What are the best My Hero arcs?
Great battle sequences, lovable characters and beautiful art makes it impossible to set this series aside.
10) Final Exams
The students study for a written exam. In groups of two we watch the students in Class 1A battle their teachers for the practical exam. Apprehend the villain or escape, those are the instructions. Go!
The battle sequences between the students and the teachers are fantastic! Present Mic VS Jiro and Koda. This battle is awesome! Mic hits Jiro with his Sonic Voice and Koda controls bugs to escape. .
Realistically not everyone passes. Sorry Sato, Kirishima, Mina, Denki, and Mineta. Not everyone has full control over their quirks. They are not all pro heroes overnight. We get to see them struggle like real people do.
All Might VS Midoriya and Bakugo. All Might fights his protege knowing Izuku and Katsuki can’t work together. They surprise All Might when Midoriya hits him with one of Bakugo’s grenade bracers. The look on All Mights face is priceless.
9) Remedial Course
For those who did not pass the Provisional Hero License Exam they have the opportunity to take classes that will allow them to get it.They have to take a group of elementary aged kids who think they are better than pro heroes and set them straight. Win those kids hearts!
The kids are chaotic. Which is funny paired with Bakugo’s lack of patience. They take Bakugo’s grenade bracers!
The character interactions through this arc are comical which contrasts the seriousness of a lot of the arcs that came before it. Present Mic announces the event and Todoriki throws a few burns Katsuki’s way.
The art is beautiful, when they make the ice slide to show the kids how to have fun with their quirks, and when the kids are using their own quirks to be obnoxious, showcases some of the best art in the series.
8) U.S.J.
They get to learn how to rescue people from different environmental situations! Or maybe not because this is when Tomura Shigaraki decides to make his move. Aizawa and Thirteen are the only teachers on site, the students have been scattered through the large arena, and the villains have the exits blocked so no one can call for help.
We meet the League of Villains, who became the main antagonist in the anime. They are scary and chaotic, but when they escape it leaves fans wanting more.
The battles between the pro heroes and Nomu is exciting and suspenseful. All Might hits him with all the power he has and he is barely able to put the beast down.
The relationship between the students is prominent when they are being attacked. They do all they can to protect each other and help the pro heroes. Midoriya and All Might’s relationship is brought closer together after the fight is over.
7) The Sports Festival
A perilous obstacle course, a cavalry battle, and one on one combat, made this arc truly unforgettable as the students strive to be number one.
This arc exposes the other students enrolled at U.A. We meet the business majors, the inventors, and even general studies. Quirks can be used for more than becoming a pro hero.
The origin story for Todoroki is told before his fight against Midoriya. Knowing where the boy comes from is great because he got into U.A. on recommendation. Now we know who his dad is, and how hard his life has been even for the kid of a pro hero.
Pride and honor is a big trait among the students. If they do not feel they competed or won fairly they speak up and remove themselves from the competition. This happened a few times during the games an it shows the high standards the students and the school hold themselves to.
6) School Festival
The class gears up to put on a performance for the school festival. Unaware that Gentle Criminal and La Brava have plans to crash the party.
We spend so much time seeing Class 1A’s quirks used in battle. This arc shows us what they can do for fun. Bakugo can play drums, Mina can dance, and Jiro can sing!
Mirio and Izuku want to make Eri smile. Mirio has lost his quirk saving Eri, but he isn’t upset or resentful. He is still trying to make her happy through her recovery.
We get to watch Izuku take One For All to the next step in personal lessons with All Might and he gets new equipment to make him stronger.
5) Provisional Hero License Exam
The newly retired All Might plunges the world into a desperate need for a new Symbol of Peace. It has never been more important for a group of kids to perform well in the exam. The pressure is on, but not all of class 1A passes.
New Pro heroes and different schools are present and expose greater competition to the students at 1A. Ms. Joke is one of the best.
Of course the exam is going to be hard but it is already set up so not everyone will pass. There are only a certain number of slots available for the best. It is a true competition and U.A. seems to be the biggest target.
Just when it seems this event will be villain free we see Toga slip off undetected after having been transformed into one of the opposing schools students. She managed to get close to Midoriya and capture his blood. Now we need to know what they have planned for it.
4) Vs Hero Killer
The students are off to get an internship with a pro hero! Hero Killer Stain is a vigilante who doesn’t believe heroes should be in a position of power. He believes they are just in it for the money and not for the good of humankind. He kills heroes he deems unworthy of power. He strikes down Iida’s brother and several others.
They choose hero names! Froppy, Grape Rush, Red Riot, Deku, Gravity Girl, etc. So much fun! They are developing their hero identities.
Iida seeks revenge which is not like his usual character. Previously Iida had been level headed and honor driven. We learn of Iida’s character flaws.
Stain gives us another good battle sequence. Midoriya gets there just in time to save Iida from Stain and Todoroki isn’t too far behind. Their fighting techniques are improving and even though they manage to capture Stain it isn’t without consequences.
3) Forest Training Camp
Class 1A and 1B go to a summer camp to further strengthen their quirks. Dropped off on the edge of the forest, they have to fight their way through obstacles created by the Pussycats and make it to camp to get dinner. They are inevitably attacked by the League of Villains again.
New characters! The Pussycats' and their nephew Kota. Another group of pro heroes enlisted to help the students get more training. The more characters we meet the more we learn about hero society and the world they are in, and new quirks are always fun.
This arc doesn’t let us down with a great battle between the students and teachers of U.A. and the League of Villains. Midoriya VS Muscular, Aizawa VS Dabi, and Kendo and Tetsutetsu VS Mustard are three of the fights that make this arc amazing.
In the past the League threats have been fought and won by the heroes. This time they gave us a shock. They are more organized and task driven and they accomplish what they had arrived to do. Bakugo is kidnapped!
2) Hideout Raid
It seems like all the arcs before have led up to this one. The police and the pro heroes have discovered the League of Villains hideout and have carefully plotted to apprehend them and save Bakugo. It seems everything has been accounted for,Except One for All appearing.
Against the advice of fellow students, and the orders given by the U.A. teachers and police, Midoriya, Iida, Todoroki, Kirishima, and Yaomomo launch their own rescue mission for Katsuki. First they go shopping for disguises!
Bakugo has a very aggressive personality and quirk, he is determined to become the number one hero. Now he is in the hands of villains who are offering him a spot in their league. Katsuki never wavers, he doesn’t need to think about it. He knows who he is.
The event that makes this arc one of the best is the fight between All Might and One For All. All Might fights to the last fiber in his body, though he wins, his injuries force him into retirement from being a pro hero and the Symbol of Peace.
1) Overhaul
This arc is one of the more moving and suspenseful ones. A lot of heroes are put into this operation to save little Eri from the cruelty of villains.
The fighting is awesome! There are so many personal battles fought and won. There are so many surprise twists that push the heroes to their limits. Midoriya VS Overhaul and Lemillion VS Overhaul are two of the best.
Mirio’s and Midoriya’s motivation is inspiring.Midoriya and Mirio were unable to save Eri at the beginning of this arc and they are determined to not let her down again. So determined, Lemillion’s quirk was taken from him and he still kept fighting for her.
The art is fantastic through this arc. The beauty of Eri and the aura that surrounds her when her quirk is activated is remarkable. Through the fighting sequences the quirk activations animations are gorgeous.
