance of getting ambushed, and from there, they can work their way to the objective spot while carefully checking the tight angles and rooms for an ambush.

Why Kanal is Great for 1vs1:

  • Despite it having two buildings being connected by a bridge, it’s one of the smallest maps in Siege because its interior is quite small and that makes for a very intense 1v1 match
  • If the players decide to have a straight up gunfight outside the mission building, they’ll have a wide arena outside, and they can even use the buildings’ rooftops for a fun gunfight
  • Despite the tight angles in its interior, the map still provides players on both sides with a lot of ways to outsmart their enemies through all the destructible surfaces in the mission building
 

3. Border

If what both the players want is a map where they’d be able to encounter each other the fastest, in this list, Border is probably the map that’ll provide that to them. It may not be the smallest map, but even in its reworked version, it’s not really easy to hide in Border. That’s why this map isn’t really good for roamers during a normal match, because they could easily get hunted. Don’t mistake what I said though for it being unbalanced, because in a 1v1 match, it won’t really favor any side.

Regardless of the objective spot, both the attacking and defending player will have their own advantages and disadvantages. If the objective spot is on the second floor Armory and Archive, the attacker can use the angles from the outside to harass the defending player, but the defending player will also have a lot of hiding spots and angles that they can take advantage of when it comes to countering the attacking player. Even the objective spots on the lower floor will also be quite balanced and that’s why Border ranks high in this list.

Why Border is Great for 1vs1:

  • For 1v1 matches, Border is one of the most balanced maps in the game because both players will have their advantages and disadvantages regardless of the objective spot in the round
  • It’s one of the smallest maps in Siege and it’s not easy to hide in it for prolonged periods of time so it promotes early engagements, and both players won’t waste a lot of time trying to find each other
  • The attacking player can take advantage of the angles from the outside to harass the defending player, while the defending player also has a lot of cover that they can use for countering the attacking player

 

2. Oregon

Oregon is probably the most popular map for 1v1s. It has everything that players would want when they’re deciding which map they’re going to hold their match in. It’s a map that won’t really favor any side, meaning it’s very balanced, and it's also not that big, so players won’t have to use a lot of time trying to find each other. It also has a lot of destructible walls, but not just walls, floors and hatches too, which they can use creatively for fragging their opponent from an unexpected angle.

Both the defending and attacking player can rework the map a lot to their advantage by making rotation holes and more lines of sight on its destructible parts. The mission building is full of tight angles that promotes intense gunfights because tight angles mean that usually, you’ll only have a small window of opportunity for fragging your opponent. Outside combat would be a lot of fun as well because the map has a lot of windows for spawn peeking and that could make for some very fun and high stakes long-range combat.

Why Oregon is Great for 1vs1:

  • The inside of the mission building has a lot of destructible surfaces that both players can use to their advantage because they can rework them with rotation holes or lines of sight
  • The Oregon map is perhaps the most balanced map in the game, even on this list, as regardless of the objective spot, neither player in the 1v1 match will have the clear advantage
  • The tight angles inside the mission building could make for some very intense encounters while the many spawn peek sites outside the map can make for some high intensity long-range combat
 

1. Coastline

Coastline is number one in this list because it has all the qualities that can make a very interesting 1v1 match. It might be one of the smallest, if not the smallest maps in Siege, so it promotes early engagements in a 1v1 match. The players will be able to spot each other easily, which will really up the intensity of the match. With that said, even though Coastline is quite small, it’s actually a balanced map, and that’s why it’s even in the competitive playlist. 1v1 matches in this map will surely be very compelling and fun.

If the players want to have a sniping match, they can easily have it on this map, and it’ll be a lot of fun. If the players want to have their 1v1 in a more normal way, it’ll also be great to have it in this map because the angles inside the mission building as well as all the rooms and destructible surfaces can make for a lot of tactical and creative ways for outsmarting and outmaneuvering your opponent. The only spot in this map where one side can have the advantage is on the rooftop where the attacking player will have the vantage point, but when it comes to that, all the defending player has to do is to bait them to come inside.

Why Coastline is Great for 1vs1:

  • It can easily be the smallest map in the whole game, and that means that players having a 1v1 match won’t waste any time when trying to find each other
  • The map design can make for a lot of fun and interesting 1v1 encounters like if the players want to do a sniper only battle, they can have a lot of fun with it because the map also has a lot of long angles and cover outside
  • Despite its small size, the map is surprisingly very balanced because regardless of where the objective spot is, neither side will have a distinct advantage, and that’s great for both 1v1s and normal matches
