The mechanical maniac is also a genius, known to tinker around with gadgets and fry his enemies with lasers! Sniper stands no chance in the laning phases against a Tinker as he will always be targeted with constant harassment in the form of rockets and lasers! With the addition of the Shield. This hero is ruthless in the current meta!

We have curated a list of the best 10 counters to Tinker so you or your teammates do not rage quit! The mentioned heroes have what it needs to shut down and obliterate the evil genius! 

 

10. Slark

This vicious creature of the deep sea knows no bounds! Slark is one of the stealthiest and deadly carry heroes in the game. His lethal skills make him quite popular in the current meta. Diffusal Blade makes him immensely strong as it causes Tinker to lose mana quickly. He can also purge off Tinker’s laser, allowing him to chase the latter effortlessly. Slark also farms faster compared to the Tinker, and is capable of dodging all his spells!

  • Dark Pact dispels Laser's blind.
  • Pounce prevents Tinker from blinking away.
  • Slark frequently builds Shadow Blade, which allows him to approach Tinker unnoticed.

Vengeful Spirit is notorious for being a great gap closer, and the best part is that she is level reliant as opposed to farm! Tinker is often scouted out by Wave of Terror and if he is in range, he may be swapped out into his death! Not all heroes, especially in the support roles are seen to have such great initiating powers!

  • Wave of Terror can reveal a Tinker attempting to hide in the trees 
  • Nether Swap and Magic Missile will both serve to interrupt/lock him down, should he attempt to town portal or Rearm.

8. Zeus

Zeus proves to be one of the best mid laners regardless of your status as a new or experienced player, this is highly attributed to his extreme DPS spells and wave clearance abilities. He is a must-play hero as he is very annoying against Tinker right from the laning phase. He can dish out some serious damage with spells and constantly harass his opponents. He is also infamous for having the potential to solo kill Tinker with the right items and levels!

Why Zeus is Great against Tinker 

  • Zeus can easily reveal Tinker's location in the trees with Thundergod's Wrath.
  • When Zeus has an Aghanim's Scepter, he can use his Nimbus, together with Lightning Bolt to interrupt Tinker's Boots of Travel channeling and cancel Tinker's Blink Dagger.

7. Storm Spirit

Prepare for stormy weather time! Storm Spirit is one of the well-known counters to Tinker! This is due to his ability to jump directly on him and control him while his teammates follow up! Played exclusively in the mid lane (unless you’re below 3K) Storm struggles severely in the lane, but as soon as he gets his level 6, he can change the trajectory of the game with his spells. A late-game 6-slotted Storm is a lethal force to be reckoned with!

Why Storm Spirit is Great against Tinker? 

  • He can easily catch Tinker in the trees with Ball Lightning and kill him with Orchid Malevolence.
  • Abilities deal both physical and magical damage, making them difficult for Tinker to itemize against.

6. Nightstalker

This silent stalker hunts for his enemies throughout the night, as dawn approaches his powers to get weaker but he still holds the power to rip his enemies apart! Tinker can’t contest Nightstalker in the nighttime, because he is frankly powerless against him, courtesy of the Silence. Nightstalker may be a slow farmer but as soon as he hits level 6, he can rotate towards other lanes to secure kills and gold. Blink Dagger remains an exceptional item that can be used to initiate along with the silence, or further hunt down the nimble Tinker!

Why Nightstalker is Great against Tinker 

  • Night Stalker can easily find Tinker in the trees during Dark Ascension.
  • Void's mini-stun will stop Rearm and Boots of Travel.
  • Crippling Fear's silence will prevent Tinker from fighting back, as Tinker relies on his spells.

5. Silencer

Silence is one aspect that counters Tinker the most! And well, Silencer… you know it’s kind of self-explanatory. Having spells that silence or prevent from using any items makes him very powerful against Tinker. The best part is that laning is not fun for Tinker against a Silencer, frequent right-click damage, low CD spells shove him out of the lane! Global Silence disables all the power Tinker has and renders him useless if he is caught off-guard! 

Why Silencer is Great against Tinker 

  • Tinker relies heavily on his spells to be effective, Last Word and Global Silence will render him largely useless.
  • Arcane Curse effectively prevents Tinker from casting spells during its duration, as he will otherwise suffer heavy damage.
  • Glaives of Wisdom deal pure damage, which makes quick work of fragile heroes like Tinker.

4. Doom

Doom is known to dominate the battlefield with his terrifying spells and animosity as he is feared by both angels and devils. Though the laning phase may be rough on Doom, he hits his item timings quickly, thanks to Devour and Scorched Earth. Being more level reliant over the farm, Doom must constantly gank other lanes to secure farm and space for his team! He shreds through Tinker due to his high magic damage and disables, rendering him useless.

Tinker is heavily reliant on casting his spells and Doom can disable all of his abilities and items. 

Aghanim's Scepter only makes it harder for Tinker to survive.

This charismatic warrior has a bone to pick against the mages! His hatred for the arcane arts is unmatchable. He is the Anti-Mage! He has what you need to counter Tinker, Blink, and mana break! An early game AM can effortlessly decimate Tinker and make him buy Glimmer Cape or Force Staff. This will slow down his farm while AM is known to farm at a faster pace, allowing him to get ahead in the net worth charts.

Why Anti-Mage is Great against Tinker 

  • Tinker is fragile and vulnerable against carries like Anti-Mage.
  • Mana Break burns away his mana pool and deals bonus physical damage.
  • Tinker's massive mana pool makes Mana Void deal a large amount of damage.
  • Tinker doesn't want any of his spells reflected back at him through Counterspell.

2. Clockwerk

Another mechanical genius on our list is the Clockwerk! Often played in the offlane or as roaming support, early rotations can cause great damage to Tinker. After reaching level 6, the Hookshot makes sure the Tinker hiding in the distance is caught and punished.   • Clockwerk can easily catch a split pushing Tinker with his Hookshot and prevent him from escaping with Power Cogs and Battery Assault.
  • He can find a Tinker hiding in trees with his Rocket Flare.
  • Clockwerk usually buys a Blade Mail, which does lots of damage to Tinker if he gets hit by his abilities.
