There are quite a few weapons in Bloodborne, which make up for in quality rather than in quantity, in contrast to the Dark Souls series with its quantity approach.
These are called Trick Weapons, the backbone of what makes you feel like a badass in Bloodborne.
Considering the difficulty of Bloodborne, it's no surprise most players will often struggle with it. This guide offers to teach you where to find the best of these trick weapons and how to utilize them well in combat to become a true beast hunter.
The following are the top 5 best weapons in Bloodborne (and how to get them):
5. Saw Cleaver (Best for Everything)
The Saw Cleaver is one of the first weapons you get in the game, and it ends up being one of the best until the end. With roundabout skills and an easy-to-learn moveset, you can quickly destroy everything by abusing the transformation attacks, which when combined with Beast Blood pellets can easily dish out 1000 damage per strike.
Its moveset is basic and straightforward with fast enough strikes to give you easy-open windows for dodging. It's not really that good at staggering the enemy unless you attach Bolt paper or Fire paper, but it's something that can do the job very fast and is generally the weapon most speedrunners also use.
To make it even better, you get the Saw Cleaver literally as one of the first weapons, meaning you can use this beast slaying monstrosity as soon as possible! Not to mention, this baby is a Serrated weapon which means extra damage to beasts.
It has the following stats:
- Physical Attack: 90
- VS Kin: 100
- VS Beast: 100
- Durability: 200
It requires the following stats to wield; however, they are low enough so that you can wield it with any class you pick.
- Strength: 8 D
- Skill: 7 E
- Arcane: 0 D

4. Blade of Mercy (Best for Slicin’ n Dashin’)
Short, yet deadly.
What it lacks in range, it makes up for in making your enemy's health bar get a leak as it continuously drains. While lackluster in its standard form, it's transformed state is a beast in its own right. By continuously just attacking, you can stunlock the enemy forever, so there isn't even a need to block as you make their health bar vanish completely.
Combine this weapon with the Old Hunter's Bone and quickstepping, and you get a monster of your own. This is what makes the Blade of Mercy so terrifying, as anyone caught in its flurry will not live to see another day. Think of the Midget Goliath in Borderlands 2, and this is basically the weapon version of that.
- Physical Attack: 60
- Arcane Attack: 30
- VS Kin: 100
- VS Beast: 100
- Durability: 200
The following are the requirements necessary to wield this weapon:
- Strength: 7
- Skill: 11 C
- Arcane: D

3. Whirligig Saw (Best for cutting pizza)
Let it rip!
Dubbed the Pizza Cutter, and a weapon the online meta despises as it is an absolute beast in PvP. The Whirligig Saw is one of the DLC weapons, and it's perhaps the most unique and beautiful creation to bless Bloodborne. Imagine a chainsaw in that era, and that's this weapon.
By letting rip the L2 in it's transformed state, you can keep slicing all enemies as you walk until your stamina runs out. This is truly the most wonderful move at its disposal as it can stunlock almost any enemy, bosses included. I remember playing with one of my friends, and we both would let this sweet bastard rip on the enemies, watching them melt while they literally did nothing. It was abuse, and we loved it.
The Whirligig Saw deals devastating damage otherwise as well, making it one of the best weapons in Bloodborne.
However, getting it can be a bit of a chore, as you first need access to the DLC and then either make a run for it or go through the whole DLC just before Ludwig, where it's hidden just near the lamp outside Ludwig's boss fight. But it is definitely worth getting! And in consequent playthroughs, it's the bomb!
- Physical Attack: 95
- VS Kin: 100
- VS Beast: 100
- Durability: 230
Following are the requirements necessary to become a master pizza cutter:
- Strength: 18 D
- Skill: 12 E
- Arcane: D

2. Chikage (Best for being a badass)
Blood. Blood, everywhere.
Chikage might've probably been the best weapon in Bloodborne, because of how overpowered it can get. However, with great power comes great management of your health, as the Chikage continuously leeches at your health in it's transformed state, meaning you'd have to manage that during the fighting.
Not to mention, Chikage has a complex moveset and is generally one of the harder weapons to master. But the reward is very worth it, making this the second-best weapon in the game. It's moveset perhaps trumps the number 1 as well, so you know this blood-sucking fiend is good.
Plus, it’s a Cainhurst invention, anyone familiar with Bloodborne, knows that’s the best gang to be with. Or just play cosplay as any REAL Soulsborne player does.
- Physical Attack: 92
- Blood Attack: 92
- Rapid Poison: 30
- VS Kin: 100
- VS Beast: 100
- Durability: 120
Chikage requires a bit different stats to wield which can make for a unique build, here are the requirements:
- Strength: 10 E
- Skill: 14 D
- Bloodtinge: 12 C
- Arcane: D

1. Ludwig’s Holy Blade (Best for being overpowered)
Imagine devastating damage output alongside a vast move set that allows you to completely obliterate the fool that dares cross paths with you, and that's the Ludwig's Holy Blade. Not only can you get this weapon early, but it's also the most versatile, with both fast attacks and slower ones.
However, make no mistake, its true prowess shines when you fight in it's transformed state and mash that R2 button. It's charged R2 is easily one of the strongest attacks in the game, turning the tide of the battle in your favor.
There really is no alternative to this weapon, and it's perfect for newcomers and veterans alike. Not to mention it looks super cool and is linked with perhaps the best boss in Bloodborne.
You can obtain this slayer of beasts by unlocking Upper Cathedral Ward and merely grabbing the Radiant Sword Hunter Badge, which allows you to purchase it for 20,000 echoes.
- Physical Attack: 100
- VS Kin: 100
- VS Beast: 100
- Durability: 250
It requires the following stats:
- Strength: 16 D
- Skill: 12 D
- Arcane: D

Hopefully, with this guide, you can get these weapons and also utilize the best of them. Good luck hunting, oh good hunter!
