The question of which monsters are the best is constantly up for debate.

Which monsters in Summoners War are better than all the rest?

Members of the community both in the game and on forums like the Summoners War Reddit spend countless hours discussing which monsters are best and why. The monsters a person favors often depends on their favorite things to do in the game and sometimes personal biases like which monsters they have or want. The question of who is best overall is hard to answer, but some monsters stand above the rest in general utility and excellence.

10. Shaina (Fire Chakram Dancer)

Many players were upset with her nerf, but Shaina is still an excellent monster with plenty of damage and utility.

Shaina is one of the most useful out of the “twins,” as the Boomerang Warriors and Chakram Dancers are called, despite her recent nerf. She is an Attack type monster with a single target attack, an AOE attack, and a passive.

Shaina’s passive coupled with her second skill is what makes her so useful. Every attack, she will decrease the enemy’s defense. Her passive also increases her and any Boomerang Warrior’s Accuracy by 25%. Her second skill is an AOE that stuns enemies for a turn with a 30% chance. Her single target hits twice and does more damage when the enemy’s HP is low.

  • Perfect for both Trial of Ascension Normal and Hard speed teams
  • Works well in dungeons, especially NB10, due to AOE DEF break and multihit
  • Attack lead in dungeons adds even more PvE utility
  • Pair with Galleon and a Boomerang Warrior for a beastly Guild War offense or defense

9. Charlotte (Wind Occult Girl)

Charlotte has made multiple top monster lists due to her versatility and wide range of uses.

Charlotte is the wind sister in the Occult Girl family and is an Attack-type monster. She has two area-of-effect attacks and one single target attack, all of which have excellent crowd control capabilities.

Her single target attack can put enemies asleep, and doing so gives her an extra turn. Her first AOE stuns and decreases attack power of all enemies, and her second AOE attacks three times and decreases the Attack Bar by 30% each time.

  • Excels in Trial of Ascension, farming Aiden Forest Hell, and GB10
  • AOE stun and attack bar reduction is great for crowd control anywhere
  • High damage output adds a damage dealing role to her CC
  • Good base stats and solid skill set makes rune requirements lower

Verad is another monster that frequently makes best monster lists, as he's extremely powerful and useful.

Verad is commonly known as the “King of ToA” due to his skill set, which is excellent for crowd control through freeze and ATB reduction. He is a Defense type monster that can do considerable damage in addition to his CC.

Like Charlotte, he has one single target attack as his first skill and two AOE attacks as his second and third skills, both of which can freeze the enemy. His second skill has a 60% chance to freeze and his third skill sets the Attack Bar to zero in addition to freezing. His skills scale off of the Defense stat.

  • Excellent for both ToA Normal and Hard; often regarded as the best ToA monster
  • Does very well in PvP when paired with defense buffs and breaks

Galleon’s first attack has a 75% chance to weaken Defense, while his second absorbs 30% of the enemy’s Attack Bar. His third skill is the key to his utility, with a 75% chance AOE Defense break on the enemy and a full-team Attack buff on his allies.

Perna has much more than just a self-revive passive, and her team heal can come in clutch at key moments.

Perna is an HP type monster with a unique passive that not only revives her at the moment of death but also heals her team by 10% every turn. This combination of passive effects make Perna unique even among Nat 5 monsters.

Perna’s two attacks are both single target attacks with high damage multipliers. Her first skill has an 18% chance to stun, while her second skill scales off of the enemy’s current HP percentage (not Max HP, as is sometimes thought).

  • Excellent nuker for Dragon’s Lair B10
  • Dungeons Attack lead can speed up elemental dungeon times
  • Shines in PvP, especially on defense using Violent runes to cycle her passive’s cooldown
  • Healing as well as self-revive in tight moments can be clutch for newer players

5. Giana (Dark Oracle)

Giana is thought of mostly as a PvP monster, but she has power and usefulness across the board because of her strip.

Giana has an excellent skill set that allows her to turn around some of the most difficult situations in the game. She is an Attack type monster with a single target attack, a bomb with Continuous Damage, and an AOE strip and potential stun.

Giana’s first attack hits three times and will increase her attack bar by 15% per hit if she lands a critical hit. Her second sets up a two turn bomb as well as continuous damage and gives her another turn instantly. If the enemy has immunity, never fear - her third is an AOE strip that will stun any monster it strips an effect from.

  • Great counter to Arena teams with Will runes as her third will strip and then stun
  • Excellent in certain ToA and HoH stages for CC on her third skill
  • General Attack leader skill boosts the power of her own bombs anywhere

Amarna is one of the rarer monsters out there, but his skill set is integral to the teams of those who have him.

Amarna is often regarded as a Nat 4 that should be a Nat 5 due to the power of his third skill. He’s a Support type monster with two single target attacks, plus a cleanse and heal that can also be a revive.

Once he’s awakened, Amarna’s first skill attacks twice with a 30% chance to reduce defense in addition to disturbing HP recovery. His second skill hits three times, each with a 50% chance to apply a brand. Finally, his all-important third skill heals and cleanses all living allies and revives all dead allies at the cost of 2 cooldown turns per revive.

Lushen is an obvious member of this list due to his versatile uses and his excellent skill set. He’s an Attack type monster with two AOE attacks and one single target attack. Lushen is another monster that many want as much as they want a Nat 5.

Lushen’s single target attack has a 70% chance to disturb HP recovery, while his second attack applies a random debuff to each enemy out of Stun, Glancing Hit, or Speed Decrease. His third hits three times and ignores defense, making it perfect for clearing waves of enemies or high-defense PvP opponents.

Feng Yan's passive makes him an incredibly powerful monster that anyone would be happy to get.

Feng Yan is widely regarded as one of the hardest monsters to defeat in PvP, both on offense and defense. He is a Defense type monster with one attack, a self cleanse and buff combo, and a passive. His passive is what makes him stand out above so many other monsters.

Feng Yan’s first skill hits three times and has a 30% chance to decrease Defense on each hit. His second skill removes all harmful effects on him as well as gives him HP recovery and counterattack, and gives his allies HP recovery. Isis has a unique skill set with rare debuffs, and is useful almost anywhere for her Oblivion.

Isis is one of the most unique monsters in the game due to her ability to apply an AOE Oblivion and Silence effect. She also has two single target attacks, both of which apply critical debuffs for neutralizing enemy threats.

Her first skill has a 50% chance to reduce the enemy’s attack, and her second skill has a 75% chance to strip all beneficial effects and put the enemy to sleep. Her third skill is her AOE, which applies both Oblivion and Silence to all enemies.
