Who needs Ethers in the game?

BLM, the answer has always been BLM. An excellent Black Mage always has burst potion and Ethers in their possession. Why so? Long story short, Black Mage is the most complex class currently in Final Fantasy XIV. You may need a burst potion during your burst period and may need additional mana for your skill, Despair or Flare. With all potions sharing recast time, what are the best mana potions in Final Fantasy XIV? Here’s the answer to the question!

5. Kiss of the Morning Meadow

This is a special potion issued by Twin Adder. You can only purchase this potion if you are at least a Serpent Sergeant Third. You can only bring one kind of this potion in quantity. Other than not requiring Gil to trade, though you will need 2850 grand company seals, there is nothing special about this potion, not even HQ.

The NQ will give you the following effects:

• Restores up to 10% of MP (1000 points max).
• Recast time of 5 minutes.

4. Onyx Tears

This fragrant fusion of aromatic oils has long been used by the Brass Blades of Ul'dah to instantly rejuvenate both body and mind.

Now, this is a special Grand Company potion issued by the Immortal Flames. Like Kiss of the Morning Meadow, you can only carry one of these in your inventory. The good thing is that this will also heal your HP; the downside is that you can only have one potion at a time. Onyx Tears are limited to Immortal Flame; you can trade this potion once you reach Flame Sergeant Third Class in this Grand Company rank for 2850 grand company seals

These are the NQ effects:

• Restores up to 50% of HP (1000 points max).
• Restores up to 8% of MP (800 points max).
• Recast time of 5 minutes.

3. Hi-Elixir

This special blend of herbal extracts and aetheric essence rejuvenates body and mind, instantly restoring HP and MP.

I would recommend Hi-Elixir for all BLM out there who love to stand in AoE, it may not be much, but a little HP is better than nothing. Hi-Elixir dropped in the following raids; The Binding Coil of Bahamut Turn 1, The Binding Coil of Bahamut Turn 3, The Second Coil of Bahamut Turn 3, and The Second Coil of Bahamut Turn 3 [Savage]. The MP (HQ) recovered is also enough for despair/flare. If you don’t want to farm these raids, you can also craft them or go straight to the market board!

The NQ will give you the following effects:

• Restores up to 24% of HP (1920 points max).
• Restores up to 6% of MP (600 points max).
• Recast time of 5 minutes.

The HQ will give you the following effects:

• Restores up to 30% of HP (2400 points max).
• Restores up to 8% of MP (800 points max).
• Recast time of 4 minutes, 30 seconds.

2. Max-Ether

Processed via the alchemical extraction of aetheric essence occurring in elemental crystals, the contents of this vial instantly restore a considerable amount of MP.

Max-Ether will recover up to 1500 points max. This will give you enough MP to do a Despair/Flare. To have this potion, you can try hitting the Market Board or have an alchemist craft it for you!

The NQ will give you the following effects:

• Restores up to 12% of MP (1200 points max)
• Recast time of 5 minutes.

The HQ will give you the following effects:

• Restores up to 15% of MP (1500 points max)
• Recast time of 4 minutes, 30 seconds.

1. Super-Ether

Processed via the alchemical extraction of aetheric essence occurring in elemental crystals, the contents of this vial instantly restore a significant amount of MP.

Super Ether is currently recovering the most MP at the moment. There is no other mana potion that heals as much as Super-Ether. Super-Ether allows Black Mage to cast extra Fire IV. You can go to the Market Board or craft by the Alchemist to get one of these.

The NQ will give you the following effects:

• Restores up to 14% of MP (1400 points max)
• Recast time of 5 minutes.

The HQ will give you the following effects:

• Restores up to 18% of MP (1800 points max)
• Recast time of 4 minutes, 30 seconds.

Now, I know that most of you will bring Super-Ether, and I can’t blame you for that. But Hi-Elixir is also a good choice if you also need HP; hi-elixir (HQ) can fill the spot for both the need to cast Despair/Flare and restore your HP.
