Fallout 76 Best Perks To Start With And Level Up (Top 10 Perks)

Fallout 76 Best Perks

The Best Fallout 76 Perks To Start Out With

There is a variety of perk cards you can acquire while leveling up in Appalachia. This can lead many to wonder what the best choices would be  when leveling or what build would work best for their playstyle.

Thankfully you can swap out perk cards at any time, since Fallout 76 is very situational, and you don’t want to have perks suited for building and crafting, when you are adventuring in new areas full of vicious enemies.

These are my top choices for must have perks you will need when leveling up.

10. Pack Rat

Pack Rat Perk Card

Pack Rat Perk Card

  • The Pack Rat perk card reduces the weight of all junk items by 25% and can be equipped at level 7.
  • One of the major obstacles you will run into while adventuring around the wasteland is the lack of inventory space. Once you start finding more weapons and start collecting junk for crafting materials this card is a must.

9. Slow Metabolizer

Slow Metabolizer Perk Card

  • Slow metabolizer perk makes it so all food satisfies hunger by an additional 25% and can be equipped at level 5
  • Fallout 76 has a survival aspect to it, where you have to eat and drink, so you aren’t suffering from starvation and dehydration, which will have negative side effects once your food and water meters run out. This perk allows your food meter to fill up more from the food you eat so you don’t have to worry about it as often.

8. Picklock

Picklock Perk Card

  • The Picklock perk gives you +1 lockpicking skill and makes the lockpicking spot to unlock the lock 10% larger.
  • Throughout the world you will find a number of locks that you will need level 1 to 3 lock picking to gain access to, either a sweet stash of supplies or gain access to certain rooms or safes for objectives. This is one of those situational perk cards that is important to have, but you might want to have a combat card equipped until you find one of these locks you will need it for. Hacker is another card to consider, when trying to get into certain rooms or access terminals.

7. Born Survivor

Born Survivor Perk Card

  • The Born Survivor perk uses a stimpack automatically when your health falls below 20%
  • This perk is a must have life saver, when leveling up in the literal sense. There will be a number of times you will encounter a pack of enemies, that ambush you or run into something you can’t handle in a straight up fight. This perk will give you that quick health burst to save your life from imminent death, because you can’t access your pip boy to heal yourself in time.

6. First Aid

First Aid Perk Card

  • First aid perk restores 15% more health when using Stimpaks.
  • This is the perfect card to go with Born Survivor so each stimpak gives you more health, which comes in handy since there will be times you run low on supplies.

5. Lead Belly

Lead Belly Perk Card

  • The Lead belly perk makes it so you take 30% less radiation from eating or drinking.
  • Everything is full of radiation so having a red line eating a chunk of your health will be common in the wasteland. This will force you to use much needed radaway’s or radX’s to survive. This perk makes it so you suffer less, when simply trying to survive when you cant get your hands on purified water or food without radiation.

4. Traveling Pharmacy

Traveling Parmacy Perk Card

  • The Traveling Pharmacy Perk makes the weight of all chems (including stimpaks) reduced by 30%
  • You are going to want to collect as many healing chems you can get your hands on, when trying to survive Fallout 76. These chems can get heavy since you will realize you need a lot of food and stimpaks, along with any other chems, to get rid of radiation or disease at any time, which can take up a lot of weight.

3. Sturdy Frame

Sturdy Frame Perk Card

  • The Sturdy Frame perk makes all armor weigh 25% less than normal.
  • Like all the other perks you will realize the need for inventory space as you level up. There will be a lot of items being abandoned or dropped, if you don’t choose the right perks for traveling to new areas with. This perk helps so you can actually pick up new weapons or items you might find. Armor and weapons tend to be the heaviest items by far, so this is a perfect perk to help out with this issue especially when you start to level it up.

2. Scrounger

Scrounger Perk Card

  • The Scrounger perk gives 40% chance to find extra ammo when you “Search” an ammo container
  • Running out of ammo is a common occurrence, when fighting your way through waves of tough enemies. This gives you another chance to find some extra ammo when you find ammo caches around the map.

1. Pharma Farma

Pharma Farma Perk Card

  • The Parma Farma perk gives you a 40% extra chance to find first aid chems when you “Search” a chem container.
  • This perk will find you extra stimpaks, which you will always in need of. Finding a former hospital and clinic with a couple of chem containers, is the perfect time to use this perk and stock up on your supply of first aid chems.

These perks aren’t for a specific battle build since everyone has a different playstyle so finding the perks to suit your specific weapon choice is a different story. But these are some must have perks when adventuring around the wasteland and help you survive, while leveling up your character without running out of supplies.
