Is Minecraft lacking fun ways to travel around your world?
Minecraft is a game with limitless possibilities, where you can build and create almost anything you want! However, anyone who’s even a little familiar with Minecraft knows that it’s lacking a few things, namely, vehicles! And that’s where I come in, I’ve put together a top ten list of the best vehicle mods for Minecraft! From cars, to trains, and even airplanes, check out these amazing mods and why they’re a great fit for your Minecraft world!
10. Ultimate Car Mod
Building a custom car with the Ultimate Car Mod
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the mod.The Ultimate Car Mod adds tons of new features to the game, like machine parts, fuel production, and most importantly, cars! Create unique cars to race around your Minecraft world, with different customization options to make them stand out. Just craft some machine parts, build your car, and get right to driving your custom transport!
What’s fun about the Ultimate Car Mod? Well, there were three aspects of this mod that really stood out to me, and how they made my experience more enjoyable.
- The customization of cars in this mod is very expansive, being able to build cars of all sorts of colors, materials, and even custom roads!
- Speaking of the roads, this mod adds tons of types, with bunches of road signs and markers to go along with it!
- Of course you need fuel to drive a car, and this mod offers loads of different machinery and methods in order to get your engine revving!

9. WMATM Vehicles
A car with a flame design and a bike from WMATM Vehicles
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the mod.WMATM Vehicles is a very similar mod to the Ultimate Car Mod, it adds lots of customizability and brand new blocks, but there’s one important distinguishing factor between them… it has more than just cars! WMATM Vehicles has a variety of vehicles for you to choose from, from motorcycles, to airplanes, and even helicopters! And with lots of options to customize, you can have some really crazy looking vehicles!
I found three things really fun about WMATM Vehicles when playing.
- Being able to fly in planes! As well as helicopters, but the joy comes from being able to fly around your world in survival mode in your own unique aircraft!
- This feature doesn’t have much of an impact, but you need an in-game driver’s license in order to use vehicles. It’s a fun little feature that makes the mod just a bit more enjoyable than most.
- The inclusion of smaller vehicles, like bikes and motorcycles. While it’s cool to dash around in a car, or soar through the skies on a plane, sometimes you just want a relaxing bike ride around your Minecraft world!

8. SoggyMustache’s Transportation Mod
A few planes from SoggyMustache's Transportation Mod
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the mod.SoggyMustache’s Transportation Mod was another simple yet highly enjoyable mod. It has less customization options than the previous two entries, but it makes up for that with vehicle variety! There are quite a few vehicles in this mod that weren’t in the other two, which makes it stand out just that much more.
I mentioned that vehicle variety was what set this mod apart from the others, and here are the three most fun ones!
- The snowmobile! It’s a little out there in terms of a mod, but it’s extremely fun to zip through the snow super fast on one of these.
- Ever wanted to pick up and move objects but not the normal, boring way? The forklift will solve that problem, it’s a small vehicle but has a ton of use for moving blocks around!
- Lastly, the hovercraft! It’s super cool to be able to slide around on land and over the water, and makes for a really useful method of transport around your world!

7. MTS Heavy Industrial Contentpack
A realistic custom truck from MTS Heavy Industrial Contentpack
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the mod. Those last three mods were pretty straightforward in terms of content, but now we get to some more complex and varied mods. MTS Heavy Industrial Contentpack adds a bunch of realistic semi-trucks into your game, and even an engineering mechanic, where you can add wheels and parts to the truck outside of a crafting table!
What makes something so realistic so fun? Well, I’ll tell you!
- Visually, the trucks look absolutely amazing in this mod. They stand out from the regular look of Minecraft quite a bit, but boy do they look good!
- Building the trucks by hand is a super interesting way to get invested, even if it is a little tricky to understand. But it makes completing a truck all the more satisfying.
- You can actually set custom controls for your truck, and drive it however you want to! It’s a small touch, but gives you that little extra bit of comfort that’s always appreciated.

6. Traincraft
A stream train making its way down the tracks
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the mod.Steering away from some more of the conventional vehicles, Traincraft adds fully blown steam trains into your game! There are tons of different types of trains and cars to choose from, all with their own designs. Not to mention, you can lay out your own train tracks, with ramps, bridges, the whole nine yards!
Traincraft really set itself apart in part due to its uniqueness, but also three other major things, which made it really fun to play.
- Being able to lay out train tracks, complete with switching tracks, ramps, and barriers, just feels so right at home with the type of game Minecraft is. It’s a super fun feature!
- Of course, the main attraction of this mod is the trains, and they’re designed to look that way too! They all have intricate and varied designs, which makes them super cool to look at!
- While the trains may be the centerpiece, the extra cars you can add to the back of it are what really make this mod shine. From storage, to passengers, there are so many different cars, all with different uses!

5. The RC Mod
An RC airplane and remote control
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the mod.The RC Mod stands out a ton from the other vehicle mods on this list, since you don’t actually ride in the vehicles themselves, you control them remotely! There are tons of different RC vehicles to craft and control, which adds a lot of fun variety into the game!
This mod was definitely a lot of fun, as well as a personal favorite of mine.
- Having small vehicles that you can control remotely is very different and a nice change of pace from crafting big and complex vehicles, it’s a lot simpler, but sometimes simple is just better!
- You can actually take the view of the RC vehicles while controlling them, which means they can be used for unconventional things, like infiltration or spying, which just adds to the fun!
- In addition to vehicles on the ground, there’s also ones in the air, so you can take to the skies and see the whole world from above, while staying safe on the ground!

4. Cars Mod (xujmod)
A modern car from the Cars Mod (xujmod)
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the modThe simply named Cars Mod (xujmod) adds realistic cars into the game! While most of the previous mods have kept to the Minecraft aesthetic, this is more similar to the MTS Heavy Industrial Contentpack, which added realistic trucks!
This was a pretty fun mod to play, given it’s sense of realism compared to the others!
- The cars that are added into the game are all real brands from the real world, which means you can have your real life dream car in Minecraft!
- The cars are really well put together visually, which makes them a joy to look at, as well as ride around in!
- A super cool feature this mod adds is that your engines can burn out from driving too fast or doing tricks, which just adds to the realism and can make for some cool clips!

3. Fex’s Vehicle and Transportation Mod
A collection of cars from Fex's Vehicle and Transportation mod
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the mod. This mod is a bit of a different one, instead of the mod itself adding the vehicles, it acts as a base, to which other mods can be added on, and add tons of features! So far, there’s add ons for things like cars, trucks, miniature trains, and even more! The cars are realistic like the Cars Mod (xujmod), however it has some extra features, which made it just a bit more fun for me!
This mod had a few standout features that really made it fun!
- The miniature trains were a super cool addition, being able to place down curved tracks and have little displays of trains moving around!
- Trailers and storage containers were also really neat, allowing you to transport items with your vehicles, so you can take lots of supplies over long distances!
- This mod also has road signs, which allows tons of creativity, and the capability of building your own massive city, from backstreets to highways!

2. Mr. Crayfish’s Vehicle Mod
Different types of vehicles from Mr. Crayfish's Vehicle Mod
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the mod. These mods just keep getting bigger and better! Mr. Crayfish’s Vehicle Mod adds over 20 types of vehicles to your game, that are all customizable with different wheels, colors, and even engines! There’s also tons of additional controller support and things of the like, which allows the mod to cater to everyone.
Three things about this mod in particular made it really fun for me.
- When run alongside another mod, Mr. Crayfish’s Furniture Mod, you actually get additional vehicles to use!
- With the support of datapacks, you can actually customize the crafting recipes in the mod, so you can make the vehicles super easy or super difficult to make, based on how you want to play!
- Most importantly, it adds traffic cones, which can either be placed down or worn as a hat!

1. Immersive Vehicles
A beautiful scene of cars from the Immersive Vehicles mod
See this mod on YouTube:
A review/showcase of the mod.Just like Fex’s Vehicle and Transportation Mod, the Immersive Vehicles mod is a base mod that supports tons of different add ons. In fact, there are over 25 different add on packs, all with their own vehicles and customization options! This mod is truly the ultimate vehicle mod.
There were lots of reasons I found this mod fun, but I managed to narrow it down to three.
- There are tanks in this mod! Actual military ones that can fire cannons, it was literally a blast to play around with!
- The physics in this mod are super realistic, it takes time for planes to take off the ground, and running out of fuel doesn’t stop your vehicle immediately, there’s lots of attention to detail!
- You can have villagers ride around in the cars, so you can have passengers to take places, which is just a fun little feature that I found very enjoyable!
