[Top 10] Best Star Wars Ships That We've Seen

What are the best Star Wars ships?

There have been hundreds of ships in Star Wars, across Legends and Canon. Many of these ships have variants, and some are even unique to specific owners.

This article contains ten of the best Star Wars ships, from mass production models to unique ships. From starfighters to flagships, you’ll be seeing ten of the coolest ships that Star Wars has to offer.

10. Eta-2 Actis-Class Interceptor

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker's Eta-2s above Coruscant.

Also known as a Jedi Starfighter, the Eta-2 saw use primarily by the Jedi during the second half of the Clone Wars. After rising to power, the Galactic Empire would use the Eta-2 before replacing them with the Tie Fighter. The Rebel Alliance would then ironically use some Eta-2s against them.

The Eta-2 possessed little armor to reduce engine heat. It had both a set of laser cannons and a set of ion cannons, though its limited power meant the weapons could not be fired for very long. The lack of a shield also made the ship extremely weak, though its speed and agility meant a talented pilot such as a Jedi could avoid harm.

9. BTL Y-Wing Starfighter

An older Y-Wing floating in space.

The Y-Wing was an extremely useful bomber/starfighter hybrid. It was originally manufactured and used during the Clone Wars by the Republic before being decommissioned by the Galactic Empire. The Alliance To Restore The Republic would then utilize many of these Starfighters against the Empire.

Like most efficient starfighters, the Y-wing possessed a decent shield and a compartment for an astromech droid. The ship had two powerful ion engines with various enhancements for mobility and speed. It possessed a set of twin laser cannons to allow for star fighting and a rotating turret with twin ion cannons for a gunner. Most ironically though was a set of proton torpedo launchers, allowing the Y-Wing to release devastation upon its enemies.

8. The Ghost

Her Syndulla's ship, The Ghost.

The Ghost was a VCX-100 light freighter that has been heavily modified by Hera Syndulla. Hera would use the ship as a mobile base of operations and a stealth vehicle, conducting various missions for the Rebellion. It would see operation until at least the Battle of Jakku, and presumably longer.

Unlike most other Ships on this list, The Ghost possesses only a dorsal laser cannons] turret and a turret gunner under the cockpit. A significant portion of the ship was dedicated to cargo holds and crew quarters. The ship had a number of stealth modifications that made it essentially invisible to Imperial scans, earning its name. The ship also possessed a small escape shuttle that could be used as a Starfighter if needed.

7. EF76 Nebulon-B Escort Frigate

A Nebulon-B serving as the Rebels' flagship.

The Nebulon was first manufactured during the end of the Clone Wars and would see use defending Imperial convoys. However, many Nebulon frigates would be used by the Rebel Alliance specifically to combat the Empire. The ships would be frequently used even after the Galactic Civil War, even by the Imperial Remnant. They also served as flagships in place of Star Destroyers.

The Nebulon-B frigates possessed heavy titanium armor and multiple shield systems. Each ship would come with twenty-four laser turrets and two tractor beams, and would usually have missile launchers. In addition to the defenses, the frigates would have space for dozens of starships that could quickly be dispatched to aid in battle.

6. The Ark Angel II

The Ark Angel II docked in a fairly impractical way.

Doctor Aphra's iconic ship was a heavily modified Bellicose class heavy lifter. The ship was modified with various exotic ship parts, many of which were likely gained illegally. Aphra used the ship for various artifact raids, as well as her other less than ethical missions.

Many of the ship's specifications are unknown, though Aphra had refined the decades-old hardware into something rivaling most modern ships. The ship had a set of refurbished Mandalorian laser turrets, twin heavy laser cannons, twin concussion missile launchers, and two hyperdrives.

5. LAAT/i Republic gunship

A LAAT/i blazing into the Battle of Geonosis.

The Low Altitude Assault Transport/Infantry gunship was a planetary ship used during the Clone Wars. It serves primarily as a troop transport, carrying Clone Troopers across a planet's surface. It was able to persevere during combat and had several alternate models for transporting vehicles and equipment. It would be phased out of production by the Galactic Empire.

The LAAT/i possessed mass-driver missile launchers, four beam laser turrets, three anti-personnel laser cannons, eight rockets, and even a door-mounted heavy repeater blaster. The ship had decent armor, as well as the ability to disperse impact across the entire hull. In the event of a crash, troops were able to easily exit the ship and would have a number of supplies to aid them.

4. T-65 X-Wing Starfighter

Luke Skywalker's X-Wing, with R2-D2 onboard.

The Galactic Empire commissioned the X-Wing starfighter, only for the entire development team to defect to the Rebel Alliance. The X-Wing would quickly become the signature Starfighter of the Rebels, serving them up until they became the New Republic and beyond.

The X-Wing had four laser cannons mounted to their wings. During combat, the wings could fold out to increase the chances of hitting an enemy. The ships also held two launch tunes, primarily for proton torpedoes. In addition to their weapons, X-Wings also had a shield to protect against laser fire and even a hyperdrive despite the ship's small size.

3. The Millenium Falcon

The Millenium Falcon over Yavin-4.

The Millenium Falcon was a Corellian YT-1300 light freighter that underwent extensive modifications from its various owners. The ship would be passed from owner to owner over its decades of use, before eventually landing in the care of Han Solo. The ship would be used as a smuggling vessel by him, before eventually becoming an ugly crown jewel of the Rebel Alliance. It would even be used to destroy the second Death Star by Lando Calrissian.

The ship required two pilots to be fully operational, along with a gunner for peak combat capabilities. It possessed two sublight engines, a modified hyperdrive, multiple power generators, shields for various parts of the ship, and an escape pod. For weapons, it was equipped with concussion missile tubes, two sets of quad laser cannons, and a surface-defense blaster cannon, in addition to various temporary weapons.

2. Slave I

Boba Fett's Slave I, painted to reflect his armor colors.

The Slave I was a modified Firespray-31 patrol and attack craft owned by Jango and Boba Fett. The ship was stolen by Jango Fett following his escape from slavery and would fall into ownership of his son after his death. Boba Fett would then use the ship for over thirty years, adding extensive modifications.

While the ship would have various arsenals, Boba used a set of twin rotating blaster cannons, two concussion missile launchers, two proton torpedo launchers, ion cannons, and even a tractor beam. The ship could also hold two speeder bikes and an escape craft, with room to spare for recovered bounties.

1. Executor Super Star Destroyer

The imposing Executor-class Star Destroyer belonging to Darth Vader.

Vader's signature flagship, Executors were some of the largest ships at the time of the Galactic Civil War. While there were only four Executor-class Star Destroyers in service at the time of The Battle of Yavin, within only a few years they would be mass produced. Following the death of Emperor Palpatine, Executors would be sought after by every Imperial warlord that climbed to power.

The Executors were built with alusteel and reinforced with titanium. They possessed two shield generators located outside the bridge. Each Executor had thousands of turbolaser batteries, hundreds of concussion missile tubes, two hundred and fifty ion cannons, five hundred laser cannons, and forty tractor beams. It could transport thousands of Tie Fighters and hundreds of other vehicles, all of which could quickly be deployed in the midst of battle.
