[Top 5] Friday the 13th Best Ways to Survive

In a survival-horror spectacular such as Friday the 13th: The Game, surviving is the name of the game. That is if you don’t want to end up like the generically murdered teenage camp counselors that appear in the films. Friday the 13th: The Game is a game built on survival skills and working together as a team to escape Jason Vorhees. Danger lurks around every corner while Pamela’s son inspects the perimeter, so understanding the necessary skills to last the entire match is essential for gameplay.
Counselors have the chance to outlast Jason, so long as they follow careful strategies and know the ways to escape from Jason’s murder spree. From making sure no cabin gets left unturned to fighting back against Jason, here’s an in-depth guide to help you survive the night!
How to Survive
5. Call the Police
One of the easiest ways to survive as a counselor is by calling the police. To call the police, a player must first find the fuse. The fuse can be found in one of the drawers in a cabin on the map. The fuse is needed to repair the phone box, which is attached to a random cabin on the map. Note: The cabin that contains the fuse is not the same cabin that has the phone box attached to it, though the fuse is usually located in a nearby cabin. Once the phone box is repaired, a counselor will have to locate the phone inside of the cabin to call the police.
Using a counselor with excellent Repair is a bonus as the actual repairing process will be much easier. Equipping any counselor with the My Dad’s A Cop perk can also help, as the perk knocks off how much time it will take the police to arrive. Search cabins, collect weapons and items, and do whatever you can until the police show up! Just make sure you have a map to know which exit the police are waiting at.
4. Repair the Car
One of the most common methods of escape is repairing the car. There are two cars located on each map; the two-seat car and the four-seat car. Both cars require a battery, gas, and keys for an actual escape. Parts for the cars are located in random cabins throughout the map, and sometimes even in structures like the boathouse or barn. Keys are found in drawers inside of cabins, which again are completely random each time.
What makes this method tricky is that Jason is immediately alerted when a player starts the car. Jason can then use his Morph to teleport to wherever the car is on the map, thus interfering with a quick escape. Most players aim to “bob-and-weave” around Jason so they can drive the car up the camping trail to the main road. An experienced Jason will catch on quickly and use his abilities like Shift and Morph to prevent the car from reaching the exit. Make sure you put the pedal to the metal and speed on out!
3. Repair the Boat
Another common escape route is repairing the boat. To repair the boat, counselors need to find the gas and propeller. As mentioned before, the gas can be found inside any random cabin on the map. The propeller can also be found inside of a cabin, but it’s never found inside of a drawer. The propeller is usually on a desk, table, or shelf inside of the cabin. Once the gas and propeller are installed in the boat, up to two counselors can escape by climbing in the boat and following the map to the lake’s red exit markers.
This chance of escape is considered to be more difficult than calling the police or repairing the cars, as a certain amount of stealth and skill is needed to complete this Objective. Just like the car, Jason gets an alert when the boat has started. The trouble is, if you’ve got a Jason with great Water Speed, he can catch the boat quickly and drown the counselors in the water.
2. Survive for 20 Minutes
Another form of escape is as blunt as it sounds: survive. Counselors can rummage through various cabins scattered around the map. Counselors can retrieve items such as pocket knives, med-sprays, walkie-talkies, and large maps in-cabin drawers. Cabins also include a lineup of weapons to choose from, such as a baseball bat or flare gun. Players controlling counselors have the opportunity of surviving the night by lasting the entire 20-minute match, doing whatever it takes to defend themselves against Jason. Counselors can lurk in the shadows and vault through windows to shake Jason off their tails. So fill your pockets with goodies, grab a weapon, and try to stay alive!
1. Kill Jason
Arguably the most popular way of escape would be to kill Jason. Despite its popularity, it is certainly no easy task to complete. Killing Jason comes with several steps that need to be done first. Tommy Jarvis must first be called using the CB Radio, only after at least two counselors either escaped or died. A Female Counselor then needs to locate Jason’s shack on the map and steal Pamela’s Sweater. Once Tommy has arrived, counselors can work together to knock Jason’s mask off using a variety of weapons. Once his mask is off, all that’s left is for the Female Counselor to stun Jason using Pamela’s Sweater long enough for Tommy Jarvis to inflict some revenge by killing Jason.
As mentioned before, this is a method that requires a lot of steps and for everyone to be on board for getting the job done. With this in mind, it is the method that will give you plenty of bragging rights and in the minority of those that have killed Jason.
