[Top 10] Attack on Titan Best Villains That Are Awesome (Ranked)

Eren Jeager
When Eren looked incredibly hot but in the most weirdest way possible

Attack on Titan is truly the anime version of Games of Thrones. Mainly because you get so many unique villains, it's challenging to pick out the best!

Anyway, here we have assembled the top 10 AoT villains that are awesome! You probably fell in love with them in only a matter of episodes and hated their guts till the end. How poetic.

Let's have a look at them.

10. Rodd Reis

Most of the Reiss ancestors were deranged, and Rod was no exception.

In order for the Reiss family to become great, Rod merely wanted Historia to achieve the power of The Founding Titan.

He tried to convince Historia to go through with his scheme, but she refused and tossed away the Titan serum, which cracked and fell to the floor. However, instead of letting go, he found it better to lick off the serum from the floor. What even?

Although Rod Reiss said he loved his daughter, his actions didn't quite align with his words. And this is what makes him one of the most hateful characters on AoT.

9. The Smiling Titan

One of the most terrifying villains on AoT has to be the Smiling Titan.

Appearing in the very first episode, it gobbled up Eren's poor mother, who was stuck under the rubble of their home. Since this introduction, the Smiling Titan has haunted our protagonist for quite a long time.

As for some background, the Smiling Titan was actually Dina Yeager, aka Eren's stepmother. She makes a comeback in the episode "Scream," where she devours Hannes and tries to attack Eren and Mikasa as well.

However, Eren manages to turn the tables and avenge the death of his mother and Hannes while saving his childhood sweetheart.

Also, how can one not hate the Smiling Titan with such a creepy smile? It honestly gives us the creeps… Grrr.

8. Bertholdt Hoover

At first, Bertholdt appeared to be the major antagonist of Attack on Titan. The titans were able to slaughter hundreds of defenseless Eldians because he acted like a warrior and broke into Shiganshina.

He joined the 104th Cadet Corps with Reiner and Annie, then the Survey Corps, where he used his influence over his fellow soldiers until he was forced to reveal his true identity and fight them.

However, in Shiganshina, Eren pulled Bertholdt from his Colossal Titan, and Armin ate him, acquiring Bertholdt's strength.

This gave him a taste of his own medicine, although we are unsure if it was a good or bad thing.

7. Floch Forster

As a mere coward, Floch was eventually drawn into the conflict at Shiganshina. He was a new guy after he unexpectedly survived. The more violent Floch became, the more he was drawn to the Jeagerist cause.

Floch sees Eren as a messiah who will usher in a new era for the Eldian Empire under his leadership. Despite his admission that he is a coward, Floch's supporters have come to respect and admire him for his unwavering commitment to his cause.

Floch gains a feeling of purpose and inner power as he devotes himself to following Eren, allowing him to overcome his worries. His dedication was so genuine that the fans couldn't help but hate and love his guts simultaneously.

All Hail, King Floch!

6. Annie Leonhart

Even though Colossal and Armored Titans were first seen in this series, their female counterparts, Annie and her Female Titan are considered the first significant antagonists. And boy, did she wreak havoc on Paradis!

Annie's role as a Titan in Attack on Titan brought viewers to a new level of villainy, and we can never forget her.

Annie wasn't known to back down without a fight. If her hardening material was intact, she might hide from her captors and evade an interrogation by crystallizing herself. She did what had to be done to go home and didn't take anyone's rubbish.

5. Reiner Braun

Reiner isn't a bad guy, but he's also not completely good as well.

As a member of the Survey Corps, he befriended Eren and his comrades and even went to their aid when necessary. When he grabbed Eren and intended to bring him back to Marley, all of it was revealed to be a joke.

Reiner's loyalty to the Warriors is unwavering, and he is always prepared to put himself in danger to protect them. Reiner's dual nature has made him one of the show's most recognizable antagonists.

4. Kenny Ackerman

Despite only appearing in one Attack on Titan episode, Kenny became a fan favorite as a villain. Prior to his friendship with Uri, Kenny the Ripper was an infamous assassin known as Kenny the Ripper. He was given a job as captain of the Anti-Personnel Control Squad by Uri.

Kenny was prepared to betray his pals and even murder children in order to achieve his ambitions.

Despite his nasty temperament, AoT fans respected Kenny because he was loyal to himself and refused to apologize for his acts.

3. Zeke Yeager

Zeke Jaeger - more than simply a skilled fighter; is also the bearer of the enormous Beast Titan. To top it off, he's charismatic and brilliant since he can read his opponents' minds and predict their subsequent actions many steps in advance.

Since his introduction, Zeke had a wicked aura around him that quickly got him under the "villains" category. His nefarious nature is further confirmed when we know that he wanted to harness the strength of the Founding Titan to annihilate the Eldian race.

Achieving his aim required him to turn his back on everyone, including his longtime combat allies, who had been by his side through thick and thin.

2. Eren Yeager

It breaks our heart to categorize him as a villain because Eren didn't have it easy.

As a new member of the Survey Corps, Eren's primary focus was defending the city's walls from the Titans. On the other hand, Eren evolved into a more evil character during the show.

To say that Eren Yeager is a complicated villain would be an understatement. He is a villain only because he feels he alone has the will to protect the people of Eldia - who have spent their entire life cowering away behind the walls.

Even if Eren has gone astray from his noble path, he is still one of the most beloved characters in the series, and rightfully so. The dude gave up everything just to give his friends a fresh start and a fulfilling life - what else does anyone want?

1. King Fritz

We hate this man from the depths of our hearts, and all the fans must know why.

Over two thousand years ago, King Fritz ruled Eldia. Because of his actions, a vicious cycle that would lead to the deaths of many individuals was set in motion. Basically, he wanted to exploit Ymir's Titan abilities to strengthen the Eldian Empire.

In the wake of Ymir's death, Fritz forced his three daughters to consume their mother's remains. How horrendous.

The giants wouldn't have been an issue, and the Marleyans and other species throughout the planet wouldn't have been subjugated for so long if he hadn't existed.

He achieved everything he set out to do for generations after his death until the heroes of Marley and Paradis came along to stop his heinous reign of terror.

Conclusion

And with this, the list comes to an end.

Let us know if you agree with the top 10 villains, from the least nefarious to the most. However, if you don't - we'd love to hear your opinions in the comments below!
