Top 10 Best Splatoon 2 Weapons

The Splatoon series has grown in popularity since its first game on the Wii U. From inking turf, to protecting zones, to riding towers, the game offers plenty of weapons for players to choose from. All of the weapons in Splatoon 2 serve different purposes, but some may prove more versatile than others. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most versatile weapons in this splat-tastic game.

10. Aerospray RG

For number 10 on our list, bask in its golden glory. The Aerospray RG is a lightweight shooter weapon with an extremely high fire rate. Players can purchase the Aerospray RG from Sheldon at Ammo Knights upon reaching level 28.

The Aerospray RG has been a fan favorite since the first Splatoon game. While it ranks low in damage and range, its high fire rate proves to be a major distraction to opponents. It allows ink to quickly shoot in different directions rather than a single line of fire. With this, the Aerospray RG effectively spreads ink across turf, allowing players to unexpectedly splat their opponents. Its sub and special weapons, the Sprinkler and the Baller, assist the Aeospray RG in covering turf, making it a prime weapon for spreading ink.

9. Carbon Roller

It’s here and it’s ready to roll. The Carbon Roller is one of the most frustrating rollers to be up against. Why? Because of its speed!

Compared to the standard Splat Roller, it's significantly lighter, making it flick ink faster than any other roller. Its light weight also improves its mobility, allowing players to maneuver around fluidly. With Autobombs to hone in on enemies, and an Ink Storm to further damage opponents, the Carbon Roller can be quite the deadly weapon when in the right hands.

While damage done by this weapon is minor, players can fling ink 22 times before having to refill their ink tanks. Similar to the Aerospray RG’s fire rate, its quick flicking can be very distracting to opponents, especially when you don’t have to refill your ink as often. It even got buffed in the latest update!

Players can purchase the Carbon Roller from Sheldon at Ammo Knights upon reaching level 7 so new players can get a hold of this roller relatively early in the game.

8. Enperry Splat Dualies

The Dualies are an exciting new weapon in Splatoon 2. Unlike other weapons, Dualies give players the capability to dodge roll. This allows players to maneuver both offensively and defensively, making the Dualies aggressive weapons.

In particular, the Enperry Splat Dualies make for an exceptionally-balanced frontline weapon. Its sub and special weapons, the Curling Bomb and Inkjet, make for an effective offensive weapon.

Throw your curling bomb to bounce off walls and deal damage to your opponents, then soar into the air with your Inkjet to splat opponents from above— all with a fast, aggressive, and maneuverable weapon! Players can purchase the Enperry Splat Dualies from Sheldon at Ammo Knights upon hitting level 11.

7. Splat Charger

A classic but potent weapon: The Splat Charger. This weapon is utilized by professional players worldwide. It is often referred to as one of the best chargers in the series. Both powerful and simple, the charger is a scope-less weapon with above-average range. Its sub weapon is the Splat Bomb, letting players quickly bomb the area around them. This effectively spreads ink for their own little territory to camp in.

Its special weapon, the Sting Ray, lets players shoot a stream of ink much farther than their charger. This set can be very intimidating on linear stages like Port Mackerel or Walleye Warehouse. Players can purchase the Splat Charger from Sheldon at Ammo Knights upon hitting level 3.

6. Heavy Splatling

Just like the other Splatlings, it is considered a support weapon. But regardless, it is an efficient one that can be the difference between a won and a lost ranked game.

While frontline players charge into a game, the Heavy Splatling can spread exuberant amounts of ink and support a team from behind. After covering territory, the Heavy Splatling is ready to rip. It’s an exceptional weapon because of its ability to cover turf and deal damage from a long distance. Use its sub weapon, the Sprinkler, to spread even more ink and you can be a monster in an online match.

Players can purchase the Heavy Splatling from Sheldon at Ammo Knights when they hit level 8.

5. Tri-Slosher

The Sloshers are a very unique type of weapon. With the appearance of a wash bucket, they toss ink out in a straightforward direction. But the Tri-Slosher is unique and utilized by many successful players.

The Tri-Slosher is essentially the Aerospray of the Sloshers. It has a very short range, but its above-average damage makes every slosh potent. Simply spread ink, refill your tank, and jump around your opponents while tossing your ink onto them. Your sub weapon, the Burst Bomb, lets you quickly explode ink onto your opponent before they get a slosh of ink to the face. And once you've saved enough ink, activate your Ink Armor to give you an extra defense boost. While it isn't the meta-monster it used to be, it’s still a phenomenal Slosher for fast players. Players can purchase the Tri-Slosher from Sheldon at Ammo Knights upon hitting level 15.

4. N-Zap ‘85

The N-Zap is an iconic weapon in the Splatoon series. Its design mimics the original North American NES Zapper for the Nintendo Entertainment System. This is why it's referred to as the N-Zap! Now, onto the weapon’s specs…

The N-Zaps are lightweight weapons that deal low damage but makes up for it with their great fire rate and adequate range. The N-Zap is considered an exceptional shooter thanks to its straightforward line of fire. Instead of firing ink in many directions like the Aerospray, it gives players significantly better accuracy and saves wasted ink as well.

Try tossing a Suction Bomb toward your opponents to drive them out of a specific area before bombarding them with ink shot from your N-Zap ‘85. Its special weapon, Ink Armor, gives you a defense boost as icing on the cake. For players with great aim, the N-Zap ’85 can be deadly, so give it a try once you hit level 9.

3. Custom Dualie Squelchers

Yes, we are back to the Dualies. As stated earlier, their dodge roll mechanics make them an aggressive weapon that offensive players love. But the Custom Dualie Squelchers are quite the pair of dangerous Dualies.

The Custom Dualie Squelchers, unlike the Splat Dualies, have significantly more range. As if the Dualies couldn't be more intimidating, improving their range makes them both effective and enjoyable weapons to use. Toss out one of your Splat Bombs to spread ink while covering turf with your top-notch range before activating your Ink Storm to cover enemy territory.

Players can buy the Custom Dualie Squelchers from Sheldon at Ammo Knights once they hit level 16.

2. Tentatek Splattershot

Our number two Splatoon 2 weapon might be underwhelming to players familiar with the game. It's a weapon that's been around since the first game. It's balanced, simple, and presumably plain, but its community performance says otherwise. The Tentatek Splattershot holds the title for the second best Splatoon 2 weapon.

The Tentatek Splattershot is considered an "all-around weapon in terms of power, range, and rate of fire." It's an automatic shooter weapon with balanced range, damage, and fire-rate. Its Splat Bomb provides extra ink and adequate damage toward opponents while its Inkjet, one of the community's favorite special weapons.

With effective sub and special weapons, and no major weaknesses, it is a fantastic weapon for all kinds of players. New or old, professional or casual, it’s easy to learn and great to keep around. Players can purchase this weapon when they reach level 4.

1. Bloblobber

The Bloblobber is one of the newest additions to Splatoon 2. As a Slosher weapon, it tosses a string of bubbles toward opponents instead of ink like a traditional Slosher.

These bubbles of ink are thrown a far distance and can splat opponents if the string of four bubbles hit them. With a Splash Wall to protect players from close-range weapons, and an Ink Storm to take care of enemy territory ahead, the Bloblobber is an extremely successful weapon. Its extremely long range and fast fire rate can be deadly against your opponents.

The new string-of-bubbles mechanic is often used by online players, so it’s not uncommon to see mass amounts of bubbles in recent games. It’s not only a great weapon, but new, and very fun to use! We recommend you try it out too!

Players can purchase the Bloblobber from Sheldon at Ammo Knights once they hit level 11.
