[Top 5] Best Multiplayer Star Wars Games That You Can Play With Friends

What are the best coop Star Wars games?

There have been dozens of Star Wars games released over the years, but very few of them have been coop.

Amidst that handful of games, five stand out. Below you will find the five absolute best multiplayer Star Wars games.

5. Star Wars: Empire At War

The gameplay trailer for Empire At War.

Empire At War is set between Episodes III and IV. The game features two campaigns, one for the Rebel Alliance and one for the Galactic Empire. The Rebel campaign will see the player amassing soldiers and ships, launching raids against the Empire before eventually reaching the Battle of Yavin. The Imperial campaign features Darth Vader hunting down Rebel scum and constructing the Death Star, culminating in the battle station's destructive debut.

The game focuses on resource management, with players needing to secure control of planets in order to gain credits. Credits are then spent on new ships, training, and research. From there the player must plan out battle strategies, as the rival faction will seek to destroy them. The game features a three-dimensional map for resource management and uses a series of maps for land and space battles. There is also a "skirmish" mode that cuts out resource management in favor of pure combat. The game can be played solo, with your friends, or even against them!

4. Star Wars Squadrons

The iconic Squadrons trailer that truly captured the feel of a space battle.

Star Wars Squadrons features two intertwined campaigns, starting during Episode IV and ending after Episode VI. The Rebel forces gain an Imperial ally, while the Imperials lose a capable leader they believed to be fiercely loyal. The Rebels attempt to build a secret project, while the Empire seeks to destroy it.

Squadrons functions very similarly to Battlefront 2's space combat but are completely overhauled. The player truly feels like they are in the cockpit of an X-Wing or Tie Fighter, with status readouts telling them everything they need to know about their ship. Players are able to divert power from their shields to their cannons or use special abilities to turn the tide of war.

3. Star Wars The Old Republic

The Old Republic trailer that showed the massive scale of the game.

Over 3,000 years before the events of the Star Wars movies, The Republic is at war with the Sith Empire. Various factions fight for power and control, while bounty hunters perform mercenary work, and the Jedi and Sith battle to end each other once and for all. Players can choose one of eight classes to play as, and each class possesses its own campaign.

The Old Republic is an MMORPG, allowing players to experience dozens of different roles. The game has a third-person camera with the player able to use their standard attacks or select one of their hot keyed abilities. These abilities range from Force powers to exciting jetpack attacks, depending on classes. You can play through the campaigns Solo, but the best experience is teaming up with a group of friends who are all different classes.

2. Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga shows off a new generation of brick-based fun.

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga tells the story of the Skywalker family. From young Anakin Skywalker, who would inevitably become Darth Vader, to Rey Skywalker who would one day defeat Darth Sidious once and for all. This time, however, it's Lego. Many events have also been changed to be more comedic than in the movies, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi challenging General Grievous to a dance-off before their fight.

The game features third-person combat, with several different classes for the hundreds of Lego characters. You can be a powerful Jedi, sharp shooting Scoundrel, deadly Bounty Hunter, and more. Between combat sections you will need to solve puzzles and build new structures out of Lego blocks, as well as collect Lego studs to use as currency. The entire game is intended be played with a friend by your side.

1. Star Wars Battlefront 2

All your favorite Star Wars battlefield, gloriously recreated in Battlefront 2.

EA's Star Wars Battlefront 2 is set after the destruction of the second Death Star and the death of Emperor Palpatine. Players control Iden Versio, the head of an Imperial special forces unit. While players begin loyally serving the Empire, they will eventually defect to the New Republic and assist in taking down the Empire.

The game contains a mix of first-person and third person camera styles that players can usually switch between. In multiplayer modes they can play as iconic heroes and villains such as Yoda and Darth Vader. There are several modes to choose from, ranging from small fights to epic battles ranging across giant maps. When you team up with friends, your performance drastically increases thanks to your communication and cooperation.
