Splatoon 2 Weapons List (Splatoon 2 Weapons Ranked Best To Worst)

Splatoon 2- Cover
Splatoon 2 has the ultimate artillery, but which weapon is right for you?

With more than 127 weapons in Splatoon 2, it seems nearly impossible to pick a favorite.

Each weapon has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. With 300+ hours played in the game, I’ve learned a bit on what weapons work where.

Whether you're a newcomer looking for a weapon to main, or a veteran curious about other options- you’ll find it all right here in the “Splatoon 2 Weapons List (Splatoon 2 Weapons Ranked Best To Worst).”

Your choice of weapon can make or break a round in Splatoon 2, but since different modes can offer different advantages for weapons- we’re using Turf War as our point of reference here.

It’s available to everyone from the get go and can be played any time of day.

To begin we’ll be putting every weapon in a ranking. After that- each weapon type will be grouped together and within those subgroups will be a list ranking each weapon from best to worst (in my opinion).

Ultimates and Subs are their own beast, and will not be included in this list.

Because of this, the upgraded versions of weapons will be grouped together since they all have the same stats- despite having different subs.

Your sub choice is completely up to you and what you think works.

Note: Any of these weapons could be great for an individual, it’s all relative. This is using base information from research and personal experience. Any weapon is a good weapon if you make it yours.

Shooters

-S Tier-

1. Squeezer (S Tier shooter)

A top notch weapon. This one has a lot of range and a lot of power, but despite all that it doesn’t slow you down. It’s super effective at covering turf, and an all around good choice.

-STATS-

  • Range 9/10
  • Damage 4.8/10
  • Fire Rate 2.9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Well Balanced
  • Covers Turf Well
  • Unleashes Hell

Upgrades: Foil Squeezer

Weapon Power Rating: 94/100

Demonstration:

2. .96 Gal (S Tier shooter)

Pictured above is the .96 Gal deco (the upgraded version). With insane range and damage, the .96 Gal is particularly unstoppable. If it weren’t meant for the fact that it makes you incredibly slow. It’s range makes up for that though- helping you cover that turf.

-STATS-

  • Range 8/10
  • Damage 8.9/10
  • Fire Rate .5/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Unstoppable
  • Makes You Slow
  • Great Range and Damage

Upgrades: .96 Gal deco

Weapon Power Rating: 90/100

Demonstration:

-A Tier-

3. Splash-o-matic  (A Tier shooter)

This gun has a great range. It doesn’t do much damage, but tit makes up for that in its crazy fire rate. This makes what would have been an “okay” weapon become a really strong one. Though you’ll want to have good aim- its shot is super precise. Its rapid fire rate makes it great for covering turf.

-STATS-

  • Range 4.3/10
  • Damage 1.8/10
  • Fire Rate 9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Great Range
  • Fantastic Fire Rate
  • Requires Great Aim

Upgrades: Neo Splash-o-matic

Weapon Power Rating: 85/100

Demonstration:

4. Aerospray MG (A Tier shooter)

It’s basically in the same boat as the Splash-o-matic. With a low damage but high fire rate- the only difference between the two is a wider shot (while the splash-o-matic is a more precise aim).

-STATS-

  • Range 3.8/10
  • Damage .5/10
  • Fire Rate 9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Wide Shot
  • Similar to Splash-o-matic
  • Great for Covering Turf

Upgrades: Aerospray RG

Weapon Power Rating: 82/100

Demonstration:

5. Splattershot pro (A Tier shooter)

The Splattershot pro has crazy range and great damage. It’ll slow you down though, so it’s going to be harder to evade attacks. It has a rapid fire rate (though its stats say otherwise), making covering turf super easy.

-SATS-

  • Range 8.2/10
  • Damage 7.5/10
  • Fire Rate 3.2/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Outstanding Range
  • Slows you down
  • Relatively Rapid Fire Rate

Upgrades: Forge Splattershot pro, Kensa Splattershot pro

Weapon Power Rating: 82/100

Demonstration:

-B TIER-

6. H-3 Nozzlenose (B Tier shooter)

Even though this shooter has a lot more range and power than the L-3, this weapon has its issues. You still need to individually press down the trigger every time you shoot. However, unlike the L-3 which was able to have a 2 hit kill, the H-3 is a direct one hit kill. (A bit tougher to cover turf with though).

-STATS-

  • Range 8/10
  • Damage 7.8/10
  • Fire Range 4/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Some issues
  • One Hit Kill
  • Tough to Cover Turf
  • Powerful

Upgrades: H-3 Nozzlenose D

Weapon Power Rating: 76/100

Demonstration:

7. .52 Gal (B-Tier shooter)

With its incredible range and damage, this weapon is most definitely something to be reckoned with. Its downside- it’ll tremendously slow you down. Along with walking slower, it also has a slow firing rate making it more difficult to cover turf.

-STATS-

  • Range 6.7/10
  • Damage 8.8/10
  • Fire Rate 2.2/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Slows You Down
  • Very Strong
  • Bad for Covering Turf

Upgrades: .52 Gal deco, Kensa .52 Gal

Weapon Power Rating: 74/100

Demonstration:

8. N-Zap ‘85 (B Tier shooter)

With a solid range and fire rate, this weapon will do a great job for you at covering turf. However, it’s not great with damage making it not ideal for offense (or even defense for that matter).

-STATS-

  • Range 5/10
  • Damage 2/10
  • Fire Rate 8/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Bad Damage
  • Great Fire Rate
  • With Practice Could Be Deadly

Upgrades: N-Zap ‘89

Weapon Power Rating: 68/100

Demonstration:

-C Tier-

9. L-3 Nozzlenose (C Tier shooter)

It has a long range, but you need to press down everytime you want to fire it. This means no holding down the trigger button. However, it does do an okay amount of damage.

-STATS-

  • Range 7/10
  • Damage 3/10
  • Fire Rate 7.1/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Not Ideal When Shooting
  • Long Range
  • Alright Damage

Upgrades: L-3 Nozzlenose D/ Kensa L-3 Nozzlenose

Weapon Power Rating: 65/100

Demonstration:

10. Jet Squelcher (C Tier shooter)

This weapons strength is in its range. Its damage is alright, and it has an okay fire rate. Its range does however make covering turf super easy. Like- you guys. It’s SUPER far.

-STATS-

  • Range 9.2/10
  • Damage 4/10
  • Fire Rate 3.9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Outstanding Range
  • Great for Covering Turf
  • Subpar Range and Fire Rate

Upgrades: Custom Jet Squelcher

Weapon Power Rating: 55/100

Demonstration:

11. Sploosh-o-matic (C Tier shooter)

This weapon deals a lot of damage- but at a cost. It has a very short range, though if you’re not afraid to get up close and personal this shouldn’t be a problem for you. (One of my favorite weapons to play around with).

-STATS-

  • Range: .8/10
  • Damage: 5.9/10
  • Fire Rate: 8.7/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Deals A Lot of Damage
  • Fantastic Fire Rate
  • Little to No Range

Upgrades: Neo Sploosh-o-matic

Weapon Power Rating:49/100

Demonstration:

-D Tier-

12. Splattershot (D Tier shooter)

An all around balanced weapon, there’s no place where the splattershot particularly shines. However, it doesn’t have any spots where it’s particularly lacking either. It’s great for beginners- but ditch it when you can.

-STATS-

  • Range 5/10
  • Damage 4.9/10
  • Fire Range 5.2/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Meh.
  • Balanced
  • Great for Beginners

Upgrades: Tentatek splattershot, Kensa splattershot

Weapon Power Rating: 27/100

Demonstration:

13. Splattershot Jr. (D Tier shooter)

Ah...humble beginnings. As the first weapon you get in the game- it’s good for learning the basics. Beyond that though, it’s really not a great weapon.

-STATS-

  • Range 3/10
  • Damage 2.2/10
  • Fire Rate 7.9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • First Weapon
  • Not Great
  • Has Okay Fire Rate

Weapon Power Rating: 25/100

Blasters:

-S Tier-

1. Clash Blaster (S Tier blaster)

-STATS-

  • Range 2/10
  • Impact 2.1/10
  • Fire Rate 7.9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Rapid Fire Rate
  • Some Weakness
  • Better Strength

  • Fire Rate 4.5/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Long Range
  • Very Powerful
  • Solid choice

Upgrades: Rapid Blaster Deco, Kensa Rapid Blaster

Weapon Power Rating: 80/100

Demonstration:

3. Blaster (A Tier blaster)

This blaster’s shots explode on impact. Watch out, because this guy will make you walk slow. However! It does a ton of damage. And because the shots explode, your aim doesn’t have to be precise- it can be very much in the general direction. This bumps it up to A tier- it’s powerful and big.

-STATS-

  • Range 2.8/10
  • Impact 7.9/10
  • Fire Rate 2.7/10

-Overview-

  • Will Walk Slow
  • Dangerous Impact
  • Wide Fire Range

Upgrades: Custom Blaster

Weapon Power Rating: 78/100

Demonstration:

4. Range Blaster (A Tier blaster)

Pictured above is the custom range blaster. This weapon is very similar to the blaster but with a larger range. However, it has a slower fire rate and will slow down your walking too.

-STATS-

  • Range 6/10
  • Impact 7/10
  • Fire Rate 1/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Powerful
  • Slow Fire Rate
  • Slows You Down

Upgrades: Custom Range Blaster

Weapon Power Rating: 77/100

Demonstration: https://youtu.be/IJC1b6pdbNg

-B Tier-

5. Rapid Blaster Pro (B tier blaster)

Doing the same amount of damage as the rapid blaster- this one has a longer range but a slower fire rate while actually in use. This lack of speed brings it down a tier.

-STATS-

  • Range 8/10
  • Impact 3.5/10
  • Fire Rate 1.5/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Large Range
  • Slow Fire Rate
  • Brings Down Speed

Upgrades: Rapid Blaster pro Deco

Weapon Power Rating: 75/100

Demonstration:

6. Luna Blaster (B Tier blaster)

Much like the Blaster, the Luna Blaster is an exploding gun. Its downside- it’s fire rate and short range make it tough to cover turf.

-STATS-

  • Range .4/10
  • Impact 7.8/10
  • Fire Rate 3.9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Little to No Range
  • Low Fire Rate
  • Similar To Blaster

Upgrades: Luna Blaster Neo, Kensa Luna Blaster

Weapon Power Rating: 70/100

Demonstration:

Rollers:

-A Tier-

1. Carbon Roller (A Tier roller)

The carbon roller doesn’t have much damage or range. However, its sheer speed and handling above the other rollers gives it an A tier ranking.

-STATS-

  • Range 1.2/10
  • Ink Speed 7/10
  • Handling 7/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Very Fast
  • Easy to Handle
  • Great for Covering Turf

Upgrades: Carbon Roller Deco

Weapon Power Rating: 77/100

Demonstration:

-B Tier-

2. Dynamo Roller (B Tier roller)

Okay, this roller is crazy powerful. And its range- insane. There’s just one downside that brought it to B tier. It’s soooo incredibly slow. It’s not just the pushing of said roller- anyone who’s used it knows it gradually builds up speed. It’s the actual flinging and smashing of the dynamo roller that’s so slow. But if anyone gets in the way of you- it won’t be pretty.

-STATS-

  • Range 8/10
  • Ink Speed 2/10
  • Handling 1.8/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Great Range
  • Slow
  • So SLOW

Upgrades: Gold-Dynamo Roller, Kensa Dynamo Roller

Weapon Power Rating: 70/100

Demonstration:

3. Flingza Roller (B Tier roller)

Aesthetically, this roller is very cool. It switches from being a roller to a fountain pen, and like its name suggests- its strength is in flinging ink. Because of this- it has a very long range. Though it’ll take longer to fling then do anything else with this weapon. When just pushing it along though, it has the strength and speed of a splash roller.

-STATS-

  • Range 6/10
  • Ink Speed 5/10
  • Handling 5/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Looks Cool as Hell
  • Slow to Fling
  • Long Range

Upgrades: Foil Flingza Roller

Weapon Power Rating: 70/100

Demonstration:

-D Tier-

4. Splat Roller (D Tier roller)

The splat roller is basically the default mode of all rollers- though that’s not necessarily a bad thing. All other rollers are just a variation of this guy. It’s basic- but it’s absolutely great for covering turf and can do a good amount of damage. It's still D-tier though, since it's just your basics.

-STATS-

  • Range: 5/10
  • Ink Speed 5.9/10
  • Handling: 5.4/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Basic
  • Great for Covering Turf
  • Upgrade Soon

Upgrades: Kensa Splat Roller, Hero Replica Roller, Krak-on Splat Roller

Weapon Power Rating: 38/100

Demonstration:

Ink Brushes:

-A Tier-

1. Inkbrush (A Tier roller)

The ink-brush is incredibly well-versed. Along with doing a ton of damage, it’s perfect for covering ground and you’re able to run fast. However- this guy might just give you carpal-tunnel because each swing is one button press. Sooo… Watch out for that?

-STATS-

  • Range .2/10
  • Ink Speed 10/10
  • Handling 10/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Fast
  • Powerful
  • Literally No Range

Upgrades: Inkbrush nouveau

Weapon Power Rating: 87/100

Demonstration:

-B Tier-

2. Octobrush (B Tier roller)

This is still a powerful weapon- don’t get me wrong. It even has more range than the ink brush. However, it’s slower. Still fast- but you’re losing some speed.

-STATS-

  • Range: 2
  • Ink Speed: 8.7/10
  • Handling 9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Slower
  • Okay Range
  • Loss of handling

Upgrades: Octobrush Nouveau, Kensa Octobrush

Weapon Power Rating: 77/100

Demonstration:

Chargers:

-S Tier-

1. Bamboozler 14 Mk 1 (S Tier roller)

Being the most well balanced of all the snipers, the Bamboozler has an incredibly high range, charge speed, and mobility. Although- it takes two hits to splat someone instead of one.

-STATS-

  • Range 8/10
  • Charge Speed 9.2/10
  • Mobility 8/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Well balanced
  • Fast
  • Takes two hits

Upgrades: Bamboozler 14 Mk II

Weapon Power Rating: 95/100

Demonstration:

-Tier B-

2. Splatterscope (Tier B roller)

The Splatterscope has what the name entails: a scope. This makes it the 4th longest range of any sniper. It also has a relatively short charging time- though it’s a bit on the slower side.

-STATS-

  • Range 9.5/10
  • Charge speed 4.9/10
  • Mobility 2.9/10

-STATS-

  • Range 9.9/10
  • Charge Speed 2/10
  • Mobility 1.9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Meh
  • Second Highest Range
  • Moves Slow

Upgrades: Custom E-liter 4k

Weapon Power Rating: 69/100

Demonstration:

-C Tier-

5. Classic Squiffer (C Tier roller)

Having a quicker charge time than the Splat Charger- it also seems to have a shorter range and mobility. This (like all snipers) it can be a one-shot kill if a direct hit. It’s also not the most efficient when covering turf, as it shoots in a straight line. One cool but unrelated plus- I mean just look at that awesome design. A cleaning bottle? Friggin' genius.

-STATS-

  • Range 8/10
  • Charge Speed 7.9/10
  • Mobility 7/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Slow
  • Quick Charge Speed
  • Not Great for Covering Turf

Upgrades: New Squiffer

Weapon Power Rating: 45/100

Demonstration:

6. Goo Tuber (C Tier roller)

Having a very high mobility and range that’s nothing to snide at- the goo tuber can also hold a charge while swimming. However, it doesn’t have great charge speed and that can most definitely make using it very difficult.

-STATS-

  • Range 8/10
  • Charge Speed 3.9/10
  • Mobility 7.9/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Holds Charge While Swimming
  • Good Range
  • Terrible Charge Speed

Demonstration:

-D Tier-

7. Splat Charger (D Tier roller)

The is the sniper to use when learning how to be a sniper. A sniper in particular is one of the most difficult weapons to learn to use. With experience though- you’ll become an asset to your team. This weapon is great for learning the ropes when starting out. It has a long range and a relatively fast charge speed. It does make you slow- but only when it’s fully charged. It can hold its charge when your swimming. Upgrade when you can though.

-STATS-

  • Range 9/10
  • Charge Speed 5/10
  • Mobility 4.6/10

-OVERVIEW-

  • Great for Learning
  • Can Hold Charge When Swimming

3. Ballpoint Splatling (A Tier splatling)

It’s pretty cool how this guy looks like a ballpoint pen- I gotta say. Now it has high mobility and range, but it does take a while to charge up. It has two layers of firing- First it shoots up close and then it shoots far away. Does a ton of damage.
