Why do you play Monk?
Because they have the fastest GCD at the moment? Yes, one of the reasons why people main Monk is because of their short GCD, but they also have a shortage of not having any ranged attack (pls fix). To play Monk, you must first know their primary status: Critical and Direct Hit rates. Now, with this in mind, let's see what food suits them best!
5. Chicken Fettuccine (iLevel 510)
Flat, thick pasta smothered in a rich cream sauce with tender slices of chicken thigh.
Despite being in a lower-iLevel meal, you can't go wrong with Chicken Fettuccine if you are doing lower-level content. Yup! This is the meal you should pick so you would not waste that much Gil if you are not doing the latest content yet. You can get this from the Market Board or cook it with a Culinarian.
The NQ status effects:
- Critical Hit +8% (Max 56)
- Vitality +8% (Max 59)
- Skill Speed +8% (Max 34)
The HQ status effects:
- Critical Hit +10% (Max 70)
- Vitality +10% (Max 74)
- Skill Speed +10% (Max 43)

4. Baked Alien Soup (iLevel 560)
Alien onions are sautéed, simmered in a savory bouillon, then topped with crispy cheese for a simple yet satisfying meal.
This is the second lower iLevel food for your Monk. If you are doing relatively high-level content (but not the latest content), you can use this food instead of Chicken Fettuccine. This food will boost your skill speed and Direct Hit Rate to achieve that optimum rotation of a Monk. You can get this food from the Market Board or by crafting with your Culinarian.
The NQ status effects:
- Skill Speed +8% (Max 66)
- Vitality +8% (Max 68)
- Direct Hit Rate +8% (Max 40)
The HQ status effects:
- Skill Speed +10% (Max 82)
- Vitality +10% (Max 85)
- Direct Hit Rate +10% (Max 50)

3. Pumpkin Potage (iLevel 580)
A creamy soup that highlights the rich and nutty flavor of the giant pumpkin.
Monk likes to go fast, but if you are still practising your GCD rotation, I might suggest you go with Pumpkin Potage. This is proven to be the favorite food by most physical DPS. This will not help in the fast rotation of Monk's GCD, but at least there is no additional skill speed that makes you go faster. You can always get this from the Market Board if you don't like to cook yourself.
The NQ status effects:
- Determination +8% (Max 72)
- Vitality +8% (Max 74)
- Critical Hit +8% (Max 43)
The HQ status effects:
- Determination +10% (Max 90)
- Vitality +10% (Max 93)
- Critical Hit +10% (Max 54)

2. Beef Stroganoff (iLevel 580)
Choice cuts of meat are simmered in a savory sauce to create this Garlean specialty, the ideal supplement to one's squat regime.
Beef Stroganoff may be the right food for you if you want to go even faster. This meal boosts your Skill Speed even more. With Direct Hit Rate as one of the main statuses of Monk, this food is recommended for you who would like to go fast. You can get this food by making it yourself, or go to the nearest Market Board!
The NQ status effects:
- Skill Speed +8% (Max 72)
- Vitality +8% (Max 74)
- Direct Hit Rate +8% (Max 43)
The HQ status effects:
- Skill Speed +10% (Max 90)
- Vitality +10% (Max 93)
- Direct Hit Rate +10% (Max 54)

1. Pumpkin Ratatouille (iLevel 580)
This colorful dish consists of a variety of vegetables, sautéed in perilla oil and then simmered to enrich their combined flavor.
This is the best food for all Monks regardless of the BiS set you to choose! Pumpkin Ratatouille will maximize all of your Monk potentials so you can make all the bosses your punching bag! You will have either 1.94 or 1.93 GCD, depending on the BiS you are using. You can get this food by cooking it yourself–if you have a culinarian–or from the Market Board.
The NQ status effects:
- Critical Hit +8% (Max 72)
- Vitality +8% (Max 74)
- Skill Speed +8% (Max 43)
The HQ status effects:
- Critical Hit +10% (Max 90)
- Vitality +10% (Max 93)
- Skill Speed +10% (Max 54)

Regardless, you can't go wrong with these meals! With enough practice and a proper understanding of the mechanics, you can excel in any job, including Monk!
