What Are The Best Sidearms in Destiny 2?

Introduced in the second expansion of D1, sidearms are now a common sight in Destiny 2.

1. The Last Dance

A common Vanguard reward from Zavala, The Last Dance is a burst fire sidearm. Omolon is known for making energy weapons within the world of Destiny, and The Last Dance is no exception. This quick firing energy weapon is capable of taking down an enemy’s shields in no time.

The Last Dance is a legendary item, so defining the perks it has is difficult as they are random. However, The Last Dance features high impact and stability. A large magazine size and predictable recoil to accommodate the three fire burst.

2. Drang (Baroque)

A reimagined version of Drang from Emperor Calus’ new Menagerie. Drang is a Golden Age weapon that has special properties with the exotic hand cannon Sturm. Drang (Baroque) has been reworked and is a capable weapon with, or without, Sturm.

Drang (Baroque) shares Drang’s partnership with Sturm. Together Forever allows for kills to reload and add a bonus damage round to Sturm. As a legendary weapon, the perks you require are random. However, the curated roll contains Quickdraw and Rampage. Quickdraw allows for an incredibly fast draw speed and Rampage increases damage for every kill to a max stack of three.

3. Smuggler’s Word

A legendary sidearm introduced in the Forsaken expansion of Destiny 2. Smuggler’s Word is a common drop from legendary engrams. This sidearm’s name mirrors the Guardian’s relationship with Spider, a Fallen crime boss.

Smuggler’s Word is a legendary, so its perks are randomly generated. However, the base stats are good enough alone. Smuggler’s Word features high stat numbers in impact, stability, and range. It also has the Aggressive Burst perk that allows the sidearm to fire in a two round burst.

4. Vestian Dynasty

The first sidearm of Destiny and a returning one to Destiny 2. Vestian Dynasty is the sidearm of Petra Venj and used by her to help kill Uldren Sov. Vestian Dynasty is awarded to Guardians after completing the campaign of the Forsaken expansion.

Vestian Dynasty is a legendary that has a single fixed roll. Kill Clip increases damage when it is reloaded after a kill. Dragonfly creates an elemental explosion on a precision kill. The recoil is incredibly predictable and easily manageable.

5. Rat King

The only sidearm exotic in Destiny 2 and made to be used as a team. The Rat King is one of the exotic quest lines given during the endgame of Destiny 2. Named after a grotesque occurrence with rodents, the Rat King has lore and quest steps that suggest using it as a team.

Rat Pack increases the damage when fellow Guardians are using Rat King, and this stacks up to a max of six. Vermin grants invisibility when reloading immediately after a kill. Multiple perks increase this weapon’s stability and range as well.
