Light machine guns are very fast, very powerful weapons in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.

Often times, these instruments are overlooked as compared to other options in the game like assault rifles and rifles. 

Players have created amazing builds centering around LMGs, praising the efficiency of LMGs to deal powerful damage to enemies. 

We’re going to look at the five best LMGs in The Division 2, and hopefully change the minds of some folks who have been avoiding them. 

1. Pestilence

Pestilence is an exotic weapon and is dubbed as the most favorable of LMGs. 

While all LMG save for the RPK-74 have slow reload speeds, that won’t stop this beast from tearing people into shreds. 

With this weapon, it is wise to settle with mods that will focus on improving accuracy and stability.

What Brings Out The Best In The Pestilence:

• Permanent Talents:
• Plague of the Outcasts
  • “After hitting the same enemy 5 times, that enemy is inflicted with Plague of the outcasts for 10 seconds.”

  • “This debuff reduces healing received by 50% for 10s. Whenever an enemy with Pestilence would be downed, they are instead instantly killed. This debuff is removed is the enemy is repaired to full armor.”
• Outcast Resilience
  • “While holstered gain 20% bonus armor for 5s whenever you are affected by Blind, Bleed or Burning.”

2. M60

Outside the realm of exotics, the M60 is a fan favorite amongst players.

Its reload speed is a gift in the world of LMGs and with the proper talents can be used at its full potential to create a never-before-seen gaming experience.

• Optimal Range: 10-50m

What Brings Out The Best In The M60:

Talents:

• Compensated
  • “Weapon damage is increased by +15% when your critical hit chance is below 20%. Requires 3 or less crosshairs.”
• Unhinged
  • “Receive +25% weapon damage at the cost of -35% weapon handling.”
• Measured 
  • “The top half of the magazine has a +15% rate of fire and -20% weapon damage. The bottom half of the magazine has -25% rate of fire and +20% weapon damage.”

3. L86

As if LMGs weren’t ignored enough, the L86 is stuck in the shadows of the M60 or Mk-46. 

With its low Mag one can see why it would be overlooked in terms of Mag size but it makes up for it with reload speed.

4. Military Mk-46 (M249 B Variant)

The Military Mk-46 is a variant of the M249 B LMG and is a very honorable LMG in the game. 

With proper talents, especially the ones offered below, this weapon can be extremely formidable.
