As you all know, the tell of a true quadruple A game is that it has a fishing mechanic. And Warframe does not disappoint. Ever since the Plains of Eidolon was introduced to Warframe in 2017, the fishing mechanic has caused many a fun time, and twice as many headaches (admittedly).
It’s really annoying when you’re just enjoying a good fishing session alone or with some friends and an entire horde of Grineer, Corpus, or Infested troops starts attacking you. Stuff happens.
When you do find a good spot where nothing is interrupting you though, fishing in the game can be really relaxing and takes you away from the tedious grind of the rest of the game. It’s a nice change of pace, for me at least.
But all of that’s pointless unless you know which spear catches which fish.
Here are the best fishing spears to go for and what each of them specializes in:
5. Shockprod Fishing Spear
The Shockprod is the first fishing spear available from The Business on Fortuna. It's essential for farming the aquatic(?) life(??) there. Any prior fishing spear you’ve obtained in Cetus is not ideal for fishing on Venus because those spears damage any Servofish you catch and lessen their quality (Low quality or “Basic” Servofish produce less scrap when dismantled and give less standing when traded to The Business).
Thus, the Shockprod is a must-have for beginners to Fortuna. It, however, becomes obsolete once you get to the point where you can obtain the second spear The Business offers.
Do note, however, that this spear only works on Servofish, you can’t catch fish on the Plains of Eidolon or the Cambion Drift with it,
What Shockprod excels at catching:
- Any Servofish in Orb Vallis on Venus
- The minigame:
Unlike fishing on the Plains of Eidolon or the Cambion Drift, simply hitting the fish with your spear isn’t enough. Once this spear makes contact with a Servofish, a minigame appears where you see a marker move back and forth on a horizontal gauge. Simply press the fire button (left-mouse button on PC) whenever the marker is on the red part of the gauge to catch the Servofish.
Where to buy the Shockprod:
From The Business on Venus: Fortuna at Rank 0: Neutral for 500 Standing

4. Peram Fishing Spear
The only Cetus fishing spear on the list. The reason for that is because the other two get Infested counterparts on The Necralisk in Deimos that do exactly what they do with some additional benefits. You should also get the other two though because you won’t be getting the Infested spears until a little later in the game.
The Peram Fishing Spear can also catch fish in the Cambion Drift, but it cannot penetrate the exocrine where the fish may dive into.
In the Orb Vallis however, the Peram Fishing Spear will damage every Servofish and you will only be able to catch Basic variants.
What Peram excels at catching:
- Fish with tough, scaly hides. Here’s a list of them:
- Glappid
- Khut-Khut
- Mawfish
- Mortus Lungfish
- Norg
Where to buy the Peram :
From Hai-Luk on Earth: Cetus at Rank 0: Neutral for 500 Standing

3. Spari Spear
The Spari Spear is the first among the fishing spears obtainable in the Necralisk. Though the fishing spears you got from Cetus can also catch fish in the Cambion Drift, The Spari Spear is better for it because the fish sometimes dive into a thick exocrine that only infested spears can penetrate through.
Like the Cetus fishing spears, the Spari will also damage Servofish from the Orb Vallis and it’s not advisable to use this for that purpose.
What Spari Spear excels at catching:
- Any fish in the Cambion Drift
- This spear can penetrate through the thick exocrine that the fish dive into.
- When used on the Plains of Eidolon, the Spari Spear behaves like the Tulok Fishing Spear. Here’s what the Tulok Fishing Spear specializes in catching:
- Tralok
Where to buy the Spari Spear:
From Daughter on Deimos: The Necralisk at Rank 0: Neutral for 500 Standing

2. Ebisu Spear
Similar to the Spari Spear, the Ebisu Spear can penetrate through the thick exocrine in the Cambion Drift.
Aside from that, it has the added effect of being a “silent spear” that doesn’t alert the fish when you miss. Though it is a little buggy, it’s at least better than not having it at all, so that’s why I ranked the Ebisu Spear higher than the Spari Spear.
Once again, the Ebisu Spear is no good in the Orb Vallis as it damages and depreciates any Servofish you catch there.
What Ebisu excels at catching:
- Any fish in the Cambion Drift
- This spear can penetrate through the thick exocrine that the fish dive into.
- The Ebisu Spear has a special effect where it doesn’t scare the fish when you miss a throw. However, this effect is really buggy and fish will still run away when you miss sometimes.
- When used on the Plains of Eidolon, the Ebisu Spear behaves like the Lanzo Fishing Spear. Here’s what the Lanzo Fishing Spear specializes in catching:
- Charc Eel
- Cuthol
- Goopolla
- Murkray
- Sharrac
- Yogwun
Where to buy the Ebisu:
From Daughter on Deimos: The Necralisk at Rank 3: Associate for 5,000 Standing

1. Stunna Fishing Spear
The second, and best spear you can get from The Business. The Stunna Fishing Spear completely replaces the Shockprod Fishing Spear because of its special effect.
Whenever you catch a fish with it, the Stunna will generate an electromagnetic pulse that will paralyze any nearby fish and make the minigame for catching them easier. You’ll see a drastic improvement in efficiency in your Orb Vallis fishing once you get this baby.
Similar to the Shockprod though, the Stunna is not capable of catching fish in the Plains of Eidolon and Cambion Drift. It will still stun them if you accomplish the minigame though.
What Stunna excels at catching:
- Any Servofish in Orb Vallis on Venus
- The minigame:
Unlike fishing on The Plains of Eidolon or the Cambion Drift, simply hitting the fish with your spear isn’t enough. Once this spear makes contact with a Servofish, a minigame appears where you see a marker move back and forth on a horizontal gauge. Simply press the fire button (left-mouse button on PC) whenever the marker is on the red part of the gauge to catch the Servofish.
- Whenever you succeed in the minigame, the Stunna will release an electromagnetic pulse that stuns surrounding Servofish. It also widens the red part of the gauge, making catching them much easier.
Where to buy the Stunna:
From The Business on Venus: Fortuna at Rank 3: Doer for 5,000 Standing
