10. Bloodborne

Play as the hunter in a quest to rid the world of nightmare creatures as you go through the game either ignoring the story or diving full into it. The Borne part of the Soulsborne genre, every action has consequences and every victory, even the small ones,  feels earned. Strategically use your gun to stun enemies and then rip them apart with your primary weapon. Even if guns aren't the main method of damage dealing they are no less important to mastering the game.

9. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Adam Jensen is a bionic weapon and leans hard into the bionic part. A cyberpunk story where you can choose to go in guns blazing or little more than a whisper on the wind, Deus Ex features solid gameplay and a fun entertaining story.

8. Fallout 4

Fallout 4 gameplay 

In Fallout 4 you can (theoretically) change any gun into whatever available gun you want with the game's robust crafting system. Travel the wasteland and kill feral ghouls, super mutants and any other wastelanders that want, or maybe don't want, to kill you. Using the Vat system gives you the ability to target different parts of the body to dismantle any foe that stands in your way.

7. Far cry 5

Far Cry 5 gameplay 

One of the few games in the Far Cry series set in an actual country, Far Cry 5 is set in the USA in the fictional Hope County of Montana. A Ubisoft game at its core, the game, in between the storyline, challenges you with random encounters, encampments, and towers that "unlock" more of the map. Along with the usual variety of guns the game offers now you can team up with several different NPCs to work together and take down the religious zealot that is Joseph Seed.

6. Final Fantasy VII Remake

Barrett has one of the most iconic weapons in video games with his gun arm. Use it without prejudice in your quest to dismantle Shinra with actions that lean closer to questionable than justified. Save the planet and use Barrett and his gun to destroy Shinra and whatever twisted experiments they throw at you.

5. Destiny 2

"That game came from the moon" at least that's how it felt when Destiny basically created the shared world shooter genre as we now know it. At the core Destiny 2 improves on the looters shooter mechanics that the Borderlands series pioneered and definitely makes the game revolve around its loot mechanic. In an epic space opera of dramatic twists and turns Destiny 2 ups the ante of the first and brings you into a creative and mysterious galaxy for you to explore.

4. Mass Effect 2

In Mass Effect one of the main mechanics is shooting alien races in a quest to defend the galaxy. Mass Effect makes you feel like a true super soldier as you upgrade yourself, your shooting, and even the tools you have access to in several different skill trees.

3. Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 gameplay 

Borderlands 3 is a gunRPG and the third installment doubles down on that by featuring one BILLION guns. Guns with legs, guns that shoot guns, guns that shoot other guns, you name it Borderlands 3 probably has it. A game that's all about having fun with your friends and shooting things Borderlands 3 delivers on what it set out to accomplish.

2. Outer Worlds

Outer Worlds is the shooter RPG follow up to Obsidian's popular and widely regarded Fallout: New Vegas. This game takes you to a solar system that sees each world controlled by a different mega corporation all of which are now vying for control of a newly colonized planet. That's where your character comes in to help decide who will and maybe more importantly won't have control of the planet.

1. Red Dead Redemption 2

In a game that channels the spirit of a Spaghetti Western you know the guns in it will be at the forefront of the action. A prequel to the wildly successful Red Dead Redemption, take control of Arthur Morgan and ride with the Dutch van der Linde gang. A game that at points leans heavily into simulation, sometimes to the detriment of fun, Red Dead Redemption 2 is enjoyable with some of the best storytelling in video games.
