On July 25th 2017, Author Christie Golden (New York Times best-selling author) released Battlefront II: Inferno Squad which takes place between Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. The book is a prequel to the upcoming video game, and gives fans a chance to get to know and understand the Imperial special forces before the game's release on November 17th, 2017. The novel focuses on the Inferno Squad, giving you an imperial point of view while they hunt down members of Captain Saw Gerrera's (Forest Whitaker) militia also known as Partisans, to avenge the destruction of the Death Star. There will also be an audiobook that will be read by the actor Janina Gavankar, who voices Iden Versio the captain of the inferno squad in Star Wars Battlefront II.
There is a lot of Star Wars news being revealed at the moment in preparation for the November release and EA have also recently released a new behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming campaign for Star Wars Battlefront II at Disney's D23 2017 expo. We got to look at some new characters that will be featuring in the new single-player campaign with some new gameplay and concept art. We also get a more in depth look at the Inferno Squad members like Admiral Versio (Iden’s father) and Del and Hask who are close team-mates of Iden’s.
The campaign will feature content from all three Star Wars eras (original trilogy, prequels, and the Force Awakens) along with lots of the new content coming to the game like FN-2187 (John Boyega) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). According to the Daily Star, while on stage Gavankar also announced that the game contains 3 times more content than the original. It takes place shortly after the destruction of the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi and will follow the story of Iden (played by Janina Gavankar) an elite Stormtrooper and commander of an Imperial special forces group called the Inferno Squad which are sort of like a Galactic Black-ops.
