[Top 10] My Hero Academia Best Fights

Izuku lays a blow to a resentful Shoto.

Which of the countless fight scenes make this list?

In the anime world, there are a plethora of flashy fight scenes waged between protagonists and their respective villains. Beyond the spectacle of the punches being thrown are the stakes of the battle. The hero could be fighting for the world or attempting to prove his might against a rival. In this list, I have provided ten notable fight scenes from My Hero Academia.

10. USJ

The full showdown is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdMcjHKvNiE

This was the school’s first encounter with the League of Villains and the Nomu. They had expected to visit the Unforeseen Disaster Joint as a training simulation. Instead, they got the real deal.

Eraserhead displays the care he has for the next generation as he puts himself on the line so that the students could live on. His quirk - disabling powers with his eyes - isn’t intended for extended battles. Shigaraki sees this weakness and starts to decay a section of his elbow. The Nomu proceeds to smash his head and crush his limbs.

All Might shows up in time to save the day. He stops the High-End Nomu by pushing beyond his limit and bypassing the regeneration factor of the beast. This action cost All Might his ability to use his power as long as before the first. Regardless, the heroes lived to see another day.

9. Hosu Incident

The incident is shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZR-ff4twBA

The students had engaged in their fall internships before the battle unfolded. Deku was trained by Gran Torino on managing One For All across his body.  Shoto had overcome his reluctance to utilize his left side. Tenya’s brother was paralyzed by a radical terrorist named Stain.

The students and Stain battled in an alleyway. Nobody knew what quirk he had at his disposal until he used it against the students. He can consume the blood of his victims and freeze them for a select period.

The students worked together to deal massive blows to Stain. In the end, Stain believed Deku to be a real hero and was willing to kill a Nomu for his safety. Stain was then taken to Tartarus for dozens of murders.

8. Shoto v. Deku

The match can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEIimCuqZJ4&t=203s

Both Shoto and Deku were in the final four during the sporting competition. Shoto maintained his grudge against his tyrannical father. Deku was anticipating the match and formulating a plan to not break too many of his fingers.

The match was fought using Shoto’s right side. Deku blasted energy out of his fingers and crumbled his bones to mush. Shoto wasn’t doing so well as his excessive use of ice was freezing his body.

Deku told Shoto to embrace his flames as his own and to fight him using all he has got. Shoto unleashed the power of his flames and collided with Shoto in an explosion that rocked the stadium. Deku lost the round and Shoto was victorious.

7.  Joint Rematch

Round 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9_AnKdh7KM

Round 5 of the Joint Training session was interrupted with Monoma trash-talking Deku and agitating his unleashing of the Blackwhip quirk. Under the power of Shinso’s spell, he saw a vision of Lariat (the fifth user of OFA). His wisdom was to use anger to control his power.

Shinso and Deku confronted each other after he regained consciousness. Shinso tried to knock Deku out with some pipes above his head. Deku caught the debris using his Blackwhips. He then learned that he can only use the whips in small bouts.

This fight showed Deku unlocking a new aspect to the quirk he worked to earn. The viewers started to anticipate which of the new quirks would be demonstrated next.

6. Mirio v. Overhaul

The fight for Eri can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkzrZ4lz548

The raid on the Shie Hassaikai was nearing its climax. Overhaul had possession of Eri for her immense power and potential to profit off of her DNA. The quirk destroying bullet is based on her ability to rewind time.

Overhaul wouldn’t let the heroes surrender his cash cow. He and Mirio Togota fought for several minutes over Eri. Overhaul ripped the floor apart and reassembled it into a flurry of spikes. They couldn’t touch Mirio as he phased through them with his quirk.

Even when his quirk factor was shredded, he fought as if nothing had deterred him. Overhaul penetrated his side and watched him bleed out. Mirio succeeded in defending Eri until the support arrived.

This was the battle that established that Togota is not bound by his abilities to be exceptional.

5. All For One v. One For All

More of All Might's final battle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvBc1kIqtwE

The most decisive battle by this point of the series by far. All For One had reemerged to defeat One For All at Kamino and rule over Japan. All For One displayed his quirk’s strength by combining different quirks to blast the mighty hero.

The battle took a toll on All Might’s body. Just using his power contributed to his arm bruising and leaking blood.  All seemed lost until All Might summoned all of his energy into a singular punch.

This finishing move was deemed “United States of Smash”. Its impact created a rupturing blast of wind that blew away all onlookers. All Might was declared victorious and went into retirement.

4. Bakugo v. Deku

More of the match is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh1_nlLpNSM

The students had mostly achieved their provisional hero licenses. The exceptions were Shoto and Bakugo. Shoto had a complication with Inasa that cost him the course. Bakugo couldn’t treat the civilians properly.

Bakugo called Deku aside to expose him for his secret. He told him that all signs point to him inheriting One For All from All Might. Deku had no choice but to admit that his suspicions were true. Bakugo dared to battle Deku one on one to see which is stronger.

Bakugo demonstrated that he has a better mastery of his quirk. Deku flaunted his raw power by burning a mark into Bakugo’s forearms using his ankle. Bakugo narrowly beat Deku in the match.

Aizawa was displeased that his students were fighting on school grounds and sentenced both of them to multiple days of house arrest.

3. Infinite 100%

The battle is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5DKmO5FR1c

Nighteye, a man who can see the future, foresaw that Overhaul would merge with Rikiya and kill Deku in combat. What he did not foresee was Deku’s advantage of using Eri. With her lack of control over her quirk, he could abuse the heck out of his power and not face any repercussions.

He charged his body with the power of One For All and unleashed Full Cowling 100%. His hair glowed a neon blue and lighting discharged from his eyes. He reacted to the attacks of Overhaul in an instant and smashed him kilometers into the sky with just a swing of his leg.

The fusion of the two villains disbanded and Overhaul was arrested. Eri’s horn shrank after Eraserhead disabled her quirk. His intervention was well-timed as Deku was writhing from her power siphoning.

2. Class 1-A v. Nine

The epic climax is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ez0AjMYvek

This was the climax of Nine and his assault on Nabu Island. The entire class collaborated on a plan to take down him and his team.

Right off the bat, Ochaco, Momo, and Aoyama cause pain to their aching bodies by overusing their quirks. Their sacrifices were nullified without much damage to Nine. The strategy was to coax him to overuse his quirks as his body is unable to withstand their cycling.

At one point, Nine was nearing his certain victory and had Bakugo and Deku in his grasp. To offset his advantage, Deku transferred One For All to Bakugo and they fought Nine using the full extent of their powers.

Bakugo released a purple ball of fire that stretched for what seemed like miles. Deku used the electricity of OFA to knock Nine out of his Air Wall. Nine was defeated with a team attack between the two.

In the aftermath of the fight, it was revealed that Deku still possessed OFA and that the users allowed Bakugo to borrow the quirk.

1. Mirko v. Nomus

The fight can be read from chapter 260 to 263.

Based on a tip by Shirakumo’s remnant, the heroes assembled to confront the villains at their source. Mirko greeted Dr. Garaki, All For One’s loyal subject. Shigaraki was in a holding chamber with bubbling liquid surrounding his submerged body. There was a plan to transfer the capabilities of All For One into his body and unleash havoc on the land of Japan.

Mirko wasn’t having any of his schemings. She used her strong body to create an impact so great that it shattered the glass where the Nomus were held. A battle proceeded where she fought against five Nomus and killed two.

She didn’t have the upper hand. One crushed her arm using a wormhole and she had to endure the pain of having a limb ripped from the inside out. She stopped the bleeding using her hair and lunged toward the culpable Nomu. Her legs ripped off the beast’s skull and the brain splattered on the ground. Eyes were caught in the mix of flesh as well.

The Nomu started to gain power and she retreated to focus on smashing Shigaraki’s holding chamber. Endeavor stepped in to fight on her behalf.
