5. Plate Armor

Like a knight in shining armor!

Great for early game combat, plate armor is insane at keeping your pawns well-protected from all kinds of damage. Whether it’s made from wood or steel, plate armor makes sure to cover almost all your body parts. Take note that it is pretty heavy and slows you down, but on the plus side, it makes you look like a badass warrior!

• Cheap to make and easy to acquire. 
• Amazing for brawler/melee type pawns.
• Massive defense buff from all kinds of attacks. 
• One of the best armors for low-tech colonies.

4. Flak Armor Set

Just strolling around the forest in bulletproof everything.  

Ever heard of bulletproof vests? The flak armor set has got you covered! As the golden standard for early to mid-game combat, a full flak set (including the jacket, vest, and pants) could mean life or death against the barrage of bullets your pawns suffer through during every raid. It protects well against piercing attacks with little to negligible movement speed reduction.

• Substantial protection against gunfire. 
• Reasonably cheap to produce.
• Barely reduces movement speed.

Made from genetically engineered mushrooms, this piece of armor is not only significantly resistant to damage but fashionable as well! Compared to the flak jacket, devilstrand has superior protection and heat insulation and protection making you functionally fireproof. The Devilstrand mushroom takes a while to grow though, so plant them early if you can!

2. Marine Armor Set

A bonafide space marine!

The badass power armor of your dreams, Marine armor is one of the best late-game armors out there. Layered with high-tech plasteel-weave plates, it is an absolute beast at stopping all kinds of damage, whether it be gunfire or blunt trauma, you can bet that your pawn would win the fight and then some.

• Significant protection on all body parts against all kinds of damage.
• The movement speed penalty is not as bad as plate armor.
• One of the best armors in the game without the Royalty DLC. 
• You look like Iron Man.

The be-all and end-all of all armor sets in all of Rimworld. The ultra, sci-fi, spacer-tech, power armor of the game, the Cataphract Armor Set. This armor is used for maximum protection and turns your pawns into unstoppable forces of terror and technology. Raiders beware. 

The ultimate space marine!:

• Protects literally everything. Somehow even better than Marine armor.
• The BEST armor in the game. (You need the Royalty DLC). 
• Used by the Imperial forces of the Empire. 
• Iron Man is jealous of you.

What do I do to get this power-armored treasure!:

• Sometimes offered as a reward for quests by the Empire faction.
• It can be created at the fabrication bench after a whole lot of research. 
• Possible to be purchased from the right traders.
• Try and steal it from one of the Imperial Cataphracts of the Empire, if you dare. 

There is no doubt that armor is necessary in Rimworld. Without it, your pawns would instantly turn into mincemeat. Armor is a surefire way for your pawns to be protected and ready for the many challenges that await.
