10. M590A1
https://youtu.be/L6DVsecSYpc?t=9
This 12-gauge pump action shotgun may be one of the slowest weapons in this list in terms of fire rate, but it's a menace when it comes to firepower. As a pump action shotgun, it's optimal at close range, but the player can increase its optimal range by attaching a laser to it. That's because the laser will tighten its hip fire pellet spread, and that's also why it's included in this list. Despite its slow rate of fire, it's very effective at hip firing especially with a laser, and that means the player doesn't always have to go into aim-down-sights stance for it to be effective.
Not having to go to an aim-down-sights stance is such a huge advantage because it provides the player with speed advantage in enemy engagements. The player will also have a wider view of the surroundings, so they'll be able to see enemies well even on their peripheral view, and that's really great for the operators that have this shotgun as one of their choices for their primary, i.e. Sledge, Thatcher, Smoke, Mute, and Warden. It packs a heavy punch per pellet, so the tighter its hip fire spread is, the better, because that'll increase the chances that most, if not all, pellets will hit the enemy.
What Makes the M590A1 Great:
- Packs a heavy punch per pellet, so at its optimal range, it can take down an opponent with just one shot
- Its hip fire spread is quite tight, especially when a laser is attached to it, and that'll increase the probability that most, if not all pellets will hit the enemy's body
- Its range damage drop-off is quite low, so its effective range is actually better than normal, especially with a laser
- It's also a great utility for reworking the map to the player's advantage, be it through creating rotation holes or entry points

- Damage - 48
- Mobility - 50
- Rate of Fire - 85 RPM

9. BOSG.12.2
https://youtu.be/KPw8TfFeGTY?t=15
A lot of players might be surprised to see this weapon in this list because it's mostly known for its long-range capabilities. However, upon testing, I found out that its crosshair doesn't become wide even when you move, and that means it's a great weapon for hip firing, as long as it's close range. Add a laser to it and the BOSG.12.2 will really be a menace at close range, especially during sudden encounters with an enemy, and as mentioned before, the one who usually wins these types of encounters is the player who fires first.
And with the BOSG.12.2's tight hip fire crosshair, it'll be quite easy to hit an enemy at close range without having to spend a second to go into aim-down-sights stance. On top of that, the BOSG.12.2 inflicts a very high damage per shot, and it has a high probability of downing or outright killing an enemy at close to medium range. It also has a pretty good rate of fire considering that it's a shotgun modeled after single-slug hunting shotguns. This weapon is only available to Vigil and Dokkaebi, and it's a great weapon for them considering that they can equip machine pistols as their secondary.
What Makes the BOSG.12.2 Great:
- The BOSG.12.2 shotgun is a great hip fire gun because its crosshair doesn't become wide even if you move a lot, that means it has a tight hip fire
- Its rate of fire is quite quick, so despite its small magazine capacity, the player can fire its two shots per magazine in rapid succession
- It's one of the most damaging weapons in Siege and at close to medium range, it has a very high probability of downing or outright killing an enemy
- It can be equipped with scopes that provide high levels of zoom, making it a great weapon for long-range as well as close distances
Weapon Stats:
- Damage - 125
- Mobility - 50
- Rate of Fire - 500 RPM

8. D-50
https://youtu.be/lGWx9o0LXxA?t=7
The D-50 is a .50 caliber pistol, and as one could expect with high caliber weapons, its damage is really high. In fact, it's one of the most damaging weapons in this list, and that's one of the biggest factors why it's a great gun for hip firing. Obviously, in Siege, going into aim-down-sight stance provides the player with the best accuracy, so an important quality for weapons to be great at hip firing is how tight their crosshair is when not in aim-down-sight stance. And the D-50's crosshair is quite tight, especially when the laser is present as one of its attachments.
With the laser on the D-50, the player could accurately hit enemies at close to medium-range even when hip firing as long as the player isn't moving. Another great thing about this weapon is that its rate of fire is pretty fast, so at close distance, even when the player holding it is moving, it could still be very effective while hip firing because of all the factors, i.e. high damage, fast rate of fire, and tight hip fire, combined. And when the player does go into aim-down-sights stance, this weapon has a really good iron sight that promotes accuracy.
What Makes the D-50 Great:
- Not only is it's great for fragging enemies, it can also be used as a utility for creating more lines of sight on unreinforced walls or wooden floors
- Being a .50 caliber pistol, it's one of the most damaging handguns in the game, making it a great secondary weapon for the operators that has access to it
- Its iron sights are pretty good so when the player goes into aim-down-sights, they'll have a good chance of hitting enemies
- Its hip fire is quite tight especially with a laser so as long as the player is moving, they'll be able to hit enemies while hip firing at close to medium range
Weapon Stats:
- Damage - 71
- Mobility - 45
- Rate of Fire - 550 RPM
- Magazine Size - 7
7. CAMRS
https://youtu.be/FPDhoaC0e0s?t=44
Buck and Brava's unique designated marksman rifle is in this list because compared to other DMRs in the game, it has a tight hip fire. Add that to the fact that designated marksman rifles by nature deal heavy damage per shot, this can really excel at hip fire at close distances, especially when the player attaches a laser to it. The laser will greatly tighten its hip fire so that the player won't even have to go into an aim-down-sight stance with it in order to hit enemies at close range, or even medium range if the player isn't moving.
Another reason why it's a marksman rifle that is great at hip firing is that its recoil is more manageable than most marksman rifles in the game. With Buck, it even has a Skeleton Key under-barrel shotgun, and of course, shotguns are great at hip firing by nature. On top of all that, the CAMRS has a pretty fast rate of fire for a single-firing gun, and that makes it really effective in sudden enemy engagements. And perhaps my favorite feature of this weapon is its magazine size, because for a designated rifle, its magazine size is pretty big.
What Makes the CAMRS Great:
- Its damage output is very high so it can make quick work of enemies especially at close to medium range where its damage potential is at its peak
- Its hip fire is quite tight especially when equipped with a laser, and because of that, the player doesn't have to go into aim-down-sights stance when facing enemies at close range
- Compared to other designated marksman rifles, the CAMRS has a more manageable recoil, which is another factor why it's a great hip fire gun
- Its magazine capacity is bigger than most marksman rifles in the game, and that's great for engaging multiple enemies at once
Weapon Stats:
- Damage - 69
- Mobility - 50
- Rate of Fire - 450 RPM
- Magazine Size - 20
6. SG-CQB
https://youtu.be/Cxz88MC6VOU?t=87
This compact pump action 12-gauge shotgun is in this list because it's truly a menace at hip firing, despite its low rate of fire. That's because it inflicts heavy damage per pellet, even heavier than the other pump action shotgun above which is the M590A1. Its range damage drop-off is inherently low, but when equipped with a laser, its optimal range becomes even longer. That's because the laser will tighten its hip fire, making the pellet spread more compact, and increasing the chances of all pellets hitting the enemy's body.
And when most or all of the SG-CQB's pellets hit the opponents body, the probability is very high that they'll be dead or be put in a down-but-not-out state. Another great thing about the SG-CQB shotgun is that it can be equipped with a vertical grip, and despite the weapon's low rate of fire, the vertical grip is a great help for the player because it will weaken the weapon kick by a lot, and that means that the weapon won't kick too high per shot. That will let the player align their next shot more easily.
What Makes the SG-CQB Great:
- It inflicts a really heavy punch per pellet, heavier than most shotguns in the game, and is capable of downing or outright killing an enemy with just one shot at its optimal range
- It can be equipped with a vertical grip which is great for weakening the weapon's recoil and it promotes a lot of aim stability
- Its range damage drop-off is lower compared to most shotguns so its optimal range is quite long, even when fired through the hips
- It's a great hip fire gun especially with a laser because the laser will greatly tighten its hip fire pellet spread
Weapon Stats:
- Damage - 53
- Mobility - 50
- Rate of Fire - 85 RPM
- Magazine Size - 7
5. SIX12 SD
https://youtu.be/1uNVYtE7EIE?t=15
The SIX12 SD variant is only available to Nokk and Lesion, and it's in this list because its hip fire capabilities are really great for those two operators, especially Nokk. That's because this variant has an integrated suppressor, so its shots are really silent. It's perfect for Nokk, because she specializes in stealth and surprising enemies. With the integrated suppressor on this variant, Nokk can get behind enemies using her Hel Presence Reduction special gadget and kill them silently so that the other enemies won't easily be alerted.
When equipped with a laser, its hip fire will be greatly tightened, and that's always great to have, even for a stealth operator like Nokk, because it increases the probability that most or all of its pellets will hit the opponent's body. And when all of the SIX12 SD's eight pellets hit an opponent's body, they will be killed unless they're heavily armored and are wearing Rook's armor plates. The integrated suppressor will also allow its user to create entry points or rotation holes on unreinforced walls without drawing much attention.
What Makes the SIX12 SD Great:
- The SIX12 SD variant has an integrated suppressor and it's really great for silently killing enemies and not drawing the attention of the remaining ones
- The integrated suppressor on the SIX 12 SD variant is great for creating rotation holes or entry points on unreinforced walls without giving away the user's position
- It has a tight hip fire especially when equipped with a laser, and when all of its pellets hit an enemy, it will score a kill except if the enemy is heavy armored and wearing Rook's armor plate
- It can be reloaded quite fast due to its detachable drum magazine, so the user won't be too much at a disadvantage when it comes to dealing with more than one enemies
Weapon Stats:
- Damage - 35
- Mobility - 50
- Rate of Fire - 100 RPM
- Magazine Size - 6
4. SPAS-15
https://youtu.be/3cJIJJOEEz4?t=11
This shotgun is unique to Caveira and Thunderbird, and while its pellet damage isn't as heavy as some of the shotguns above, this is still one of the best shotguns for hip firing, and that's mainly because of its quick rate of fire due to it being semi-automatic. The SPAS-15 is also known for its destructive capabilities. With just one or two shots from this weapon, the player can create a rotation hole which is great for flanking or escaping enemies. So it's not only great for killing enemies, it's also a great utility for reworking the map to the user's advantage.
Another great thing about the SPAS-15 shotgun is that its optimal range is longer than many shotguns in the game. As shown in the video above, it can be used to kill enemies even at distances that aren't that close to the user. Add that to the fact that this shotgun can also be reloaded quite quickly and you'll have a weapon in your hands that is truly a menace at close to medium range engagements. This weapon is what makes Caveira a devastating roamer, because it provides her with so much versatility.
What Makes the SPAS-15 Great:
- Its high destruction profile per shot makes it a great utility for reworking the map to the user's advantage
- It can be fired in quick succession due to it being a semi-automatic weapon, and that's great for dealing with enemies at close range
- Its reload animation is quicker than most typical shotguns in the game due to its detachable magazine, and that's great for dealing with multiple enemies
- The SPAS-15 shotgun's effective range is longer than most shotguns, making it a great weapon not just for close range, but medium range as well.
Weapon Stats:
- Damage - 30
- Mobility - 50
- Rate of Fire - 290 RPM
- Magazine Size - 6
3. M870
https://youtu.be/rH_gdeQ8OMw?t=6
This 12-gauge pump action shotgun is such a beast in close quarters combat that it has retained its popularity throughout the years. Its large barrel makes its effective range longer than most shotguns, so when equipped with a laser which tightens its hip fire spread, it can be used to frag enemies even at a longer distance than close range. It inflicts a massive amount of damage per pellet, so when most or all of its pellets hit an opponent, it's a guaranteed down-but-not-out or an outright kill for the user.
Its rate of fire leaves more to be desired, but its pump action is quite quick, so it can be fired when an enemy appears while it's reloading. Of course, as a shotgun that fires multiple pellets per shot, it's also a great utility for reworking the map to the user's team's advantage. Another great thing about this shotgun is that its recoil is very stable. That allows the user to align their shots really well, which means that if they're dealing with multiple enemies at once, their aim won't be so far off to the next enemy after finishing one.
What Makes M870 Great:
- It inflicts a massive amount of damage per pellet, more so than most shotguns, so it can really make quick work of enemies at close quarters combat
- Its optimal range is longer than most shotguns in the game due to its large barrel, making it capable of hitting enemies even at medium range
- Its pump action is quite quick and it will allow the user to shoot the weapon while it's in the middle of reloading
- Its hip fire spread is tight, especially when a laser is attached to it, and that makes it a real menace at close to medium range
Weapon Stats:
- Damage - 60
- Mobility - 50
- Rate of Fire - 100 RPM
- Magazine Size - 7
2. SASG-12
https://youtu.be/SDuVEg6GjCQ?t=11
This semi-automatic shotgun is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, even when fired through the hips. That's because it packs a powerful punch per pellet and it can be fired in rapid succession. And despite it being fired quickly, its weapon kick remains stable because it can be equipped with a vertical grip. So with the SASG-12 shotgun, the user's aim will remain stable, even when they're moving fast and firing the weapon in quick succession. Its hip fire is quite tight, especially when equipped with a laser, so the user doesn't really have to go into aim-down-sights stance at close range.
What's more is that unlike most shotguns in the game, the SASG-12 can be reloaded quickly due to its detachable magazine. But what truly makes this weapon special is that despite being a shotgun, it can be equipped with a suppressor, and as we all should know by now, the devs have already removed the damage reduction penalty from using it. The SASG-12's only choice for its barrel attachment is the suppressor, so it's kind of like having an integrated one since the user should just simply equip it as it has no drawbacks.
What Makes SASG-12 Great:
- Its packs a heavy punch per pellet, so it can make short work of enemies at optimal range, which is of course close distance
- It basically has an integrated suppressor because it's the only barrel attachment compatible to it, and there would be no drawback in attaching it
- It can be fired in rapid succession because it's a semi-automatic shotgun, and that quick rate of fire can really shred enemies to pieces at close range
- It can be equipped with a vertical grip which will allow the user to align their shots well when firing in quick succession
Weapon Stats:
- Damage - 50
- Mobility - 50
- Rate of Fire - 330 RPM
- Magazine Size - 10
1. 417
https://youtu.be/uti8Lxle4pU?t=9
When it comes to hip fire effectiveness, the 417 is the best among all the designated marksman rifles in the game. That's because it has the tightest hip fire in all of them, especially when equipped with a laser, and that means that despite it being a designated marksman rifle, and is therefore considered a long-range weapon, it also excels in close-range engagements. With the laser greatly tightening the hip fire of the 417 and the muzzle brake greatly lowering its weapon kick, the user really won't need to go into aim-down-sights stance to hit enemies at close range.
That makes the 417 a really devastating weapon because it inflicts a massive amount of damage per shot and though it's not a fully automatic weapon, it can be fired in rapid succession. Another great thing about the 417 is that it's compatible with a wide variety of scopes, so if the user really wants it to excel in close quarters combat more, they could attach a scope 1.5x or 2.0x to it. However, my personal recommendation is the scope 3.0x even though it will eat up a lot of peripheral view. That's because the scope 3.0x's frame doesn't take up a lot of screen space, so the user will be able to have an unobstructed front view when aiming-down-sights.
What Makes 417 Great:
- It inflicts a massive amount of damage per shot and it has a low range damage drop-off, so it's a highly damaging weapon regardless of range
- Its recoil is very manageable especially since it can be equipped with a muzzle brake as well as a vertical grip
- It has the tightest hip fire among all designated marksman rifles, and when equipped with a laser, can be used to hit enemies at close quarters combat without having to go to aim-down-sights stance
- Even for a semi-automatic weapon, its rate of fire is quite high, so the user can fire it in rapid succession
Weapon Stats:
- Damage - 69
- Mobility - 50
- Rate of Fire - 450 RPM
- Magazine Size - 20
